Happy Hanukkah again! We’ve got candles, sufganiyot (jelly donuts that have been on the protein powder all year so they’re MASSIVE) (kidding) (but they are pretty big) and presents!
LOTS of presents for you.
As always, we’re celebrating the SBTB community and all the light and joy you bring, and today’s prize is all about being warm and comfy while you listen to all your favorite things.
Today’s prize is:
A pair of Sudio Tre headphones in white and rose gold!
Big thanks to Sudio for providing this prize! Tak så mycket, y’all!
The Sudio Tre are bluetooth headphones that are lightweight, extremely comfortable, and consistent in their delivery of excellent sound. I really, really like mine. They have a built-in microphone, and a battery life of up to 9 hours.
We’re also pairing them with:
Adorable plush lined slipper socks with CAT FACES on them:

Look at that face! You want your toes to look at you like that, right? Of course.

These socks are for women’s shoe sizes 4-10 (US), and are made of acrylic and polyester. They have plastic skid spots on the bottoms so you don’t slip.
And, finally, we’re going to include a $25 gift card to Amazon, suitable for use on books, audiobooks, or more socks – your choice!

My favorite holiday tradition has always been going to the local Christmas parades. When I was little, I went with my mom to some, and my grandpa to others, and now, it’s always me, my mom, and my daughter. We generally hit the two closest to us, watching the floats, talking with people we haven’t seen since the same time last year, and racing for candy.
Working in retail, and being Jewish have combined to create what I didn’t realize til now is my favorite holiday (Christmas) tradition. First, I make sure that I am on the closing shift at the store on Christmas Eve so that a co-worker who has their own tradition to uphold can leave a few hours earlier. Then, if I’m not too tired when I get home from work, I’ll put on my DVD of “Love Actually” and laugh and cry through the whole film again, again, again (although it’s been heavier on the tears these last few years… oh, Alan Rickman – how I miss you). Now I’m thinking I may have to add a viewing of
“About Time” to the tradition…
Then, after sleeping in (wayyyy in) on Christmas Day, I might – dependent on the teams – watch an NBA game on TV. That’s really just to kill time before various members of my family and I meet up for the true Jewish Christmas Day-palooza, dinner at a great Chinese restaurant. And thank you sincerely to the people who work hard on Christmas Day at Chinese restaurants and make my family’s tradition possible. We are grateful.
Then it’s back to work the next morning on possibly my least favorite work day of the year (returns, returns, returns with no receipts and more returns).
Oy!
Happy Hanukkah, everyone!
Every year we have tamales and lasagna on Christmas Eve. And everyone goes around and talks about their favorite part of the year. My mom tried to not have lasagna one year because she thinks it is a weird combo, but it was too late. We had gotten used to it and the tradition stands.
Actually, come to think of it last week she suggested turkey! so I think she’s still trying, but we shall keep our tradition alive.
My favorite tradition is making Christmas cookies with my kids and my nieces and nephews.
Getting together with the family for Easter dinner
My favorite holiday tradition is actually connected to valentine’s day. I love chocolate eating and giving!
I love just getting together with my family. Living in a different state than everyone makes spending time together at Christmas all the more special.
Having mimosas with my mom early on Thanksgiving / Christmas morning
My favorite holiday tradition is burritos for dinner on Christmas night!
Every year my husband and I watch the TV adaptation of Terry Pratchett’s Hogfather. It’s hilarious and fun and something we stumbled across by accident that’s turned into nearly a decade-long routine.
Beef Fondue – every year for Christmas Eve. For 45 years
It has to be just putting and having up Christmas decorations. So festive and makes me happy!
It’s all about the turkey dinner for me! Even years when I’m feeling kind of “meh” about the tree and the gifts and everything else, I am excited to dig in to Christmas dinner
The unofficial tradition of attempting to take group photos with our entire collective of dogs more or less looking in the same direction (and getting them to stop licking each other / sniffing each other / taking off each other’s reindeer antler hats). (Some years the dogs are better behaved than the humans.)
I really enjoy watching the Peanuts holiday specials (Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, mainly) and am always trying to convince someone to watch them with me!
One of my favorite Channukah traditions is sock night. (Which is now sock/underwear night.) Every year, my mother would go to the local major chain Black Friday sale, because socks were 50% off. And she would buy all the new socks for the year.
We didn’t get presents every night. But one night was always sock night, and that’s what we would get. And for some reason, I was really into it.
Two nights ago was sock/underwear night, and it was so nice to see my child getting excited about new socks.
Every year a group of friends from high school get together on Christmas Eve to watch Santa waterski on the Potomac River. Now, we don’t always make it out to the actual side of the river to watch it, but we do have a grand old time catching up over lunch and drinks.
Setting up our Christmas tree each year. I started a tradition with my kids that I had read about on some pregnancy board. I (and now the kids) pick an ornament that means something to them for that year. The collection of 18 will go with them when they leave my house for their own trees. I love going through them with the kids and reminiscing about why they chose each ornament.
