London Celebrities Collection by Lucy Parker

RECOMMENDED: London Celebrities Collection by Lucy Parker is $1.99! Huge thanks to everyone who let us know about this sale because it’s awesome. This set collections 3 contemporary romances. Sarah loves this series and you can catch her reviews here:

    Act Like It: A-
    Pretty Face: B
    Making Up: B+

The first three full-length novels in Lucy Parker’s delightfully charming London Celebrities series, available together for the first time.

    ACT LIKE IT

This just in: romance takes center stage as West End theatre’s Richard Troy steps out with none other than castmate Elaine Graham

Have the tides turned? Has English rose Lainie Graham made London’s bad boy a new man?

Sources say the mismatched pair has been spotted at multiple events, arm in arm and hip to hip. From fits of jealousy to longing looks and heated whispers, onlookers are stunned by this blooming romance.

Could the rumors be right? Could this unlikely romance be the real thing? Or are these gifted stage actors playing us all?

    PRETTY FACE

It’s not actress Lily Lamprey’s fault that she’s all curves and has the kind of voice that can fog up a camera lens. She wants to prove where her real talents lie—and that’s not on a casting couch, thank you. Luc Savage has respect, integrity and experience. He also has it bad for Lily. He’d be willing to dismiss it as a midlife crisis, but this exasperating, irresistible woman is actually a very talented actress. Unfortunately, their romance is not only raising questions about Lily’s suddenly rising career, it’s threatening Luc’s professional reputation.

The course of true love never did run smooth. But if they’re not careful, it could bring down the curtain on both their careers…

    MAKING UP

Once upon a time, circus artist Trix Lane was the best around. Her spark vanished with her confidence, though, and reclaiming either has proved…difficult. So when she’s unexpectedly thrust into the spotlight, the joy over her sudden elevation in status is cut short by a new hire on the makeup team.

Leo Magasiva: disgraced wizard of special effects. He of the beautiful voice and impressive beard. Complete dickhead and—in an unexpected twist—an enragingly good kisser.

When it comes to commitment, Trix has been there, done that, never wants to do it again. And Leo’s this close to the job of a lifetime, which would take him away from London—and from Trix. Their past is a constant barrier between them.

    It seems hopeless.

    Utterly impossible.

    And yet…

  • The Royal Runaway

The Royal Runaway by Lindsay Emory

The Royal Runaway by Lindsay Emory is $2.99! If you’re a bit of a “royal family” nerd, be sure to check out the podcast episode Sarah did with Lindsay. Some readers recommend this one if you’re in the mood for a silly, adventurous, rom-com. However, others wished the romantic threads were a bit stronger.

For fans of The Princess Diaries and The Royal We comes a fun and daring novel about a modern-day princess who teams up with a spy to find out what happened to the fiancé who left her at the altar—and who just might get her own fairytale in the process.

Princess Theodora Isabella Victoria of Drieden of the Royal House Laurent is so over this princess thing.

After her fiancé jilted her on their wedding day, she’s finally back home after spending four months in exile—aka it’s back to press conferences, public appearances, and putting on a show for the Driedish nation as the perfect princess they expect her to be. But Thea’s sick of duty. After all, that’s what got her into this mess in the first place.

So when she sneaks out of the palace and meets a sexy Scot named Nick in a local bar, she relishes the chance to be a normal woman for a change. But just as she thinks she’s found her Prince Charming for the night, he reveals his intentions are less than honorable: he’s the brother of her former fiancé, a British spy, and he’s not above blackmail. As Thea reluctantly joins forces with Nick to find out what happened the day her fiancé disappeared, together they discover a secret that could destroy a centuries-old monarchy and change life as they know it.

Funny, fast-paced, and full of more twists and turns than the castle Thea lives in, The Royal Runaway is a fresh romantic comedy that will leave you cheering for the modern-day royal who chucks the rulebook aside to create her own happily-ever-after.

  • Three Wishes

    Three Wishes by Kristen Ashley

Three Wishes by Kristen Ashley is $1.99! This is a romance with a paranormal/fantasy element in the form of a genie, though judging by the reviews, the hero ISN’T the genie. Bummer. However, other felt the actual hero was a rather ambiguous figure with a criminal background, but they say his redemption arc is worth it.

When Lily Jacobs was born, she inherited Fazire – a genie. Her family had three wishes and they’d only ever used one so Fazire was stuck in the human world. This worked since he’d become a member of the family anyway.

Even with a genie, Lily’s young life wasn’t perfect. To escape the kids making her miserable at school, Lily buried herself in romance novels. One day, when the teasing was just too much, she used one of her wishes. She told Fazire she wanted to find a man like in her books and she made the most complicated wish Fazire had ever heard. Her wished-for man had to be impossibly handsome, virile, fierce, rugged and ruthless (amongst a dozen other things).

He also had to think she was beautiful and he had to love her more than anything in the world.

Nathaniel McAllister wasn’t born to a life where there were such things as genies granting wishes. His life was filled with drugs, crime and neglect. He was running errands for a gangster before he was in his teens and, even though life and hard work led him to wealth and respectability, he always knew, deep down, he was dirty. When Nate met Lily he knew he was no good for her but as virile, fierce, rugged and ruthless as he was, Nate was no match for the pull of sweet, innocent Lily.

