  • The Wedding Date

The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory

The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory is $1.99! Elyse read this one and gave it a B:

The Wedding Date is charming and delightful, and it saved me from getting overly hysterical on a flight to Costa Rica. It’s not a perfect book, and I found myself giving the hero my “WTF” face a few times, but the awesomeness of the heroine thrilled me.

A groomsman and his last-minute guest are about to discover if a fake date can go the distance in a fun and flirty debut novel.

Agreeing to go to a wedding with a guy she gets stuck with in an elevator is something Alexa Monroe wouldn’t normally do. But there’s something about Drew Nichols that’s too hard to resist.

On the eve of his ex’s wedding festivities, Drew is minus a plus one. Until a power outage strands him with the perfect candidate for a fake girlfriend…

After Alexa and Drew have more fun than they ever thought possible, Drew has to fly back to Los Angeles and his job as a pediatric surgeon, and Alexa heads home to Berkeley, where she’s the mayor’s chief of staff. Too bad they can’t stop thinking about the other…

They’re just two high-powered professionals on a collision course toward the long distance dating disaster of the century–or closing the gap between what they think they need and what they truly want…

  • Well Hung

    Well Hung by Lauren Blakely

Well Hung by Lauren Blakely is 99c at Amazon and Kobo! This is the third book in the Big Rock series, and admittedly, I love the cheeky covers and titles. However, I’ve been unable to get around to reading them because I believe the books are all hero POV, which isn’t my favorite.

Here’s what you need to know about me — I’m well-off, well-hung and quick with a joke. Women like a guy who makes them laugh. Even better if he’s loyal and hard-working. That’s me.

Enter Natalie. Hot, sexy, smart, and my new assistant. Which makes her totally off limits…

Hey, I’m a good guy. Really. I do my best to stay far away from the kind of temptation she brings to work. Until one night in Vegas…

Yeah, you’ve heard this one before. Bad news on the business front, drowning our sorrows in a few too many Harvey Wallbangers, and then I’m banging her. In my hotel room. In her hotel room. Behind the Titanic slot machine at the Flamingo (don’t ask). And before I can make her say “Oh God right there YES!” one more time, we’re both saying yes–the big yes–at a roadside chapel in front of a guy in press-on sideburns and a shiny gold leisure suit.

We’ll just untie the knot in the morning, right?

The trouble is . . . I don’t know how to keep my hands off my soon-to-be ex-wife.

  • Heartbreaker

    Heartbreaker by Inara Scott

Heartbreaker by Inara Scott is 99c! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and is being price-matched. This one is on my TBR pile, mainly because of the beautiful smush face Mastiff on the cover. Readers say this one starts of well, but the couple gets together too quickly.

    Mistakes? She’s made a few…

Dropped out of high school? Check. Ran away with loser boyfriend at age sixteen? Check. Fell for every line from every guy? Sadly, check. But now, Tess Paplion has started over. Juggling multiple part-time jobs while finishing her college degree, she’s not letting anything get in her way. Especially not a sexy angel investor with “one-night disaster” written all over him.

Mason Coleman just inherited a 200-pound invalid Mastiff—and an intriguing, unusual, and thoroughly infuriating dog nanny who turns his life upside down the moment she steps through his front door. No matter how she makes him feel Mason doesn’t do commitment—so what happens when he falls for her? And worse, what happens when she wants nothing to do with him?

  • Red Sister

    Red Sister by Mark Lawrence

Red Sister by Mark Lawrence is $1.99! This is the first book in an epic fantasy series. This book came onto my radar after Poppy’s Magical Institution post because Teev left an amazing comment for this:

Here are the first two lines of the book. They hooked me and I really enjoyed the ride. “It is important, when killing a nun, to ensure that you bring an army of sufficient size. For Sister Thorn of the Sweet Mercy Convent Lano Tacsis brought two hundred men.”

The international bestselling author of the Broken Empire and the Red Queen’s War trilogies begins a stunning epic fantasy series about a secretive order of holy warriors…

At the Convent of Sweet Mercy, young girls are raised to be killers. In some few children the old bloods show, gifting rare talents that can be honed to deadly or mystic effect. But even the mistresses of sword and shadow don’t truly understand what they have purchased when Nona Grey is brought to their halls.

A bloodstained child of nine falsely accused of murder, guilty of worse, Nona is stolen from the shadow of the noose. It takes ten years to educate a Red Sister in the ways of blade and fist, but under Abbess Glass’s care there is much more to learn than the arts of death. Among her class Nona finds a new family—and new enemies.

Despite the security and isolation of the convent, Nona’s secret and violent past finds her out, drawing with it the tangled politics of a crumbling empire. Her arrival sparks old feuds to life, igniting vicious struggles within the church and even drawing the eye of the emperor himself.

Beneath a dying sun, Nona Grey must master her inner demons, then loose them on those who stand in her way.

  1. Mary says:

I just finished Red Sister a few days ago. It’s a lot of fun and has the whole “magical school” thing going for it if you’re into that. Also love a good story where like 80% of the cast is interesting women and girls.

  2. snackle says:

I had to hard agree with the Heaving Bosoms ladies on The Wedding Date — it was like romance-lite. I loved the heroine, but didn’t see the chemistry everybody in the book seemed to be exclaiming about. I’d really recommend something like The Hating Game instead.

  3. Cristie says:

Amy Lane’s Homebird (m/m romance) is a Kindle daily deal & only 99 cents today.

  4. Batman says:

Intrigued by Red Sister… is it YA?

  5. Amanda says:

    @Batman: I don’t believe so.

  6. Teev says:

OOh I’m all giggle bubbles at the mention.

@Batman: it didn’t feel like YA to me and FWIW my library files it under SCIFI not YA.

  7. Lostshadows says:

    @Batman Not YA

  8. LMC says:

I have not read HEART BREAKER, but if you want a inherited dog/couple story, Annika Martin’s MOST ELIGIBLE BILLIONAIRE has a dog inheriting a company much to the consternation of the unsuspecting female neighbor who gets custody of the dog and handsome (yet flawed) son who expected to inherit. Sadly, no photo of the dog on the cover.

  9. JJB says:

@Batman, no definitely not YA. I didn’t find it to be quite as dark as Mark Lawrence’s other work but that’s not saying much. There’s def a few TWs, but it’s been a while for me so I’m not comfortable listing, lest I miss one.

I loved it tho, and I really need to read the next one…

  10. Darlynne says:

SLOW HORSES by Mick Herron is finally available on Amazon for $1.99. For those who aren’t yet tired of me pushing this first book about disgraced MI5 agents, I highly recommend it.

  11. flchen1 says:

I really enjoyed Heartbreaker. And I liked the glimpses we had of the hero’s friends–looking forward to their stories!

  12. Darlynne says:

@Teev: always interested in killer nuns. Thank you!

  13. Just bought Slow Horses and Red Sister – thanks! Now I have to get back on the treadmill so I can go back to reading.

  14. QOTU says:

Interested in Red Sister. I read all the Robin Lafevers series about convent of assasin, so I hope these are different, and also good.
Those, btw, @Batman I think are marketed as YA, but mature themes, obviously , in case you Are trying to differentiate
