  • Ashwin

    Ashwin by Kit Rocha

Ashwin by Kit Rocha is 99c! This is the first book in their spin-off Gideon’s Riders series and it’s not necessary to have finished the Beyond series to jump into this one. My complaints for this romance were that there was a lot given to introducing the large cast of characters. I still enjoyed the central couple and the secondary characters made me excited for future books.

The first book in the follow-up to Kit Rocha’s bestselling BEYOND series…

    Gideon’s Riders, Book One

Lieutenant Ashwin Malhotra is a Makhai soldier–genetically engineered to be cold, ruthless. Unfeeling. His commanding officers consider him the perfect operative, and they’re right. Now, he has a simple mission: to infiltrate Gideon’s Riders, the infamous sect of holy warriors that protects the people of Sector One.

He’s never failed to execute an objective, but there’s one thing he didn’t anticipate–running into Dr. Kora Bellamy, the only woman to ever break through his icy exterior.

When Kora fled her life as a military doctor for the Makhai Project, all she wanted was peace–a quiet life where she could heal the sick and injured. The royal Rios family welcomed her like a sister, but she could never forget Ashwin. His sudden reappearance is a second chance–if she can manage to touch his heart.

When the simmering tension between them finally ignites, Kora doesn’t realize she’s playing with fire. Because she’s not just falling in love with a man who may not be able to love her back. Ashwin has too many secrets–and one of them could destroy her.

  • The Epic Crush of Genie Lo

The Epic Crush of Genie Lo by F.C. Yee

The Epic Crush of Genie Lo by F.C. Yee is $2.99! This is a YA novel with some science fiction elements. Redheadedgirl did a Lightning Review for it and the book earned a B+:

I recommend this for anyone looking for fun adventure stories that invert a lot of destiny-romance expectations.

The struggle to get into a top-tier college consumes sixteen-year-old Genie’s every waking thought. But when she discovers she’s a celestial spirit who’s powerful enough to bash through the gates of heaven with her fists, her perfectionist existence is shattered.

Enter Quentin, a transfer student from China whose tone-deaf assertiveness beguiles Genie to the brink of madness. Quentin nurtures Genie’s bodacious transformation—sometimes gently, sometimes aggressively—as her sleepy suburb in the Bay Area comes under siege from hell-spawn.

This epic YA debut draws from Chinese folklore, features a larger-than-life heroine, and perfectly balances the realities of Genie’s grounded high school life with the absurd supernatural world she finds herself commanding.

  • Wicked Ride

    Wicked Ride by Rebecca Zanetti

Wicked Ride by Rebecca Zanetti is $1.99! This is a paranormal romance with a cop heroine and an immortal Irish biker hero. I know we’ve debated about motorcycle clubs in the past and the book’s description makes mention that this particular MC is up to some pretty rough stuff, regardless of the hero’s involvement. However, many readers loved the chemistry between the very much alpha hero and the heroine. Sound interesting to anyone?

Alexandra Monzelle is a hard-fighting, heat-packing Seattle vice cop, and she’s not much interested in being protected. Her short skirt and sex-kitten heels are tools to lure her suspects into talking about the deadly new drug hitting the streets. She can take care of herself and then some. Unfortunately, she can’t seem to get that through to Kellach Dunne.

Kellach is a fresh import from Dublin, and he’s landed at the heart of a vicious motorcycle club that deals in guns, narcotics, and mayhem. He’s all male, all rough power—and all interference in her damn investigation. Maybe he’s one of the good guys. Maybe not. Lex knows an affair with an immortal like him would risk everything. No matter how delicious he looks…

  • Dance With Me

Dance With Me by Heidi Cullinan

Dance With Me by Heidi Cullinan is $1.99! This is a gay contemporary romance between a former football player and a dance instructor. This book was also recommended in the comments in our post on marriage equality. Readers love the opposites attract feel of the romance, though some felt it was a little too serious and somber for them. It has a 3.9-star rating on GoodReads.

    Sometimes life requires a partner.

Ed Maurer has bounced back, more or less, from the neck injury that permanently benched his semipro football career. He hates his soul-killing office job, but he loves volunteering at a local community center. The only fly in his ointment is the dance instructor, Laurie Parker, who can’t seem to stay out of his way.

Laurie was once one of the most celebrated ballet dancers in the world, but now he volunteers at Halcyon Center to avoid his society mother’s machinations. It would be a perfect escape, except for the oaf of a football player cutting him glares from across the room.

When Laurie has a ballroom dancing emergency and Ed stands in as his partner, their perceptions of each other turn upside down. Dancing leads to friendship, being friends leads to becoming lovers, but most important of all, their partnership shows them how to heal the pain of their pasts. Because with every turn across the floor, Ed and Laurie realize the only escape from their personal demons is to keep dancing—together.

A bunch of Cullinans are on sale for $1.99, the first book in every series so far as I can tell.

  2. Egged says:

I really enjoyed the genie lo book! It wasn’t the perfect book but it was lots of fun and I really enjoyed reading about an Asian American heroine. The relationships with her immigrant parents felt real and I liked the friendship with her girl friend as well.

  3. Lucy says:

Dublin woman here feeling quite baffled by the name ‘Kellach’… Had to Google it and it turns out it actually IS a name, but it just feels like it should be followed by ‘Cornflakes, now with added vitamins’.

  4. Cristie says:

TJ Klune’s Wish Upon the Stars is on sale for $2.99. I’ve read three of Klune’s books in the last few weeks and loved every single one.

  5. harthad says:

What a gorgeous cover on that Cullinan book!

  6. BellaInAus says:

    @Lucy.
There have been a few DNFs in my reading life because of redonkulous names. The most recent was a hero named Arson. Quite apart from the fact that Australia is highly flammable and arson is a crime widely regarded as justifying a lunch mob, I can’t help hearing that joke from The Curse Of The WereRabbit. The one about arson around.

  7. BellaInAus says:

    Dang auto-correct.

That should be a lynch mob.

  8. I absolutely loved Ashwin!

  9. SusanK says:

The Scent of Murder by Felicity Young is free on Amazon (US) right now. It’s the 3rd book in the Dr. Dody McCleland series. I haven’t read this one yet, but have it in my TBR pile.

  10. Dreamingintrees says:

Can you read Ashwin without having read the original series?

  11. @Amanda says:

@Dreamingintrees: Yep! I haven’t finished the first series and I did just fine.

  12. Lucy says:

@BellaInAus I rather like the idea of a lunch mob…

  13. Dreamingintrees says:

@Amanda Thank you! I bought it and am looking forward to it
