Master of Temptation
Master of Temptation by Nicole Jordan is 99c! This is a historical romance and the first book in the Paradise series. The setup sounds rather interesting, though I did see one reviewer who mention that there was too much sex and not enough focus on the cool secret society.
In her dazzling new novel, Nicole Jordan tempts readers with a tale of breathless splendor and soul-searing passion.
Lovers in paradise . . .He is a brilliant military commander . . . and every woman’s temptation. When Max Leighton unexpectedly comes to her golden Mediterranean island, Caro Evers longs to heal his emotional battle scars. But during one glorious night in his arms, she discovers a sensual master whose mere touch drives her to wild abandon.
She is the bewitching angel he can’t forget. Jaded by the glittering ballrooms of Regency London, Max returns to Cyrene to find the temptress who haunts his dreams . . . only to learn that Caro leads a dangerous double life. She’s a warrior as well as a healer—a member of a secret society of protectors, sworn to fight evil and tyranny across Europe.
Afraid to lose her heart to Max again, Caro vows to conquer her fierce tenderness for him and thwart his campaign to win her. Then a perilous mission of adventure takes them far from Cyrene’s sun-splashed shores, entwining their destinies and challenging their deepest desires.

The Zig Zag Girl
The Zig Zag Girl by Elly Griffiths is $2.99! This is book one in the Magic Men Mysteries series. It’s a post-WWII historical mystery with magicians. Readers found the book to be fun, but mentioned it wasn’t as engaging as Griffith’s Ruth Galloway series.
Brighton, 1950.
When the body of a girl is found, cut into three, Detective Inspector Edgar Stephens is reminded of a magic trick, the Zig Zag Girl.
The inventor of the trick, Max Mephisto, is an old friend of Edgar’s. They served together in the war as part of a shadowy unit called the Magic Men.
Max is still on the circuit, touring seaside towns in the company of ventriloquists, sword-swallowers and dancing girls. Changing times mean that variety is not what it once was, yet Max is reluctant to leave this world to help Edgar investigate. But when the dead girl turns out to be known to him, Max changes his mind.
Another death, another magic trick: Edgar and Max become convinced that the answer to the murders lies in their army days. When Edgar receives a letter warning of another ‘trick’, the Wolf Trap, he knows that they are all in danger…

Duchess by Deception
Duchess by Deception by Marie Force is $1.99 at Amazon! This is the first book in Force’s Gilded historical romance series. Those familiar with Force’s contemporary romances and romantic suspense series weren’t as taken with this one, given the historical inaccuracies. However, other readers loved the main characters and their chemistry together.
In New York Times bestselling author Marie Force’s dazzling historical romance debut, the clock is ticking for a wealthy Duke who must marry by his thirtieth birthday—or lose his title . . .
Derek Eagan, the dashing Duke of Westwood, is well aware of his looming deadline. But weary of tiresome debutantes, he seeks a respite at his country home in Essex—and encounters a man digging on his property. Except he’s not a man. He’s a very lovely woman. Who suddenly faints at his feet.
Catherine McCabe’s disdain for the aristocracy has already led her to flee an arranged marriage with a boorish Viscount. The last thing she wants is to be waylaid in a Duke’s home. Yet, she is compelled to stay by the handsome, thoughtful man who introduces himself as the Duke’s estate manager.
Derek realizes two things immediately: he is captivated by her delicate beauty, and to figure out what she was up to, Catherine must not know he is the Duke. But as they fall passionately in love, Derek’s lie spins out of control. Will their bond survive his deception, not to mention the scorned Viscount’s pursuit? Most important, can Catherine fall in love all over again—this time with the Duke?

Rum and Raindrops
Rum and Raindrops by Jean Oram is 99c at Amazon, but $3.99 elsewhere! This is the second book in the Blueberry Springs small town romance series. The first book is FREE, if you want to try this author out. A lot of the promo and reviews mention this being a “sweet romance,” and I’m unsure if that’s shorthand for it having little to no on-the-page sex. Have you read this one?
One nature guide. One accidental forest fire. And one steamy investigator hot on her tail.
Life would be easy for Jen Kulak if she hadn’t just burned down the forest she depends upon for her business’s wilderness adventures. It would be even easier if she hadn’t accidentally fallen head over heels for the fire investigator tracking her every move.
When the pressure on Jen heats up will she run like she has in the past? Or will she find the strength to fight the accusations that could cost her everything, including her own happily ever after?
Find out in this small town contemporary sweet romance, the second standalone book in the Blueberry Springs series.

THE ZIGZAG GIRL was kind of a surprise. I have no idea what I expected, but the book had a setting and characters not usually encountered. There might have been a twist at the end? I’d rate this as “worth reading, maybe borrow it.”
Hi!
Thanks for mentioning my book, Rum and Raindrops! I’ve been loving Smart Bitches, Trashy Books from afar for many years.
I can clarify the “Sweet Romance” tag reviewers have given it. It’s a romantic comedy with the heroine having some sexy (not explicit) thoughts about HHMH (His Holy Major Hotness–the hero), and there is no sex on the page. No swearing, either. Just fun shenanigans as Jen tries not to fall for the man investigating her.
And yes, the book is 99 cents on Amazon in some countries, and is also 99 cents on Apple in a few as well–but just until the 26th. 🙂
Happy reading!
Jean Oram
I’m a fan of Marie Force’s Fatal series, so I was quite interested to read the author’s Duchess by Deception. I was disappointed.