Unfortunately, Lily’s wish included that she and her hero go through trials and tribulations to test their love. And Fazire wasn’t only a good genie, he loved Lily – so he gave her exactly what she wanted.

  • Deadly Odds

    Deadly Odds by Adrienne Giordano

Deadly Odds by Adrienne Giordano is $2.99! This is the first book in the Casino Fortuna romantic suspense series. I like that the heroine is the security person/FBI agent in this one. Readers enjoyed the mystery elements, though others found things happened way too quickly.

At Casino Fortuna, stakes are high and the nights are hot…

A cheat is cashing in on the Strip, where deadly schemes lurk beneath the glitz and glamour. FBI agent-turned-consultant Kate Daniels hits the jackpot with her new assignment, hired by Vegas’ biggest name to ensure his casino isn’t a target. Fortuna is a high roller’s paradise, all gleaming marble and dollar signs. Even a single flaw in security could cost big bucks. Kate can’t afford distractions. Especially the tall, dark and perfectly chiseled kind. Business and pleasure don’t mix. And sleeping with the boss is a dangerous gamble.

Fortuna’s VP of casino operations, Ross Cooper, is gaming’s golden boy. He’s got a head for business, an eye for beautiful women, and a love for the Vegas lifestyle. When he spots a gorgeous redhead casing his blackjack tables, Ross is more than a little intrigued—he’s suspicious. But Kate is no thief…she’s working for him? Ross hates surprises almost as much as the idea of trouble in his casino.

Kate quickly proves she’s more than a pretty face. Her instincts and smarts are just as enticing. And when her investigation turns deadly, Ross will risk it all to keep her by his side.

  1. Laurel says:

I like a lot of Kristen Ashley’s books. They don’t all work for me, but there are some that are my favorite books (Sweet Dreams, Lady Luck, …). However, Three Wishes is probably my least favorite of her books. It was a struggle to finish it. I kept waiting for it to get better, and it never did. Your mileage may vary, but I wouldn’t recommend this one.

  2. Sandra says:

I realize character names can’t be copyrighted (trademarked?), but Kate Daniels has a very specific meaning for me. I don’t think I could read a book about a different Kate Daniels. It’s like reading a book where the hero has the same name as a sibling or ex-spouse. And I sort of wonder if the name was chosen deliberately to generate hits.

  3. Ren Benton says:

My out of print and never to be seen again for good reason American historicals circa 2000-ish would like to have a chat with that genie book about slaves being “just like family.”

  4. Lizzy says:

@Ren yeeeaaaaah keeping sentient beings against their will to serve you isn’t how one forms a family.

  5. DiscoDollyDeb says:

I recently looked at a book from an author I’d enjoyed in the past. The hero’s name was the exact name of one of my daughter’s ex-boyfriends. There was absolutely no way I could have read that!

  6. Mary Gail says:

    @Ren, yep I found that….problematic as well.
And @Sandra unfortunately my first thought was also of Ilona Andrews’ Kate Daniels series. Which is a little unfortunate because it isn’t a super unusual name, but I do have that mental connection now!

  7. Brigit says:

Unfortunately the Lucy Parker collection seems to be some sort of geo-restricted deal? I get it neither on amazon.com (~$5) nor amazon.de (~€4) nor kobo.de. Too bad…

  8. Natalie W says:

@Sandra I am coming to the end of my first (but most definitely not last) Kate Daniels binge and that was my first thought too.

  9. WS says:

    @Sandra and @Natalie W:
Which is funny, because her name was originally Vera Voron.

  10. seantheaussie says:

Anyone who loves the humour in Act Like It and Pretty Face, needs to remember Lucy also wrote Artistic License by Elle Pierson, and it is even funnier IMHO

  11. Sandra says:

@WS: I suppose it could be worse. The casino guy’s name could have been Ghastek.

  12. Tori Puente says:

I’m excited for the 4th London Celebrities book coming out soon. A Jane Austen-style, choose-your-own-adventure house party? Yes please :O

  13. oceanjasper says:

    @Brigit: Definitely geoblocked. From Australia I get $9.65 on amazon.com and $13.60 on amazon.com.au.

  14. TamB. says:

I remember when Ilona Andrews were beginning their Hidden Legacy books, they tested the heroine’s name and asked their readers to advise if they knew of any other characters with the same/similar name. They actually changed the original name to Nevada Baylor due to a conflict.

I hope they’re aware of this series with a Kate Daniels name.

  15. Tam says:

I feel as if all authors should at least do a cursory google search of their main characters’ names. Then we don’t wind up with romantic heroes called David Cameron…

  16. Darlynne says:

@Tam: *snort laugh* Or the last name of Dukakis, which was used by an author a couple of years ago, and would never fly easily for American audiences after the 1998 Bush-Dukakis election. A good and decent man, just too jarring as the name of a romantic lead.

  17. Julia says:

I nearly fell off my chair when I read Stephen King’s short story ‘Morning Deliveries, about a demonic milkman named…Spike Milligan. I never thought of the Goons in the same way again.
