  • The One You Can’t Forget

The One You Can’t Forget by Roni Loren

RECOMMENDEDThe One You Can’t Forget by Roni Loren is $1.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and is being price-matched. Be sure to check out the rest of today’s deals; there’s a Nora Roberts in there! I love this series and highly recommend any of the books in it. However, please be warned that it deals with the aftermath of a school shooting.

Most days Rebecca Lindt feels like an imposter…

The world admires her as a survivor. But that impression would crumble if people knew her secret. She didn’t deserve to be the one who got away. But nothing can change the past, so she’s thrown herself into her work. She can’t dwell if she never slows down.

Wes Garrett is trying to get back on his feet after losing his dream restaurant, his money, and half his damn mind in a vicious divorce. But when he intervenes in a mugging and saves Rebecca―the attorney who helped his ex ruin him―his simple life gets complicated.

Their attraction is inconvenient and neither wants more than a fling. But when Rebecca’s secret is put at risk, both discover they could lose everything, including what they never realized they needed: each other

She laughed and kissed him. This morning she’d melted down. But somehow this man had her laughing and turned on only a few hours later. Everything inside her felt buoyed.

    She felt…light.

She’d forgotten what that felt like.

  • The Dream Hunter

The Dream Hunter by Laura Kinsale

The Dream Hunter by Laura Kinsale is $2.99 at select vendors! This is a standalone historical romance and many reviews say this book is completely bonkers. Some also note that the audio is particularly good. Have you read this one? Is it as crazysauce as everyone says? Kinsale is on my list of authors that I need to try (and I own two books), but she keeps getting moved farther along the TBR pile.

To love him is to face her deepest fear . . .

In search of a legendary mare, Lord Winter enters the crucible of the red sands, forging unbreakable bonds of loyalty and trust with his young companion in the desert. But hidden beneath the ragged costume of a Bedouin boy is a remarkable young woman: Zenia Stanhope, daughter of the extraordinary Queen of the Desert.

Zenia wants nothing of the danger that Lord Winter lives for. She wants only to reach England, far from the blood and sand of the desert. But in one night of terror, condemned to death, their lives are irrevocably bound. Zenia escapes to an English world of elegance and comfort, leaving behind the lonely, fearless man who has changed her life and conquered her heart . . . until he returns to invade her sanctuary.

Now she must choose between safety and love, but can she find the courage to be the person she was truly born to be?

  • Hunted by the Others

Hunted by the Others by Jess Haines

Hunted by the Others by Jess Haines is $1.99 on Amazon! This is the first book in the H&W Investigations series and features all sorts of supernatural creatures. I’m a little unsure if this is paranormal romance (it was categorized as such on Amazon, but we all know how reliable that is) or if it was urban fantasy with some romantic elements. Reviewers seems to be just as on the fence.

In a town full of vampires, mages, and werewolves, detective work can be dangerous: “Dark and sexy . . . a paranormal treat” (Lara Adrian, New York Times–bestselling author).

Shiarra Waynest’s job was dangerous enough when her client base was strictly mortal. But ailing finances have forced her to accept a lucrative case that could save her firm—if it doesn’t kill her first. Shiarra has signed on to work for a high-level mage to recover an ancient artifact owned by one of New York’s most powerful vampires.

As soon as the detective meets the sexy, mesmerizing vampire Alec Royce, she knows her assignment is even more complicated than she thought. With a clandestine anti-Other group trying to recruit her and magi being eliminated, Shiarra needs backup. She enlists her ex-boyfriend—a werewolf whose non-furry form is disarmingly appealing—and a nerdy mage with surprising talents. But it may not be enough. In a city where the undead roam, magic rules, and even the Others aren’t always what they seem, Shiarra has just become the secret weapon in a battle between good and evil—whether she likes it or not.

  • The Most Dangerous Duke in London

The Most Dangerous Duke in London by Madeline Hunter

The Most Dangerous Duke in London by Madeline Hunter is 99c! This is book one in the Decadent Dukes Society series. The hero wants revenge and the heroine just wants to go about publishing her women’s journal. Readers like the enemies to lovers aspect of the romance, but others wouldn’t recommend this one on audio as the narrator didn’t fit for them.

