Calling all audiobook listeners! We have a giveaway for you!
Author Stephanie Burgis has provided us with 8 download codes for Volume 1 of the Harwood Spellbook which contains the prequel novella, Spellswept, and the first novella in the series, Snowspelled.
The volume has over seven hours of audio content and the download codes will be for Audiobooks.com.
The descriptions for both fantasy romances are below:
Spellswept: A Prequel to the Harwood SpellbookIn the world of the Harwood Spellbook, 19th-century Angland is ruled by a powerful group of women known as the Boudiccate – but in order to become a member of that elite group, any ambitious young politician must satisfy tradition by taking a gentleman mage for her husband.
Amy Standish is a born politician…but Jonathan Harwood is her greatest temptation. On the night of the Harwoods’ Spring Solstice Ball, in an underwater ballroom full of sparkling fey lights and danger, Amy will have to fight the greatest political battle of her life to win a family and a future that she could never have imagined.
It will take an entirely unexpected kind of magic to keep everything from crashing down around her.
Warning: this novella contains forbidden romance, dangerous magic, and political intrigue in an underwater ballroom. What could possibly go wrong?
“A niftily done short romance in a satisfyingly gender-role-reversed world.” – K.J. Charles, author of Spectred Isle
Snowspelled: Volume I of The Harwood SpellbookFour months ago, Cassandra Harwood was the first woman magician in Angland, and she was betrothed to the brilliant, intense love of her life.
Now Cassandra is trapped in a snowbound house party deep in the elven dales, surrounded by bickering gentleman magicians, manipulative lady politicians, her own interfering family members, and, worst of all, her infuriatingly stubborn ex-fiancé, who refuses to understand that she’s given him up for his own good.
But the greatest danger of all lies outside the manor in the falling snow, where a powerful and malevolent elf-lord lurks…and Cassandra lost all of her own magic four months ago.
To save herself, Cassandra will have to discover exactly what inner powers she still possesses – and risk everything to win a new kind of happiness.
“With its unique twist on the Regency Era, SNOWSPELLED is clever, romantic, and filled with magic. Stephanie Burgis is a fresh new voice and I can’t wait to see what she does next. Bring on the sequel!” – Ilona Andrews, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author of the Kate Daniels series and the Hidden Legacy series
Excerpts for both books can be found on Burgis’ website, if you’re curious!

I’d like the ability to ‘relive’ days on a small scale without mucking up the timeline. My unpredictable health means that I miss out on a lot, as do my friends and family. As a result I cherish the ‘good days’ and would love to return to them, and when there are big things I have to miss with the people I love (weddings, birthdays, funerals, holidays, picnics, graduations, nativities) I would love to be able to try again. That would be a very super power, indeed, if not the one most likely to change the world.
If not that, then teleportation. If I could cut out journeys then maybe I could manage more of those good days the first time around. And let’s face it, accidentally splicing my dodgy dna with that of a fly could only be an improvement! 🙂
I’ve never really thought about a super power before so it’s been an interesting morning. The first thought I had was how nice it would be to turn people into toads. But then I realized that was a bit silly.. Teleporting would be a lot of fun. Then someone mentioned healing powers. I’ve always regretted not going to med school. Being an excellent diagnostician would be enough for me….
I think I would choose telekinesis — it sure would make weekend chores go a lot faster!
Once, I would have said teleportation, so that I could spend time with my loved ones wherever they are, and see parts of the world I will probably never get to in real life. But as I have gotten older and wiser, I think I would prefer the gift of healing. Not so much for myself (though it would be nice) as for others.
Flight! Or the ability to find lost things
Teleportation!!!
Every time I get stuck at a res light I practice my stoplight changing powers— alas to no avail yet.
The power to remove trash/human-made items from an environment. As a kid I had a vivid image of some magic person who could snap their fingers and pull all garbage out of the ocean and put in the landfill where it belonged. The mind of a child…
The ability to apparats/teleport. I love to travel and have family and friends who live far away who I’d love to see more!
I would like to stop time so I could take part in the bad decisions book club and study all in the same night.
If I could have a magical power it would be shapeshifting. As a nb person, that would make my life better. Also, my personality is pretty cat-like, so it would be cool to be able to turn into one, haha.
Ooh, it’s hard to choose a magical power…but I think that it would have to be the ability to go without sleep! I would get so much more done!
Teleportation would also be cool…
