A Notorious Vow

A Notorious Vow by Joanna Shupe is available for preorder for $2.99! This book releases September 25th, so soonish. Redheadedgirl already read it and mentioned this one in the most recent Whatcha Reading. Spoiler: she loved it.
Joanna Shupe returns to New York City’s Gilded Age, where fortunes and reputations are gained and lost with ease—and love can blossom from the most unlikely charade
With the fate of her disgraced family resting on her shoulders, Lady Christina Barclay has arrived in New York City from London to quickly secure a wealthy husband. But when her parents settle on an intolerable suitor, Christina turns to her reclusive neighbor, a darkly handsome and utterly compelling inventor, for help.
Oliver Hawkes reluctantly agrees to a platonic marriage . . . with his own condition: The marriage must end after one year. Not only does Oliver face challenges that are certain to make life as his wife difficult, but more importantly, he refuses to be distracted from his life’s work—the development of a revolutionary device that could transform thousands of lives, including his own.
Much to his surprise, his bride is more beguiling than he imagined. When temptation burns hot between them, they realize they must overcome their own secrets and doubts, and every effort to undermine their marriage, because one year can never be enough.

On My Knees by Meredith Wild is $2.99! This is a contemporary, second chance romance and the first in a series. Readers definitely mention that the book is an emotional rollercoaster, an aspect they loved. But others found the heroine a bit frustrating. It has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads.
Haunted by the responsibility of caring for her troubled family, Maya Jacobs gave the only answer she could when Cameron asked her to marry him. Years later, entrenched in a soulless professional routine, she distracts herself from the lingering regret of her decision with a “work hard, play hard” lifestyle that guarantees no man will ever find his way into her heart again.
Cameron Bridge has spent the past five years married to the military, trying to escape the painful memory of losing Maya. After fighting his own war in the desert, he starts a new life in New York City, with his siblings, Olivia and Darren, by his side.
When fate brings Maya back to him in the heart of a city filled with its own hopes and shadows, can Cameron find the girl he once loved in the woman she’s become?

The Duke’s Disaster by Grace Burrowes is $2.99! Readers loved the marriage of convenience element of the plot, though some didn’t like the main characters: the hero was a jerk and the heroine needed a backbone. According to Goodreads and Amazon info, this is the prequel to the True Gentleman series, but is a full-length romance.
Noah Winters, Duke of Anselm, exercises the pragmatism for which he’s infamous when his preferred choice of bride cries off, and her companion, Lady Thea Collins, becomes his next choice for his duchess. Lady Thea’s mature, sensible and even rather attractive-what could possibly go wrong?
As a lady fallen on hard times, Thea doesn’t expect tender sentiments from His Grace, but she does wish Noah had courted her trust, lest her past turn their hastily arranged marriage into a life of shared regrets. Is His Grace courting a convenient wife, or a beautiful disaster?

I Married the Duke by Katharine Ashe is $2.74, which is a weird price, but okay! This is book one in The Prince Catchers series. The book description mentions a g*psy, so there’s that. However, others loved the characterization and dialogue. Have you read this one?
Arabella Caulfield, one of three orphaned sisters, has clung to an ancient gypsy prophecy as the only way to save her family from endless heartbreak. Now she has twelve days to reach a remote French castle and fulfill her destiny: to marry a prince.
Along the way, Arabella meets Lucien Westfall, decorated naval captain and the new Duke of Lycombe. She thought he was a pirate. He thought she was a governess. Two wrongs have never made such a scandalously perfect right.

Ancient gypsy prophesy. Bleugh.
I like the Prince Catcher series. Sisters in romance can* be very catnippy for me. Also, I love almost everything Katharine Ashe writes. <3
