@Shu:
I also loved A Splendid Defiance.
A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
Kiss Quotient!
The Unsung Hero by Suzanne Brockmann. This is the first in an amazing series. Thanks SBTB for introducing me to this author!
Leverage In Death by JD Robb
Absolutely The Governess Game by Tessa Dare. I always forget how much I like her writing until I pick up another one of her books. Also, Hot Winter Nights by Jill Shalvis–I’ve got the next book in the series pre-ordered!
So many. Maybe Bone Music by Christopher Rice. Not much (though some) romance but a really kick-ass heroine.
Now I have to see what everyone else is recommending. Not that I will buy any of them, no, really, just looking.
I really liked Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik. Would rec it to everyone who like me, loves retellings.
Hot and Badgered by Shelly Laurenston. Happy Hanukkah!
Nalini Singh’s Archangel Prophecy. Recency bias cause I just finished it but I enjoyed it and the cliffhanger makes me want the next book right away!
A Man Called Ove.
Rough Trade by Sidney Bell. It’s out tomorrow. Bell writes such beautifully flawed characters.
The Innkeeper series by Ilona Andrews!
Pamela Clare’s Colorado series!
Taking It Easy by Erin Nicholas. It’s book two in her Boys of the Big Easy series, and the entire series is excellent.
If you want to read something that is absolutely in the minute, I recommend All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin. Otherwise, grab a hot beverage and snuggle in for Tessa Dare’s The Governess Game.
Happy Hanukkah! Just read today the Hallmark Channel will produce two movies with Hanukkah themes next year.
Julia Quinn- The Other Miss Bridgerton
Spinning Silver, by Naomi Novik. I am still thinking about it – so beautiful and felt very personal to me.
The Kiss Quotient. LOVED it!
Alyssa Cole – A Princess in Theory (and possibly A Duke by Design, but Overdrive returned it on me when I was less than 100 pages from the end so I am waiting to re-borrow it so I can finish it!)
I read a lot of great books this year, but many of them were published earlier, I just discovered them late. So I want to recommend something that actually was published in 2018, “The Matrimonial Advertisement” by Mimi Matthews. It has the tropes that romance readers will love(Beauty and the Beast, MOC) and also great historical accuracy and feminist politics. And it’s the first of a series, thank goodness.
The Good, The Bad, and The Duke by Janna MacGregor
I would recommend all of Ruby Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbarian series and its offshoots!! Sooo good!!
I would recommend The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang and A Notorious Vow by Joanna Shupe!
I could recommend several great books from this year, but my favorite might be The High Tide Club my Mary Kay Andrews.
Happy Hanukkah, and thanks for the great giveaway!
Iron and Magic by Ilona Andrews was amazing – would highly recommend!
Happy Hanukkah!
Sarina Bowen’s Bittersweet was delightful, and the hero, Griff the grumpy farmer, was delicious. I have read it multiple times and it’s even free from time to time (what more could a girl want?).
The Kiss Quotient!
Ilona Andrews IRON MAGIC, a first book in a new series. So, so good.
I haven’t had time to read much so I’ve been catching up on books I’ve had. I like Gone Girl.
The Kingpin of Camelot: A Fairytale Romance (A Kinda Fairytale Book 3)Jul 31, 2017
by Cassandra Gannon
The girl in the Tower by Katherine Arden, the ridiculously good sequel to the already ridiculously good The bear and the Nightingale. Absolutely wonderful medieval Russian fantasy – i’m counting the days until the third book comes on January.
The Lies of Locke Lamora, by Scott Lynch. It’s high fantasy and it can get very dark. If you like The KingKiller Chronicles or Leverage, you’ll probably like this!
Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren
Making Up by Lucy Parker
Royals by Rachel Hawkins, which is being re-named Prince Charming for the paperback release. I can’t wait for the sequel, Her Royal Highness!!!
I’ve really enjoyed the Innkeeper Chronicles by Ilona Andrew’s this year
The first book is titled Ckean Sweep and is a great read!
Helen Hoang’s The Kiss Quotient was my fav read of the year!
Courtney Milan’s After the Wedding
A Rational Arrangement by L. Rowyn
