  • My Best Friend’s Exorcism

My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix

RECOMMENDEDMy Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix is $1.99! This is a great book for Halloween. Carrie recently reviewed this and gave it a B+:

This particular horror story is a love letter to the 1980s and to the power of friendship between women. The ending is very awesome. But also very gross, so be prepared.

Abby and Gretchen have been best friends since fifth grade, when they bonded over a shared love of E.T., roller-skating parties, and scratch-and-sniff stickers. But when they arrive at high school, things change. Gretchen begins to act . . . different. And as the strange coincidences and bizarre behavior start to pile up, Abby realizes there’s only one possible explanation: Gretchen, her favorite person in the world, has a demon living inside her. And Abby is not about to let anyone or anything come between her and her best friend. With help from some unlikely allies, Abby embarks on a quest to save Gretchen. But is their friendship powerful enough to beat the devil?

  • Hard Knocks

    Hard Knocks by Ruby Lang

Hard Knocks by Ruby Lang is 99c! This contemporary romance has a neurologist heroine and a hockey playing hero. Readers really loved the characterization of the hero and heroine, but some found the heroine a bit cold at times. It has a 3.8-star rating on Goodreads. And if you just want to cut out the middle man, you can grab all three books in that series for $2.99!

Neurologist Helen Chang Frobisher is on a mission to ban hockey from Portland to prevent the kind of concussive brain injury that plagues her father. Oregon Wolves player Adam Magnus is desperately trying to secure his career and his retirement despite the team’s dismal record.

But while the two spar in public over the future of a sports franchise on the brink, in private, they battle an impossible attraction. When their no-strings-attached fling turns into the real thing, Helen and Adam must decide what’s really important to them. Will their relationship end up in the penalty box, or are they a winning combination?

  • A Woman Made for Sin

A Woman Made for Sin by Michele Sinclair

A Woman Made for Sin by Michele Sinclair is 99c! This is the second book in the Promises Trilogy but I believe it can be read as a standalone. If class differences are your catnip, this one might be for you. But some readers mention that this book is a little bonkers and all over the place.

Three best friends are the most eligible ladies in London. But Lady Aimee Wentworth only has eyes for the handsome sailor who captured her heart long ago…

    Everything She Lost…

Lady Aimee Wentworth has grown tired of Reece Hamilton avoiding her. Unable to shake her childhood vow to marry the dashing sailor, she devises a plan that she’s certain will land her in his arms. But before she can act, she’s captured by Reece’s crew, and an ill-timed case of mistaken identity all but shatters her hopes of winning back his affections…

    …Was Worth Everything She Gained

Born the untitled second son of a lord, Reece has resigned himself to the life of a sailor. Unable to provide the luxuries befitting a Lady, he insisted that Aimee seek the hand of a nobleman. But when he discovers her on board his ship, he knows there is only one direction in which to set his sails – toward a destiny more adventurous – and more passionate – than either could have ever imagined…

  • Lords of the Underworld: Volume 1

Lords of the Underworld: Volume 1 by Gena Showalter

Lords of the Underworld: Volume 1 by Gena Showalter is $2.99! This set collects books 1-3 in the Lords of the Underworld series and the prequel novella. I’ve read the first couple books in this series and can confirm that these heroes are over the top alpha.

See how the Lords of the Underworld saga began with the first four sizzling stories by New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter.

They dared to open Pandora’s Box, and now must carry an eternal curse. The saga begins in a remote fortress in Budapest, where six immortal warriors, each more dangerously seductive than the last, are bound by an ancient curse none has been able to break. Journey through this dark and sensual world, where the line between good and evil blurs and true love is put to the ultimate test.

Collection includes: The Darkest Fire, The Darkest Night, The Darkest Kiss and The Darkest Pleasure. BONUS: The Darkest Facts and an excerpt from the latest Lords of the Underworld book, The Darkest Promise!

  1. cbackson says:

Wait, there is a book called “The Darkest Facts”?

Like, are these facts about physical darkness or metaphorical darkness? Are we talking eclipses or the alt-right here?

  2. Maile says:

Ruby Lang’s Practice Perfect series is fantastic – grab all three books if you haven’t already!

  3. Teev says:

@cbackson: “The demon inside Mendacity will not let him speak a truth. Themia is an angel of Justice who has extreme allergic reactions to lies. Will they manage to communicate their attraction with the language of Dark Facts?”

  4. Peggy says:

    At amazon today:

A Scot’s Surrender by Lily Maxton (m/m historical) is $.99

And for readers of WWI history & Barbara Tuchman fans – The Guns of August is $1.99. Thought I’d throw that out there since I know this crew is pretty widely read. 🙂

  5. TAM says:

Seconding Maile on Ruby Lang! Those books are great.

  6. DonnaMarie says:

I can not NOT recommend those Showalter books enough. The first two were intriguing enough, but after that… I’m pretty sure there’s at least one Rita Review that explains the MANY issues. Of course, to each his own, and YMMV.

  7. Susan says:

The sale on the Lang book(s) was short-lived; they’re all showing up at $4.99 each now. (That’s probably good news for me since I don’t really need any new books at this point.)

  8. flchen1 says:

I think the Lang box set is still $2.99 for the three titles…

  9. I love Ruby Lang! Hard Knocks is no longer on sale but I scooped up Practice Perfect.

  10. kitkat9000 says:

    2 things:

First, DonnaMarie is right about the Showalter books. Used to read her years ago but gave up when I realized it was the same plot used over and over again. Dropped C. Feehan then, too.

Secondly, what is it with all the historicals where the dress is falling off- and shows bare skin. Because if my early and continuing introduction to art & history has taught me anything, it’s that those poor women wore LAYERS of clothes. Hence the need for all those ladies’ maids.

  11. Cat C says:

Crimson Romance has anthologies with each ofthe Ruby Lang books for 99c (I recently went on an embarrassingly dorky shopping spree that involved spreadsheets to track duplicated books in the various anthologies. RIP Crimson may your 99c book sets live on forever so I can discover all your awesome authors). Passionate Hearts: 5 Activist Romances has Hard Knocks. Sweet and Sexy: 8 Beta to the Max Heroes has Acute Reactions. Anyone But You: 6 Best Friend’s Sibling Romances has Clean Breaks.

  12. Susan says:

Well, this is sad. After I saw @fichen1’s comment about the box set, I went and checked it out–to discover I’d already bought it in February. Oy.
