One and Only
One and Only by Jenny Holiday is $1.99! This is the first book in the Bridesmaids Behaving Badly series. I found the book to be pretty cute and the heroine is an adorable nerd. However, the heroine is described as being a little unhappy with her weight and trying to lose some before her friend’s wedding. But in the book’s description, she seems like the average dress size for an American woman and the cover model is thinner than what I was expecting.
In this laugh-out-loud romantic comedy, USA Today bestselling author Jenny Holiday proves that when opposites attract, sparks fly.
Miss Responsibility meets Mr. RecklessWith her bridezilla friend on a DIY project rampage, bridesmaid Jane Denning will do anything to escape–even if it means babysitting the groom’s troublemaker brother before the wedding. It should be a piece of cake, except the “cake” is a sarcastic former soldier who is 100% wicked hotness and absolutely off-limits.
Cameron MacKinnon is ready to let loose after returning from his deployment. But first he’ll have to sweet talk the ultra-responsible Jane into taking a walk on the wild side. Turns out, riling her up is the best time he’s had in years. But what happens when the fun and games start to turn into something real?

A Scandalous Proposal
A Scandalous Proposal by Kasey Michaels is $1.99! This is a historical romance and the second book in The Little Season series. Readers recommend this one for a silly and light romance, while others mentioned they didn’t care for the hero and heroine’s frequent sexual fraternizing.
Who would have thought a man could tire of being fawned over and flirted with? Ever since Cooper Townsend returned from France as a hero with a new title, he has been relentlessly pursued by every marriageable miss in London. Perhaps that’s why the unconventional Miss Daniella Foster is so appealing. She doesn’t simper or flatter. She only wants him to help unmask her sister’s blackmailer, and Coop has never been so intrigued…
Let every other woman in London fight over His Lordship’s romantic attentions. Marriage is the last thing on Dany’s mind…at least until she samples his illicit kisses. Now, as a mutual enemy races to ruin Coop’s reputation and Dany’s family name, an engagement of convenience will spark an unlikely passion that might save them both

Rendezvous
Rendezvous by Amanda Quick is $1.99! This is a standalone historical romance that was originally published in the early 90s. Quick fans say that this isn’t their favorite of theirs. However, others loved the earnest heroine paired with the stuffy hero. Have you read this one?
From the elegently appointed drawing rooms of London’s most exclusive clubs to an imposing country estate in the heart of Dorset, comes a provocative tale of a free-thinking beauty, a dignified lord, and a mad impetuous love that defied all logic . . .
RENDEZVOUS
Augusta Ballinger was quite sure that it was all a dreadful mistake. The chillingly pompous and dangerous Earl of Graystone could not possibly wish to marry her. Why, it was rumored that his chosen bride must be a veritable model of virtue. And everyone knew that Augusta, as the last of the wild, reckless Northumberland Ballingers, was a woman who could not be bothered by society’s rules.
That was why the spirited beauty had planned a midnight encounter to warn the earl off, to convince him that she would make him a very poor wife indeed. But when she crawled in through his darkened study window, Augusta only succeeded in strengthening Harry’s resolve: to kiss the laughter from those honeyed lips and teach this maddening miss to behave! How could he possibly know that it was he who was in for a lesson . . . as his brazen fiancée set out to win his heart—and an old and clever enemy stepped in to threaten their love, their honor, and their very lives?

Goddess Born
Goddess Born by Karie Edgren is 99c! This is the first book in the Goddess Born series and seems to have an interesting premise. Some readers mentioned that the writing took a while to get used to, though others found the original plot really delivered in execution.
Pennsylvania, 1730
Selah Kilbrid keeps a dangerous secret: she has the power to heal.
A direct descendent of the Celtic goddess Brigid, it’s Selah’s sacred duty to help those in need. But as the last of the Goddess Born living in the New World, she learned from an early age to keep her supernatural abilities hidden. The Quaker community of Hopewell has always been welcoming, but there’s no doubt they would see her hanged if her gift was revealed.
When a prominent minister threatens to try her with witchcraft unless she becomes his wife, Selah has only one hope–that her betrothed, a distant cousin from Ireland, arrives as planned. Marrying Samuel would keep her secret safe, preserve her sacred bloodline, and protect her from being charged as a witch.
But when news of Samuel’s death reaches the Colonies, Selah is truly on her own. Terrified, she faces an impossible choice–forfeit her powers and marry the loathsome Nathan? Or find an imposter to pose as her husband and preserve her birthright?

Amazon also has a $5 off $20 physical book (i.e. not an ebook) purchase, good until Nov 25.
The really nice part of the Amazon deal (for me, at least) that Laurel mentioned is that it’s $20 total spent on physical book(s); it doesn’t have to be just one semi-expensive book.
So, I bought a children’s book for my daughter, a paperback on my husband’s wishlist, and the 2019 Anne Taintor wall calendar for myself (which for whatever reason Amazon counted as a “book”) to earn the $5 off.
Dreamspinner is having a 35% off pretty much everything sale this weekend. Between that and the Amazon deals my book budget is going to get blown to smithereens.
@JPeK Oh wow really?!?!? I’d have assumed it was just on a single semi-expensive book! Thank you! (Technically I don’t know whether I should thank you or curse you for this information, but I’m going with thanking you.)
@Anonymous, lol, right? I had no intention on spending $17 on books today (my original total was $22, then minus the $5 discount) but I noticed the promotion and was like, “Books! Must take advantage of deal on BOOKS!”
So, you’re welcome and I’m also sorry for spreading the same temptation that led me to spending more money than planned today! 😉
RE: Rendezvous: My first reaction when I saw this sale price was disappointment I hadn’t waited. (I picked up the ebook for the less-saley price of $4.99 a few months ago.) So I clearly don’t consider this a favorite, but the heroine’s themes are wonderful.
Augusta Ballinger is an orphan whose only brother died fairly recently, so she’s all about reconstructing a family and finding a new home. She’s from the “wild” branch of the Ballinger tree, and feels a bit out of place with her more proper uncle and cousin, though she loves them both. She’s railroaded into marriage with the widowed Earl of Graystone, whose outward guise as a stuffy intellectual hides his secret identity as a stuffy intellectual spy. They disagree about everything that matters to Augusta: the way she dresses, her dead brother’s honor, appropriate activities for his daughter, the ladies’ club she founded that mimics the exclusive gentlemen’s clubs.
All of these words excite me and I get deep feels for the heroine when Graystone blocks or undermines Augusta’s attempts to connect with him, his daughter, and his friends in a way that would make her feel like she really belongs to a family once again. And I think that’s the problem. He eventually relents (which is a big step for him), but I don’t think he does anything to give her a sense of belonging other than ceasing to oppose her efforts.
Still, worth it for $1.99.
