Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

HaBO: Storm is a Catalyst for Secret Baby Plot

You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!

This HaBO comes from Geraldine, who is looking for a contemporary romance:

I read this book about 7 years ago, but I think it was used at that time.

The hero comes through town (in a truck?) and meets the waitress at a local truck stop. It is very bad weather, so he comes home with her. Several months later, he comes to the restaurant again and she is pregnant with his child. He is flabbergasted, says something stupid, and she dumps a pitcher of cold water on him.

He convinces her to come home to his ranch with him (he is very well to do). However, his mother is very mean about the situation and hires a private investigator. He is furious she is upsetting the heroine and throws his mom out of the house. Very passive dad tells off his wife.

That is really all I remember, except it ends happily. And I think it was is one of the Harlequin lines, or maybe Signature – can’t remember which line exactly.

I know this isn’t a lot of info, but I’d really like to find this book again! Thanks for your help!

Who knows this one?

This kind of sounds like The Brands Who Came For Christmas by Maggie Shayne but it’s been a while since I read it so I may be off on the details. I can say that the cover that shows on Goodreads is not the original cover so don’t necessarily go by that.

  2. Amanda Leonard says:

It sounds like Sharon Sala’s Sympathy Pains. The hero is stuck for the night because of a storm and the heroine offers to let him wait out the storm and comes back months later to maybe see her again. The title is because he gets sympathy pains along with the heroine.

That’s it – Sharon Sala’s Sympathy Pains!! Thank you so much – I’ve been trying to find it for years!! HaBO rules!
