Links: Tattoos, Mythology, & More

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses. It’s Wednesday and BookLovers Con is about to kick off! SBTB is here and we’d love to meet you if you see us all out and about. We also are doing a live podcast taping tomorrow. If you reserved your spot for that, it’s going to be a fantastic time!

I’m a sucker for mythology retellings in romance, so I particularly loved these recommendations by Sil over at Frolic.Media! I’ve only read one of them, which means the rest are going on my TBR pile!

I absolutely adore this story of a kid exclaiming his awe during an orchestral performance. It took some time to locate the boy, but they found him and have offered him a meeting with artistic director of the Handel and Haydn Society. There’s also a recording of the aforementioned moment within the article.

Need a new obsession? How about this gorgeous embroidery style tattoos from an artist based out of Brazil?

I’ve recently discovered Cherry Picks, which is similar to Rotten Tomatoes but focuses on critiquing film through female, femme, and non-binary perspectives. They also have some great themed collections like “Kids Cramping Our Style” and “Funny Female Ensembles.”

If you ever need a mindless, but fun game, head over to Damn Dog! Damn Dog shows you an illustration from a wikiHow article and you have to guess to which article the image belongs.

..

Don’t forget to share what super cool things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

That tattoo is amazing! My first thought was ouch, it must’ve hurt to sew that on.

  2. Ren Benton says:

OMG, that WikiHow thing… I kept getting “How to Convince People You’re a Vampire” as an option, and then an image with a GRAY-SKINNED DUDE IN A CAPE showed up and THE VAMPIRE THING WASN’T A CHOICE!

    I am deceased.

  3. Heather M says:

Those tattoos are wild. I wonder how they came up with the technique.
I’m super bummed right now because I was planning on getting a tattoo for my birthday, but no one will do it with the blood thinning medication I’m on (I’ve seen different opinions online, but I thought it would be ok since it’s a small piece…but no dice. Ah well.)

  4. DiscoDollyDeb says:

Two interesting articles. One about Danielle Steele (for some “women of a certain age,” she was the gateway to romance novels and she was mentioned in a recent podcast, iirc). The other is about Roy Dotrice, the actor who voiced the GoT audiobooks.

Keaton Patti had an AI write a bachelorette script. There’s no Rose God reference, but it’s pretty funny:

Victoria Alexander has The Wedding Bargain, a regency version of the 12 labours of Herakles

  7. Lora says:

    Speaking of Bachelorette…is Elyse recapping?????
    PLEASE SAY YES

  8. Tam says:

Something about the texture of that tattoo gives me the wiggins – I can feel my skin crawling. I wonder why? I can look at ordinary tattoos just fine!

  9. Jen says:

There is a free audiobook program for teens and the two offered this week are books previously mentioned on the site. Epic Crush of Genie Lo and Shadow of the Fox. My niece still hasn’t gotten around to downloading so i’ve done it for her so we can share 🙂 Looks like these are only available until 7am EST.
The coming audiobooks also look great https://www.audiobooksync.com/
