Books On Sale

Highlights from the Week, Plus Beverly Jenkins

Notes: I’m at a wedding this weekend and I scheduled this Books on Sale ahead of time, so apologies if any of these book sales are no longer valid.

Also, we’ll be changing up the Sunday sales a little bit. If we feature a book during the previous week that gets a lot of reader recs or we run a review and the book gets discounted, we’ll list it here. We don’t want you to miss out on anything good!

  • Cast in Shadow

Cast in Shadow by Michelle Sagara

Cast in Shadow by Michelle Sagara is $1.99! We featured this book earlier in the week and there were so many comments on the post about this book. Plus, a reader tweeted at us about this one:

Fantastic prickly heroine who grows and changes over time, really intriguing worldbuilding…

Seven years ago Kaylin fled the crime-riddled streets of Nightshade, knowing that something was after her. Children were being murdered—and all had the same odd markings that mysteriously appeared on her own skin.…

Since then, she’s learned to read, she’s learned to fight and she’s become one of the vaunted Hawks who patrol and police the City of Elantra. Alongside the winged Aerians and the immortal Barrani, she’s made a place for herself, far from the mean streets of her birth.

But children are once again dying, and a dark and familiar pattern is emerging. Kaylin is ordered back into Nightshade with a partner she knows she can’t trust, a Dragon lord for a companion and a device to contain her powers—powers that no other human has. Her task is simple—find the killer, stop the murders…and survive the attentions of those who claim to be her allies!

  • Destiny’s Surrender

    Destiny’s Surrender by Beverly Jenkins

RECOMMENDED: Destiny’s Surrender by Beverly Jenkins is $1.99! This is the second book in her Destiny series and follows Andrew, Logan’s brother. He has a particularly unique relationship with a courtesan named Billie, who shows up on his doorstep with a child she says is his – and with the intention of leaving her son there so he can have a better life and escape the danger that’s closely following Billie. This book has an impressive 4.2-star rating on GR.

The child he didn’t know he had . . .

Andrew Yates has come to a decision: it’s time to stop sowing those oats and start a family. But searching for a bride isn’t as simple as he’d hoped, and many of the respectable women of his acquaintance feel . . . lacking. Then beautiful, feisty Wilhelmina “Billie” Wells arrives at the family ranch with a toddler in her arms, claiming Drew is the father!

The woman he didn’t know he loved . . .

Billie had no choice but to show up at Destiny in search of Drew. For the sake of their child, she’s willing to leave him with his father so the boy can have a better life, but then, before she can blink, she’s saying “I do” in front of a preacher in a marriage of convenience. All Billie and Drew have in common is the heat that brought them together, but can their sizzling passion lead to an everlasting love?

  • The Richmond Thief

The Richmond Thief by Lisa Boero

The Richmond Thief by Lisa Boero is 99c! We had a great guest review for this one this week and it earned a B+:

I was bumbling along in a reading rut, neither excited nor bored, just, well… fine. Then, Lady Trent came along and blew me right out of my rut and into reading heaven. I love her! I want to be her! I want to be her friend! And yes, when talking about her ONLY exclamation marks will do!

Someone is snatching priceless jewels right off the necks of British aristocrats. With his intimate access to the parlors and bedrooms of Regency London, the Richmond Thief strikes again and again. The Bow Street Runners, the city’s only detectives, seem powerless to stop him.

    Enter Althea, lady scientist.

As the young widow of a country gentleman, Lady Althea Trent is introduced to the upper-class social scene as yet another pretty face. But her own scientific inquiries and an invitation to act as an agent of Bow Street with the enigmatic Duke of Norwich propel her into the hunt for the Richmond Thief. The theft of her host’s diamonds and two potential murders only harden Althea’s resolve to find answers to the thief’s identity.

Unfortunately, Althea’s dangerous entanglements with the law and the mysterious duke inexorably lead her to a darkened library—where the masked Richmond Thief awaits.

  • Catalyst

    Catalyst by Rachel Grant

Catalyst by Rachel Grant is 99c! This is a romantic suspense novel and the second book in the Flashpoint series. I’m pretty curious about this series given the interesting settings. Readers say this has a great balance between romance and thrilling elements. However, some didn’t feel the chemistry between the hero and heroine.

When a food storage depot in famine-struck South Sudan is torched, American aid worker Brie Stewart flees, only to land in a market where she’s the next item up for auction. Is the attack on the aid facility another assault upon the war-torn fledgling democracy, or has her family set her up as a pawn in their quest for oil rights?

Chief Warrant Officer Sebastian Ford crossed paths with Brie years ago when she was a shill for her family’s company, pushing a pipeline that threatened his tribe’s land. Determined to lead the rescue operation to save her, he won’t let her abduction—or the attraction that flares between them—get in the way of settling their unfinished business.

The Green Beret’s skills are put to the test in the flooded grasslands of South Sudan, where they must battle nature and dangerous factions who are after more than oil. Bastian and Brie put their hearts on the line as they find themselves embroiled in a conflict that extends beyond country and continent. Together they must douse the spark before it reaches the flashpoint and engulfs everything they hold dear.

  1. Chant de la Mer says:

The first three Cast In books are on sale, the next two are 2.99. The next two after that are 4.99 as well and a decent deal if you are collecting the series (I am because I have paper copies but wanted them on my kindle as well).

  2. Anonymous says:

Billie in Destiny’s Surrender is absolutely amazing, and I loved her so much. If I were to make a Top Ten Favourite Heroines list, she’d definitely be on it.
