  1. Angela Gibson says:

I just finished Fumbled by Alexa Martin. It was thoughtful and shed light on critical issues within the NFL for players, yet it still kept the HEA firmly in sight.

  2. Zealith says:

I really enjoyed Mama’s Last Hug, a nonfiction about animal emotions. Really cool, with interesting personal experiences.

  3. Mary K says:

Not romance, but I’ve really been enjoying Contact, by Carl Sagan! I’ve wanted to read it for so long.

  4. SAPPHIRE FLAMES by Ilona Andrews! Can’t wait for other people to read it cuz it’s SO GOOD

  5. Debra Giacomelli says:

I enjoyed Maxym Martineau’s debut, Kingdom of Exiles. I am awaiting her second in the series.

  6. Re Alley says:

I loved Ice Cream Lover from the quarterly bawdy bookworms box.

  7. Nikki says:

My whole reading year has been rather so-so, but my summer standout is My Brother’s Husband (both volumes) by Gengoroh Tagame and translated by Anne Ishii. It’s a sweet story.

  8. Jenny W. says:

The best book I’ve read this summer is Sweety by Amanda Zuill. Yes, it’s a children’s picture book, but this book made me smile so hard. Sweety is a naked mole rat. With head-gear. And glasses! I DIE. The illustration are crazy cute and the story is about realizing how awesome you already are. And who isn’t down with that?

  9. Selina says:

My favorite read this summer was Midnight Riot by Ben Aaronovitch.

  10. JenniferH says:

As I live in Australia but spent five weeks in Europe on holiday in July/August, I have had both winter and summer, although as most of the time we were in Scotland, the weather wasn’t much warmer than Winter in Melbourne. One of the books I enjoyed the most recently is Someone to Honour by Mary Balogh, which was waiting for me at the library when I returned home.

  11. Mary says:

Shades of wicked by Jeaneine Frost. I had not read any of her books in a few years and this was the first one I tried again- it just came to me at the right time. Loved it

  12. Bri says:

I loved The Bride Test! I have had a rough summer and romance has been a great escape for me.

  13. Shelley Holbrooks says:

I loved Reticence by Gail Carriger. It was a beautiful wrap up of The Parasol Protectorate series. Happy endings all around!

  14. Eliza says:

My favourite book so far was The Girl on the Train. I don’t usually read thrillers; I was on the edge of my seat.

  15. Janine says:

One favorite was Ayesha at Last by Uzma Jalaluddin–a retelling of Pride and Prejudice in which the hero and heroine are Muslims living in Toronto. I read it while I was off-stage in a community theater production and almost missed a couple of entrances because I got so involved!

  16. I really loved Ayesha At Last by Uzma Jalaluddin. It’s an absolutely wonderful Pride & Prejudice re-imagining with a Lizzy/Darcy that I uh-dored.

  17. Emily says:

I loved The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren. It was cute and funny, and I just felt happy reading it.

  18. Zoe says:

I absolutely devoured GET A LIFE, CHLOE BROWN by Talia Hibbert. (ARC–pubs in November.) By far my favorite romance of the year, and would have been longer if I hadn’t read THE KISS QUOTIENT last year.

  19. Zoe says:

  20. Lauren says:

My favorites this summer are split between Sweep of the Blade by Ilona Andrews and Kill the Queen by Jennifer Estes

  21. Carrie E says:

I picked up Pathfinder’s Way by TA White based on a rec Ilona Andrews posted on her blog and am so glad I did! It’s been awhile since I stayed up until 2:30am to finish a book (cuz I get up at 5am on weekdays), but this was too good to put down. Thank goodness it was the weekend!

  22. Jillian G. says:

I’ve been loving the Veronica Speedwell series this summer!

  23. TaraR says:

I loved “The Flatshare” by Beth O’Leary. It reminded me of “Attachments” by Rainbow Rowell, which is an all-time favorite of mine.

  24. Deb says:

I finally read Mr. Impossible by Loretta Chase and absolutely loved it.

  25. Sarah M says:

I just read the newest by Tessa Dare and Sarah Maclean, but if I had to choose an overall favorite book from this summer I would have to choose Barrayar by Lois McMaster Bujold. Not a romance, but it does contain A romance between two of my favorite characters of all time.

  26. Xanda says:

I loved the Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren and then I binged the full Innkeeper Chronicles by Ilona Andrews and am eagerly anticipating the next!

  27. i just finished Jesmyn Wards’ Sing, Unburied Sing. It was haunting and so beautifully written I was gasping in my chair. As an African American, there is also a special kind of terror for vengeful slave/chaingang/lynching ghost.

  28. Bagel says:

My favorite book this summer was new to me (and not a romance, although there was some minor romantic plot): ‘Children of Time’ by Adrian Tchaikovsky. My favorite romance this summer was ‘Polaris Rising’ by Jessie Mihalik. Both were science fiction, both had some strong female (and male) protagonists and both were very enjoyable!

  29. Celia says:

Pride, Prejudice, and Other Flavors by Sonali Dev. SO SO good!

  30. Charlie Moody says:

I’d have to say my favorite recently was The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren. I loved the characters and it made me laugh and get emotional. It was the first book I’ve read by these authors and I will definitely be reading more.

  31. Trix says:

Andrea Lawlor’s PAUL TAKES THE FORM OF A MORTAL GIRL, the genderqueer shapeshifter early-’90s nostalgia novel with fairy tale elements I didn’t know I needed. (It would be a brilliant selection for a quirky, sex-positive book club.) I’m on the waiting list for the audiobook, so psyched!

  32. Gigi says:

My favorite reads this summer include two books by Tessa Bailey Fix Her Up and Runaway Girl, the Hollow of Fear by Sherry Thomas and Illegally Yours by Kate Meader.

  33. denise says:

It hasn’t been released yet, but I loved the are of How to Love a Duke in Ten Days by Kerrigan Byrne.

  34. Jennifer McCann says:

Catching up on my Tessa Bailey backlog of ebooks. So good!

  35. Chantal says:

I’ve read a few books this summer that just gave me all the feels and left me fuzzy & warm inside. My favorite book so far has been Gods of Jade & Shadow by Sylvia-Moreno Garcia. The other faves were all SBTB recommended ♡.

  36. Marlene says:

love reading everyone’s suggestions . . . for something a little different, I really enjoyed The Lost Girls of Paris by Pam Jenoff (fiction, but maybe a little bit of kick-ass women in recent history)

  37. Paige Nieto says:

While I’m not done yet I am confident t
the Bride Test is gonna be one. The other one was A Man Called Ove. That book just flat out touched my soul.

  38. Laura Mason says:

I just finished devouring the Hidden Legacy/ Nevada Baylor trilogy by Ilona Andrews (I know I’m very late to this game).
This series had so many good elements – my fave being the mission impossible scene with 2 ferrets and a ferret badger!!! Turns out that is all the things I needed while I recover from the haze of my Masters degree!!!!

  39. Kasi says:

My favorite this summer was Three Women…non fiction that read like fiction.

  40. Melissa says:

    Northern Lights by Nora Roberts.
