RECOMMENDED: The Last Wolf by Maria Vale is $1.99! This sale is good through the 22nd. I really enjoyed this book and its departure from the usual shifter mythology. Vale does a great job creating a sense of place. Be warned though, there is violence in the book and it is very descriptive. The next book is also discounted.

I loved The Last Wolf! It was such an interesting approach to shifters.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day to me!! I’ve wanted to read the K-9 unit series, and this sale is perfect. I thought the Shannon Stacey sounded interesting, I really like her Boston Fire series-so I’m sure I will enjoy this one. I realized I have The Last Wolf on my kindle, but haven’t read it yet. I did pick up the second one since it was on sale.
The 4th book, Through the Fire, was my favorite of the Rocky Mountain K-9 books, but the cover for that one makes me so mad because the K9 officer in that one is a half-Korean woman, which is definitely not what the cover implies. Also, if you’re not into insta-love, you might have a problem with all of them because pretty much every couple falls in love within 3 weeks of knowing each other. The first one also needs a trigger warning for off-screen childhood sexual abuse.
As a Pit Bull lover (one of our two dogs is a Pit Bull), I just love love love the Survive the Night cover.
The recommendations on this site for K9 romances make me conflicted because I love dogs, but am afraid of cops (and guns). Should I give the subgenre a shot?
The Last Wolf & its sequel A Wolf Apart are really really good. The next book in the series, Forever Wolf, comes out at the end of March.

There are good guy cops who are very nice (the K9 characters), but there are also dirty cops, guns, and organized crime. The bad guys are really bad.
There is also child abuse but it’s off screen.

Update-I’m through the first 3 of the K-9 series, and I am loving them! My family has had a Belgian Malinois since the 1990’s-so to see them featured in books, it is very cool to me. These are definitely my catnip-strong women, big protective, yet sensitive men, and so many animal friends! Dogs, horses, goats, cats-this author really hits on my sweet spots!
