  • The Scot Beds His Wife

The Scot Beds His Wife by Kerrigan Byrne

The Scot Beds His Wife by Kerrigan Byrne is $1.99! This is the fifth book in the Victorian Rebels series and Elyse was really excited for this one in a previous Hide Your Wallet. Some readers warn that the writing is over the top, while others recommend Byrne if you need a crazysauce fix.

The Scot Beds His Wife is the next lush, captivating Victorian romance in the Victorian Rebels series by Kerrigan Byrne.

They’re rebels, scoundrels, and blackguards—dark, dashing men on the wrong side of the law. But for the women who love them, a hint of danger only makes the heart beat faster.

Gavin St. James, Earl of Thorne, is a notorious Highlander and an unrelenting Lothario who uses his slightly menacing charm to get what he wants—including too many women married to other men. But now, Gavin wants to put his shady past behind him…more or less. When a fiery lass who is the heiress to the land he wishes to possess drops into his lap, he sees a perfectly delicious opportunity…

    A marriage most convenient

Samantha Masters has come back to Scotland, in a pair of trousers, and with a whole world of dangerous secrets from her time spent in the Wild West trailing behind her. Her only hope of protection is to marry—and to do so quickly. Gavin is only too willing to provide that service for someone he finds so disturbingly irresistible. But even as danger approaches, what begins as a scandalous proposition slowly turns into an all-consuming passion. And Gavin discovers that he will do whatever is necessary to keep the woman he has claimed as his own…

  • At the Stroke of Midnight

At the Stroke of Midnight by Tara Sivec

At the Stroke of Midnight by Tara Sivec is $1.99! This is book one in the Naughty Princess Club series, which takes fairy tales and turns them into contemporary romances. I personally love the covers in this series. Readers say they loved the female friendships in this one and subsequent books. However, a few found it either too crude or over the top. It has a 4.2-star rating on Goodreads.

Meet the Naughty Princess Club: a brand new series from USA Today bestselling author Tara Sivec that introduces readers to Fairytale Lane and the hilarity—and romance—that ensue when three women start a new business to make it rain.

Once upon a time Cynthia was the perfect housewife. Between being the President of the PTA and keeping her home spotless without a hair (or her pearls) out of place, her life was a dream come true. Her husband was once her knight in shining armor, but now he’s run off with all their money…and the babysitter.

Dressed as a princess at the annual Halloween block party on Fairytale Lane, she meets two other “princesses” also facing money troubles: antique store owner Ariel and librarian Isabelle. When the women are invited to wear their costumes to a party where they’re mistaken for strippers, Cindy, Ariel, and Belle realize that a career change could be the best way to make their money problems go bippity-boppity-boo.

But can structured Cindy approach a stripper pole without sanitizing wipes? And could the blue-eyed anti-prince that has been crossing her path become Cindy’s happily ever after? At the Stroke of Midnight is a hilarious, empowering story where princesses can save themselves while slaying in stilettos.

  • Never Been Good

Never Been Good by Christi Barth

Never Been Good by Christi Barth is 99c! This contemporary romance has a bartender hero in the Witness Protection Program and a heroine on the run. Some readers found the book struggled to hold their attention, but others like the blend of sweet and sexy. This book is part of the Bad Boys Gone Good series.

USA Today bestseller Christi Barth returns with another steamy Bad Boys Gone Good novel!

Flynn Maguire isn’t really a bad guy. Sure, he worked for the mob, but he ran a legitimate business—on paper anyway—and it paid enough to keep his brother out of the lifestyle. Until they turned on him. Now he’s stuck in Witness Protection, tending bar in Nowheresville Oregon… and pissed the life he knew is gone. The only bright spot? Fantasizing about his quiet, secretive, beautiful coworker.

Sierra Williams is a woman on the run. All she wants now is to settle into small town life… and ignore the brooding, sexy bartender who can’t seem to take his eyes off her. Flynn’s bad-boy vibe pushes all her buttons, but Sierra fell for the wrong man once already. She can’t afford to let her guard down again. Except Flynn’s tough exterior is slowly melting away to reveal the sweet man beneath and their attraction is too strong to resist.

