2018 SBTB Hanukkah-palooza, Night Six!

A menorah against a blue and white background with the ladies quadrant in a frame next to the menorahHappy Sixth Night of Hanukkah!

Today’s giveaway will help you and your future self with the Gift of Health – now and in the new year! Maybe you’ve had a few too many sufganiyot, or you cleaned your relatives out of their entire chocolate gelt stash in your last round of dreidel (nice job!), or maybe you’re cold and a little tired, and want that delicious rush of endorphins. I love those. Endorphins are the greatest.

Whatever the reason, this prize will help you keep moving forward into the new year.

Let’s get to it!

Today’s prize is a Withings Steel HR watch!

A white watch face with silver accents and a raspberry colored band

The Steel HR Activity Watch comes in a bunch of color band combinations, retails for $179.95 and comes with a variety of features. The customization options are terrific, too. You can set it to track any number of activities with the press of the side button, and can customize which activities are your most frequent (for me, that’s running, walking, weight lifting, snowboarding, and sometimes Zumba).

It also tracks your heart rate and let me tell you, that’s some heckin’ strong motivation when I’m getting tired from a run: I bet I can keep my heart rate up to moderate or intense levels for another minute. It’s funny how more data about what I’m doing makes me want to do more. Sometimes my gift of health to myself is giving myself encouragement when I most need it, and the watch helps me out with that process in really neat ways.

Here are some additional specs:

  • Smartphone compatibility with Android and iOS.
  • Receives smartphone notifications.
  • Water resistant up to 50m.
  • 25 days of battery life.
  • Heart rate and other fitness monitoring.
  • Compatible app for fitness tracking.

Oh! And Withings has a beautiful holiday box for 2018 if you’re gift shopping for folks who may want one of their watches.

And! And! We have a coupon for shopping that lasts longer than Hanukkah – woot!

Use code SBTB10 gives you 10% off all devices including the gift boxes, with the exception of the Limited Edition and Pulse HR. The coupon is valid until January 31, 2019. Woohoo!

  1. JennyOH says:

Oof, NO idea. I’m going to not set a goal that I might not reach and say “more than I do now”.

  2. Starling says:

I want to swim 100 miles! That’s my 2019 goal.

  3. NancyRH says:

I’m aiming for a consistent 20 miles a week of running. I get sometimes now, but it is too sporadic.

  4. Alea says:

I’m averaging 10k steps a day, but some are more . . . lacksadaisical than others. I’m hoping to keep turning up the speed while walking the dog (other than when he has to stop and sniff or do other stuff, of course)

  5. Janet says:

A couple of miles weekdays, hilly hikes come Saturday!

  6. Beth P says:

No set numbers, but like King Julian in Madagascar, I like to move it move it!

  7. Ashley Morris says:

My coworker and I have found a produce stand near our work, and always take breaks to walk down to the produce stand. Buying and eating local AND we get steps in AND we get to leave our desks. Wins all around!

  8. Patti (@thelovejunkee) says:

I’d like to top 10,000 steps a day! Thanks for the giveaway – the watch is beautiful!

  9. Rhiannon says:

I’m getting back into running (intervals)/being active while doing physical therapy for a re-ankle sprain so I’m looking forward to moving more in the new year – 5k of intervals, hoping to get back to mostly running a 5k. Thanks

  10. Naomi says:

I wouldn’t have any idea how far I’ve gone this year, so it’s hard to gauge how far I’ll go next year. Hopefully I’ll be moving around more and striving for greater heights!

  11. ReneeG says:

I’ve been sloping downwards on the whole movement thing for the last three years due to two knee surgeries, so this would be great. Still recovering after latest knee surgery, so getting going is the first hurdle. This is a great deal for the watch for after-Christmas spends!

  12. Chris Alexander says:

Ugh. I have to start working out again. The goal is to do 6 days a week of at least 30 minutes of cardio. My latest kick is Beachbody’s Core de Force program.

  13. Stephanie Kota says:

I had MPFL surgery on my right knee recently, so I’m hoping to start walking in a couple of months and rejoin my spin class.

