Books On Sale

Sea Witches, Snow Gods, & More

Amazon is having a huge Cyber Sunday sale on ebooks! Some of the deals below are included in that sale, but definitely look though all the books discounted.

  • Butterface

    Butterface by Avery Flynn

Butterface by Avery Flynn is 99c! I believe this is part of today’s deals. This contemporary romance is billed as a romantic comedy with some fake relationship elements. Be warned that the heroine is incredibly self-conscious about her looks, and there seems to be a lot of internal critical comments, if you’re sensitive to those things.

It’s true. I’m not what most people would call “pretty” and, well, high school was rough. Fast forward ten years and life is good…

Until a bunch of jerks think it’s hilarious to put the “butterface” (AKA me) on a wedding Kiss Cam with the hottest guy ever—and that old humiliation hits hard.

I recognize him immediately. The hottest cop in Waterbury and totally out of my league.

    But then he kisses me.

And we totally forget the room, the crowd, everything.

Then he tells everyone we’ve been dating for months.

Soon everything starts to feel too real, from adorable fights over “necessary” tools to fix my broken porch to surviving a free-for-all dinner with his six siblings to picking up where our last kiss left off.

But there’s something he’s not telling me about why he’s really hanging around, and I’m pretty sure it has to do with my mob-connected brothers.

Because this is not a make-over story, and Cinderella is only a fairy tale…

  • North of Need

North of Need by Laura Kaye

North of Need by Laura Kaye is 99c! This is a holiday paranormal romance with forced proximity and the heroine nursing the hero back to health. Sound like catnip to anyone? Many readers loved getting to know the heroine, but some found the book to be pretty underwhelming at times despite what it had going for it. It has a 3.9-star rating on Goodreads.

Her tears called a powerful snow god to life, but only her love can grant the humanity he craves…

Desperate to escape agonizing memories of Christmas past, twenty-nine-year-old widow Megan Snow builds a snow family outside the mountain cabin she once shared with her husband, realizing too late that she’s recreated the very thing she’ll never have.

Called to life by Megan’s tears, snow god Owen Winters appears unconscious on her doorstep in the midst of a raging blizzard. As she nurses him to health, Owen finds unexpected solace in her company and unimagined pleasure in the warmth of her body, and vows to win her heart for a chance at humanity.

Megan is drawn to Owen’s mismatched eyes, otherworldly masculinity, and enthusiasm for the littlest things. But this Christmas miracle comes with an expiration—before the snow melts and the temperature rises, Megan must let go of her widow’s grief and learn to trust love again, or she’ll lose Owen forever.

  • The Tiger’s Daughter

The Tiger’s Daughter by K. Arsenault Rivera

The Tiger’s Daughter by K. Arsenault Rivera is $2.99! This is also part of Amazon’s Cyber Sunday deals. This is the first book in an epic fantasy series that also features a lesbian romance, which sounds awesome. However, some reviews on Goodreads mentioned that the book could have done with a sensitivity reader. Check out this thorough review for more info on that.

    Even gods can be slain….

The Hokkaran empire has conquered every land within their bold reach―but failed to notice a lurking darkness festering within the people. Now, their border walls begin to crumble, and villages fall to demons swarming out of the forests.

Away on the silver steppes, the remaining tribes of nomadic Qorin retreat and protect their own, having bartered a treaty with the empire, exchanging inheritance through the dynasties. It is up to two young warriors, raised together across borders since their prophesied birth, to save the world from the encroaching demons.

This is the story of an infamous Qorin warrior, Barsalayaa Shefali, a spoiled divine warrior empress, O-Shizuka, and a power that can reach through time and space to save a land from a truly insidious evil.

  • Sea Witch

    Sea Witch by Sarah Henning

Sea Witch by Sarah Henning is $1.99! This is another deal for today and is a Little Mermaid retelling that focuses on Ursula’s origin story. I have a weakness for villain stories, so I’m really curious about this one. And, if you want more Ursula goodness, Part of Your World by Liz Braswell is also on sale. Have you read either of these?

Wicked meets The Little Mermaid in the captivating origin story of the sea’s most iconic villainess, perfect for fans of Heartless and Dorothy Must Die.

Ever since her best friend Anna died, Evie has been an outcast in her small fishing town. Hiding her talents, mourning her loss, drowning in her guilt.

Then a girl with an uncanny resemblance to Anna appears on the shore, and the two girls catch the eyes of two charming princes. Suddenly Evie feels like she might finally have a chance at her own happily ever after.

But magic isn’t kind, and her new friend harbors secrets of her own. She can’t stay in Havnestad—or on two legs—without Evie’s help. And when Evie reaches deep into the power of her magic to save her friend’s humanity—and her prince’s heart—she discovers, too late, what she’s bargained away.

  1. JoannaV says:

Yes Butterface is a Kindle Daily Deal, it sounded interesting until I read several reviews that said it mentions way too often how unattractive the heroine is which turned me off.

However there are also several classic Mary Stewart ebooks as part of the sale, including Airs Above the Ground and The Gabriel Hounds

  2. The Other Kate says:

Uh . . . Does North of Need feature a heroine who brings her snowman to life, and bangs him???

  3. Sofia says:

Amy Lane mystery series by Rosie Claverton. All five books in series, free in Amazon.

  4. Kareni says:

@Sofia, thanks for your comment. I’ve heard good things about the Amy Lane series.

  5. LineJM says:

@Sofia Thanks for that! I now have lots of mysteries to read.

  6. Amy K. says:

Regarding The Other Kate’s message: To be clear, North if Need is about a woman who builds a snowman and whose dead husband convinces a wind god to inhabit the snowman which then comes to life for her to bang. I assume that Frosty the Snowman and Olaf have similar erotic experiences in their backstories. Can’t beat a sexy snowman!

  7. @The Other Kate – I’ve read North of Need and… yeah. Pretty much. Not my fav, tbh… didn’t make it into full crazysauce territory, so it was neither great nor so bad it was good

  8. KB says:

I too have read North of Need and I clearly remember saying WHAT THE FUCK out loud when I got to the last 25%. It was…. I just…. I don’t even know. The writing wasn’t bad but I could not make my brain get past the snowman thing. But if sexy snowmen are your thing then go for it…and think of all the jokes you could make about getting snowed in (that’s what she said).