Sierra and Flynn are falling fast, but they’re both keeping so many secrets. The truth could ruin everything… unless a girl who’s a little bad is perfect for a guy who’s never really been good.

  • Accidentally Compromising the Duke

Accidentally Compromising the Duke by Stacy Reid

Accidentally Compromising the Duke by Stacy Reid is 99c! This book is first in the Wedded by Scandal series. Readers loved the hero and heroine, while others felt there wasn’t enough plot and intrigue, and that it had too much sex. It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads.

    England, 1817.

Miss Adeline Hays is out of options. Determined to escape marriage to a repugnant earl, Adeline plans to deliberately allow herself to be caught in a compromising position at a house party with the much kinder man she’d hoped to marry. Instead, Adeline accidentally enters the wrong chamber and tumbles into the bed of the mad duke.

Edmond Rochester, the duke of Wolverton, is seeking a wife to care for his two daughters. A young lady of sensibilities, accomplishment, and most importantly, one who he is not attracted to—a complete opposite of the bewitching beauty who traps him into marriage. But despite the lust he feels for his new duchess, Edmond is resolved to never allow them intimacy, refusing to ever again suffer the tormenting loss of a loved one.

  1. Caitlin says:

Kerrigan Byrne is simultaneously terrible and a wonderful crazysauce fix. Which is like the best description ever of her plots. (Her writing is often pretty good.)

  2. Deianira says:

Damn you, books on sale! Just as I could see the end of my to-be-read list, you have to dangle these titles in front of me!

  3. Ren Benton says:

@Deianira: Think of it as saving you from the impending tragedy of reaching for your next book and finding only emptiness. (insert screaming woman gif from black-and-white horror movie here)

  4. I wonder if the people who leave low rated reviews based on “too much sex” know that they have literally probably just sold 5 copies of the book that they’re criticizing?

  5. JoanneBB says:

I just picked up the Byrne book on the amazon.ca site – the specificity of their categories cracks me up (I’m easily amused). It’s currently #1 in Scottish Historical Romance.

  6. Vicki says:

I will sometimes say a book has too much sex for me. I expect that there are people out there who will be happy to see that. And people like me who like a little plot with their sex will be happy for the head’s up. I don’t usually ding stars for “too much sex, ” more for problems with the writing or the plot.

  7. KellyM says:

I will never see the end of my TBR. It will outlive me. Thankfully, most of it is ebooks or else I would be on a special episode of Hoarder or the news- “Woman suffocated when her TBR pile collapsed on her”

  8. Kathy says:

I’m another who wants a story with her sex. It isn’t that I don’t like the sex scenes, but for me the difference between porn and romance is just that–in an enjoyable book, I have a reason to be attracted to the hero and heroine and to know why they fancy each other. Without that plot, I’m not invested and no matter how hot the sex, I am quickly bored. As well, that’s what makes horse races. It also means I have to try to figure out if the reviewer is like me or just someone who hates all graphic sex scenes. Not always easy.

  9. Karin says:

I’ve read a couple of Stacy Reid’s books and there are a lot of sex scenes, but she writes them well. Will not win any prizes for historical authenticity but fast moving fun. Would buy again, especially on sale.

  10. Kareni says:

KellyM, you’re in good company; my Mount e-TBR is in the thousands.

  11. LauraL says:

Did somebody say house party with naughty times? Just one-clicked Accidentally Compromising the Duke.

  12. Emily says:

I was going to buy the Stacy Reid. But apparently I already own it! Which is indicative of how out of control my TBR pile has gotten…

  13. MaryK says:

I’m turned off Accidentally Compromising the Duke by the heroine deliberately trying to compromise the man she’d hoped to marry. If he’s in on the plot, fine. Otherwise, forget it.

  14. Karin says:

Oh, but to be fair, @MaryK, that man had already proposed to her, I think more than once, but her parents refused to allow them to marry. So really the compromising was to force the parents’ hands, not the suitor.

  15. MaryK says:

@Karin – I might give it a try in that case.
