This HaBO request comes from Jyoti, who is searching for this contemporary romance:
So I read this werewolf book a while back and I was either dreaming or in a drug-induced state because I cant remember anything, but the most basic plot points. Author? Nope. Cover? Nope. Name? I wish. I have searched endless amounts of Goodreads lists and book blogs trying to find this book that I so enjoyed once upon a time. Maybe even just to prove I’m not imagining it. I have conceded defeat after almost six months of internet searches.
So here is what I remember. It’s a series (though I only remember the first book). It starts with three university grad students, who have come to this town with the lead of their friend. I know it’s an American town, but I don’t know if it’s real or not. It’s urban fantasy.
The main character brought her friends to the mountains of this town to study werewolves, who in this world are reclusive. Before they go to the mountain, they stay sneaking into a motel. I think they have the money but the girl just wants to sneak in for fun?
Anyways, the girl has these splitting headaches or nightmares or something and can only get to sleep if she smokes weed.
Her friends are a man and woman. The guy is reluctant to go and they soon camp near the edge of the wolves’ territory. They get captured, but not before the heroine gives the a werewolf sentinel a serious smackdown and pisses him off. They take them to the alpha, who is intrigued by the heroine because she isn’t afraid and speaks her mind. She soon convinces him to allow her and her friends to stay and they all quickly become part of the pack.
Apart from that, it turns out she grew up a wolf, but didn’t change. She was sold by her father and eventually joined the human world.
She gets together with the alpha. And there’s one scene where the heroine has a major freakout because she can’t sleep. The sentinels who confiscated her belongings also took her weed. Oh and her friend, the woman, falls for one of the sentinels.
The more I write. The dumber this story seems but its become my personal Moby Dick. Please, please help me.
Sometimes, HaBOs really know how to sell me on a book.

I have no idea what this is, but it’s nice to see positive MMJ representation out there!
Also haven’t a clue, but by an odd coincidence I just finished A. Zavarelli’s CONVICT today and I have never encountered a romance novel that had so much pot smoking going on. There’s a subplot about the hero’s grow operation and how the h&h (both victims of horribly-abusive childhoods) use his product to self-medicate. Not exactly a sunshiny read.
That sounds really similar to Shelly Laurenstons Pack Challenge series.. Go Fetch! Is the first one…
Oops Pack Challenge is the one – not go Fetch!