  14. D.Flores says:

I’ll be walking 3 miles a day 🙂 Currently walking 2 miles hoping to add a mile this coming year!

  15. Kris Bock says:

Just what I need to get inspired to run again! Well, a healthy foot would be nice too.

  16. CelineB says:

I’ve walked over 750 miles this year so I hope to maintain or increase that level.

  17. Anita H. says:

Hoping to get my 10000 daily steps in each day for the new year! Thanks for the chance to win!

  18. TaylorP says:

Definitely need to restart my exercise program.

  19. Barbara Bibel says:

Who knows, but it will be many miles.

  20. Erica L says:

This year I’ve been pretty consistent with walking almost 2 miles min about 5-6 days a week, so next year I’d like to make it more like 2.5 miles. Keeping it going through the winter is the most difficult even though it makes me feel good!

  21. Delia says:

I’m working towards hitting 10k steps everyday. I normally hit the mark 4 to 5 times a week, but I would like to hit that goal every day!

  22. Nettle says:

After having a baby this past year, I’m easing back into training. I used to do triathlons, but I’m going to start with a 5k race in January! Starting from 30 minutes/3ish miles a day.

  23. Becky Higgins says:

A new low cost gym is opening in my area. I hope to start walking on the treadmill for about 45 minutes each visit (may be overestimating my health and ability to do that but that is my goal) plus some light weight training. I’m going to commit to going about 3 times a week.

  25. Janiec says:

I do try to walk everywhere whenever possible, but also need to start doing yoga again.

  26. Karin says:

Thank you Susie! I’m signing up for a “senior” zumba class, as I do every January. And that gets me to 10,000 steps on those days, anyway.

  27. Sarah S. says:

Hm. My job is really active (2-5 miles of hustle, depending on the day) so when I’m at home I pretty much sit on my butt doing nothing. So with an average, probably 875-900 miles.

  28. Desiree says:

I hope to fly at least 4,000 miles roundtrip next year to visit my family this year! 🙂

  29. Suzie says:

I just bought a spin bike, which I plan to use regularly in 2019. I’ll set a goal to bike on it at least 6500 km, which is how far it is to cycle across Canada!

  30. Tina says:

I usually run 4 miles three days a week. I’m trying to increase my speed this coming year more than my distance… 625 ish run miles

  31. AmandaS says:

I definitely plan to move more in 2019! I want to get more walking done on nicer days and take the stairs more often.

  32. Katie Lynn says:

No idea, but more than 2018! I’ve started a new job, and can (and do!) walk to work, in addition to the walking that’s done while at work. The watch would certainly help me keep track!

  33. Susan S Henderson-Utis says:

I got back into running in the summer and recently completed a 5k. Yay! I like to listen to my audiobooks when I run and I just finished the entire Tea Rose saga. To keep the momentum going, this year I want to run enough to listen to all of the Laura Kinsale audiobooks. So, definitely a few miles there 🙂

  34. Lynnette says:

I have been sedentary for several years. I want to change that, but slowly enough that I’ll actually stick with it. Walking, yoga, then eventually get to to the gym. Hopefully by mid-year I’ll be able to feel good, move good and look good.

  35. Jodi says:

My daily goal is 15,000 steps per day, which I think converts to about 7 miles. I do a 2 mile run or so once a week since my right hip/ligaments have decided that more is evil, so I can’t do more. Before plantar fasciitis in 2015 I was working toward a half marathon, but health says no!

  36. JaneDrew says:

My goal is to do more yoga, which is… not so much distance as bendiness.

  37. Karen says:

I’m hoping to spin my way to longer distances in 2019. I did really well through 2017 and early 2018…and then hit a wall. Goal is to break through that wall this year!

  38. Hope-and-Memory says:

Trying to walk more, even if it’s just taking the stairs instead of the elevator or walking instead of taking the bus sometimes– hoping to *actually* reach 10,000 steps a day instead of just every once in a while!

  39. Susan J. says:

I do not set targets. I do not have a desk job. Helping the public means I have to stand and move quite often.

  40. Anna N says:

    More weightlifting!