Three sinfully handsome dukes, three scores to settle, three hearts about to meet their matches. All in one thrilling new trilogy from New York Times bestselling author Madeline Hunter . . .

    NOTORIOUS NOBLEMAN SEEKS REVENGE
Name and title: Adam Penrose, Duke of Stratton.
Affiliation: London’s elite Society of Decadent Dukes.
    Family history: Scandalous.
Personality traits: Dark and brooding, with a thirst for revenge.
Ideal romantic partner: A woman of means, with beauty and brains, willing to live with reckless abandon.
Desire: Clara Cheswick, gorgeous daughter of his family’s sworn enemy.

FAINT OF HEART NEED NOT APPLY
Clara may be the woman Adam wants, but there’s one problem: she’s far more interested in publishing her women’s journal than getting married—especially to a man said to be dead-set on vengeance. Though, with her nose for a story, Clara wonders if his desire for justice is sincere—along with his incredibly unnerving intention to be her husband. If her weak-kneed response to his kiss is any indication, falling for Adam clearly comes with a cost. But who knew courting danger could be such exhilarating fun?

  1. DonnaMarie says:

The One You Can’t Forget was one of my favorite reads last year. Highly recommend.

  2. Just chiming in to say that HUNTED BY THE OTHERS is very much urban fantasy with a romantic subplot (and not too heavy of one. I did a quick re-read of my review of the book from 2011 and I didn’t even mention a romance in the first book.)

  3. Claudia says:

Yes, ‘The Dream Hunter’ has a healthy dose of crazysauce. I also wanted to hit both MCs over their heads for most of the book. I believe they manage to be at odds yet again with two pages to go. It’s still Kinsale though, so it makes you think and ponder and suffer right along with the MCs. I’d recommend esp. at this price.

  4. Liv says:

I absolutely love the Loren series, it’s so different than most contemporaries with the back story, it adds more depth than others.

  5. Mary says:

Chiming in with love for the Loren series. This one might have been my favorite. I was a sucker for the dogs and the “troubled youth” side plot.

  6. Beck says:

Well, that didn’t last long! Hunted by the Others by Jess Haines is $7.99 (Amazon) now. Oh well, maybe next time.

  7. KellyM says:

@ Beck I would wait for the Hunted By The Others 4 book bundle to go on sale. I picked the set up a while ago for $2.99 They are teetering near the top of my TBR tower. My TBR is so big that it has it’s own shelves. Front of the line, next to be read, and the basic TBR. lol. I might have to add a May never get to in my lifetime shelf.

  8. WS says:

The Dream Hunter is probably my least favorite Kinsale, but I still think it’s well done.

  9. WS says:

Also, all Kinsale comes with a giant helping of crazysauce. Also, they tend to be about *deeply* damaged people.

I recommend Flowers from the Storm, with the caveat that Christian is really a jerk— which, and let’s be honest, can often be said about one or more of Kinsale’s main characters. He does improve, but you have to be willing to get to that improvement. OMG, do I love trying to summarize the plot of that book for people, because it’s crazy? But you totally buy it when you read it. I truly did love it, and it was the reason I read all of Kinsale’s other books.

I had issues with Zenia in the Dream Hunter which were never entirely resolved, though, which is why it’s my least favorite.

  10. Ren Benton says:

On Friday, THE BLACK GOD’S DRUM by P. Djèlí Clark is $1.99. “Haitian sky pirates, wily street urchins, and orisha magic” “romp through the steampunk bayous of an alternate New Orleans.” It’s 112 pages and a Tor book, so this may be the only time it’s reasonably priced for a novella.

  11. KellyM says:

All seven books of Cindy Kirk’s Good Hope series are on sale.

  12. Ellie says:

I tried to read hunted by others, and did not finish it. There were several passages that smacked of casual ‘speciesism’, for lack of a better word, in a way that too closely paralleled actual modern racism.

  13. Ellie says:

Also, there is a Shelly Laurenston bundle, the first four books in The Pride series, on sale for $2.99.
