  • All In

    All In by Simona Ahrnstedt

RECOMMENDED: All In by Simona Ahrnstedt is $1.99! Redheadedgirl gave the book an A:

I felt like this was full of Shakespearean drama, and scheming families, and hot sex, and gorgeous clothes, but also some important things to say about how the world is functioning. There’s a lot going on, though, and the ending a tad rushed.

In the cutthroat world of Sweden’s financial elite, no one knows that better than corporate raider David Hammar. Ruthless. Notorious. Unstoppable. He’s out to hijack the ultimate prize, Investum. After years of planning, all the players are in place; he needs just one member of the aristocratic owning family on his side–Natalia De la Grip.

Elegant, brilliant, driven to succeed in a man’s world, Natalia is curious about David’s unexpected invitation to lunch. Everyone knows that he is rich, dangerous, unethical; she soon discovers he is also deeply scarred.

The attraction between these two is impossible, but the long Swedish nights unfold an affair that will bring to light shocking secrets, forever alter a family, and force both Natalia and David to confront their innermost fears and desires.

  • Attachments

    Attachments by Rainbow Rowell

RECOMMENDEDAttachments by Rainbow Rowell is $1.99! Sarah really enjoyed this one and gave it an A-:

I read this book while flying, and fought the Ambien I’d taken to keep reading it. The best thing about the story is that it’s alarmingly easy to sink into. Epistolary novels work very well on me for that reason. It’s a point of view that, if I like the narrators (and I did), is extremely accessible to my imagination.

“Hi, I’m the guy who reads your e-mail, and also, I love you …”

Beth Fremont and Jennifer Scribner-Snyder know that somebody is monitoring their work e-mail. (Everybody in the newsroom knows. It’s company policy.) But they can’t quite bring themselves to take it seriously. They go on sending each other endless and endlessly hilarious e-mails, discussing every aspect of their personal lives.

Meanwhile, Lincoln O’Neill can’t believe this is his job now- reading other people’s e-mail. When he applied to be “internet security officer,” he pictured himself building firewalls and crushing hackers- not writing up a report every time a sports reporter forwards a dirty joke.

When Lincoln comes across Beth’s and Jennifer’s messages, he knows he should turn them in. But he can’t help being entertained-and captivated-by their stories.

By the time Lincoln realizes he’s falling for Beth, it’s way too late to introduce himself.

    What would he say …?

  • Nowhere But Home

Nowhere But Home by Liza Palmer

Nowhere but Home by Liza Palmer is $1.99! The culinary heroine was just fired from her job as a chef and must return to her small, hometown in Texas, where she goes to work as a chef for the local prison. But these aren’t just any inmates. She’s cooking last meals for those on death row. Readers say the book has a great combination of humor and tension, though a couple found the book did more telling than showing. We also had the author on the podcast previously, if you missed it!

After Queenie Wake is dismissed from her restaurant job, she returns to North Star to cook meals for death row inmates.

Hopeful that the bad memories of her late mother and promiscuous sister (now the mother of the captain of the high school football team) have been forgotten by the locals, Queenie discovers that some people can’t be forgotten—heartbreaker Everett Coburn—her old high-school sweetheart.

When secrets from the past emerge, will Queenie be able to stick by her family or will she leave home again?

  • Mercury Striking

    Mercury Striking by Rebecca Zanetti

Mercury Striking by Rebecca Zanetti is 99c! This is a dystopian romance and the first in a new series. Readers loved the world building and thought the heroine had a nice blending of being confident yet vulnerable. However, some said they felt a little lost in all of the action. Be warned that there is some consent issues regarding spanking, as commented by Lia in a previous sale post.

With nothing but rumors to lead her, Lynn Harmony has trekked across a nightmare landscape to find one man—a mysterious, damaged legend who protects the weak and leads the strong. He’s more than muscle and firepower—and in post-plague L.A., he’s her only hope. As the one woman who could cure the disease, Lynn is the single most volatile—and vulnerable—creature in this new and ruthless world. But face to face with Jax Mercury…

Danger has never looked quite so delicious…

  1. DonnaMarie says:

I must share the love for the aptly named All In. It’s all in there: revenge trope, enemy to lover trope, disfunctional family trope, and as I have mentioned on many previous occasionals, an Oprah’s Favorite Things level of secret babies trope. It was a delicious read.

  2. GraceElizabeth says:

Sadly Attachments isn’t on sale in the UK, but I think I might make a bad decision and get it anyway…

  3. Claudia says:

‘All In’ was a tad too melodramatic for me and I never warmed up to MCs but yeah, for three bucks, nice change of scene if nothing else. Also, if this book is to be believed, I want to be reborn a Swedish one percenter in my next life!! They take an awful lot of time off.

  4. Claudia says:

    Two bucks, sorry!

  5. Carole says:

I see the Kobo Buy One Get One Free sale is still on until Feb 3. Some of my Favourite Lauren Blakely titles are included, as well as romances by Carrie Ann Ryan, Melissa Foster, Carly Phillips, Jami Davenport, Jill Sanders, Marie Force, Sawyer Bennett etc. etc. etc.

  6. Peggy says:

I loved “Carry On” by Rainbow Rowell. Looking forward to reading Attachments!

Today @ amazon: Geekerella – A Fangirl Fairy Tale by Ashley Poston is $1.99 (It’s described as “Cinderella goes to the Con”)

  7. Claudia says:

I ABSOLUTELY loved Nowhere But Home!!! It tackles some hard topics and not always perfectly, but I loved the bond between the sisters and her cooking for prisoners.

  8. RebeccaA says:

I loved “Geekerella – A Fangirl Fairy Tale by Ashley Poston.” It is YA and they have a HFN. I like the friend relationship as much as the Boy – girl which starts as a texting relationship.
