Storm
Storm by Brigid Kemmerer is $1.99 at Amazon! If you’re playing Ripped Bodice Bingo, this would work for the YA paranormal square. Readers liked the heroine, but after reading some reviews, I think there is some internalized misogyny. It has a 3.9-star rating on Goodreads.
Becca Chandler is suddenly getting all the guys– the ones she doesn’t want. Ever since her ex-boyfriend spread those lies about her.
Then she saves Chris Merrick from a beating in the school parking lot. Chris is different. Way different: he can control water–just like his brothers can control fire, wind, and earth. They’re powerful. Dangerous. Marked for death.
And now that she knows the truth, so is Becca.
Secrets are hard to keep when your life’s at stake. When Hunter, the mysterious new kid around school, turns up with a talent for being in the wrong place at the right time, Becca thinks she can trust him. But then Hunter goes head-to-head with Chris, and Becca wonders who’s hiding the most dangerous truth of all.
The storm is coming. . .

The Duke Who Ravished Me
The Duke Who Ravished Me by Diana Quincy is $1.99! This book came out this April, so it’s relatively new. It features a governess heroine and a hero trying to care for twins. Some readers weren’t onboard for how much a playboy the hero was, while others recommend it for fans of character-driven romances.
An impulsive kiss between a libertine duke and a mysterious governess sparks a blaze of desire—and intrigue—in this breathtaking Regency romance from the award-winning author of Spy Fall.
Adam Fairfax, the Duke of Sunderford, happily enjoys a different woman (or two) every night—or he did, until his wards landed on his doorstep. Ever since Sunny took in the seven-year-old twin girls and their prim and proper governess, Isabel Finch, his love life has been a shambles. But, as time goes by, Sunny catches himself getting lost in Isabel’s haughty blue eyes, or following the curves beneath her unbecoming dress. An unexpected kiss ignites a passion that shocks him into realizing how thin the line between love and hate can be.
If Isabel’s hidden past were revealed, she could lose everything. Oddly enough, only when “Sinful Sunny” is near does she feel safe—or safe enough to speak up in defense of the girls. The duke’s decadent lifestyle is a disgrace, and clearly he considers Isabel a nuisance. Still, she can’t help admiring his sculpted cheekbones, strong-cut jaw, and tousled chestnut hair. When their lips meet, it’s almost as if he could kiss the secrets right out of her. Worse, she’s tempted to let him. . . .

Jacked Up
Jacked Up by Samantha Kane is $1.99! This is a contemporary erotic sports romance with a menage situation going on. What I’m trying to say is expect lots of explicit sex. I also believe one of the heroes is bisexual. Some readers recommend this for a fun hot read, but some wished it addressed the book’s issues with more gravity (PTSD, bisexuality, etc).
The secret about the Birmingham Rebels is out: With a girl in the middle, two mouth-watering football studs are better than one.
Linebacker Sam Taylor feels like a ticking time bomb. He left the army with emotional wounds as fresh as the scars on his back. Sam’s been living like a monk, but his best friend, defensive lineman King Ulupoka, wants to get him laid. Easy for him to say. The larger-than-life Samoan is a hard-bodied, tribal-tattooed fantasy. Sam agrees, under one condition: King stays to watch.
ER nurse Jane Foster is done being a good girl, and nothing says wild like picking up two of football’s sexiest players and bringing them back to your hotel room. Trouble is, she can’t decide which one she wants more. Sam is hot, sweet, and vulnerable. Jane’s more than willing to ride him into oblivion. But King’s intense gaze from across the room promises that the best is yet to come.
Sure, King has had his choice of girls and guys in the past. That doesn’t mean he’ll jeopardize his relationship with Sam over a case of locker-room lust—until a naughty nurse pushes them both out of their comfort zones. Seeing Jane and Sam together turns King on more than he ever imagined. If they’re game, he’s ready to tackle a three-way play.

Virgin River Collection: Volume 1
Virgin River Collection: Volume 1 by Robyn Carr is $2.99! This boxed set collects books one through four in the Virgin River series. Four books for less than $3 isn’t a bad deal! I would say the Virgin River books are sweeter, quieter romances set in a small town. Have you read any of them?
Welcome back to Virgin River! Available for the first time in a box set, the first four stories in the acclaimed series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Robyn Carr. Discover a remote mountain town that might be the perfect place to start fresh.
Virgin River
Nurse practitioner Melinda Monroe comes to town to escape her heartache, though nothing is what she expected. A tiny baby abandoned on a porch changes all her plans, and former marine Jack Sheridan cements them into place.
Shelter Mountain
Paige Lassiter’s sudden, desperate arrival stirs up protective instincts in John “Preacher” Middleton. She and her little boy clearly need help, and if there’s one thing Preacher has learned, it’s that some things are worth fighting for.
Whispering Rock
When wounded former LAPD officer Mike Valenzuela agrees to become the town’s first cop, he knows it’s time he settled down. He’s longing for commitment, and hopes he can help the tough Brie Sheridan to lose her fears and trust again.
A Virgin River Christmas
Marcie Sullivan has finally found Ian Buchanan, a man she owes a special debt to. Maybe in this season of wonder, Ian can look into his painful past and open his heart to the uncertain future.

Sixth Grave on the Edge by Darynda Jones is $2.99 if you’re building your Charley Davidson series.
Chasing Down a Dream by Beverly Jenkins is $1.99. Sounds like a town saga rather than romance and it’s eighth in the series, so I don’t know how well it works as a starter.
I love reading the books on sale so much! I have found some real gems here! Thanks and keep it up!
@Ren Benton I adore the Beverley Jenkins series that this book is part of. Jenkins is about to release #9, which probably explains the sale. Although there is romance in each book, the romance sits side by side with the story of life in this Kansas town that was founded by Black free men and women. It is as much a soap opera as anything, although not to angsty either. Feel good fiction with a bit of romance and history thrown in. I’d say if you don’t start at the beginning you won’t know who anyone is.
I enjoyed Storm. It’s the first in a series of 5 – it’s pretty stand-alone. I kinda remember some slut-shaming but iirc I thought it was well handled, but I did read it awhile ago.
The series is about 4 (hot) brothers who each have a special trait – a connection to a different element – their parents were killed earlier, in what may or may not have been an accident. There are various antagonists who want to kill them because their powers are too strong.
I remember really enjoying book 1 because it’s so local – the drama is about typical HS stuff, plus someone’s trying to kill the protags – they’re not trying to save the world, they’re just trying to make it through HS alive. The series has some issues – there’s a miracle cure in book 2 that bothered me and 2 POV main characters were killed off – one in book 3 and the other in book 5. Book 5 is titled Sacrifice, so that wasn’t such a shock – I would have been furious about book 3 fridging one of the MCs if I hadn’t accidentally spoiled myself before reading it. Still find it annoying. There’s a pretty high body count and the over arching plot doesn’t totally make sense, but the characters are compelling and I had fun reading the whole thing. It’s mostly m/f, but book 4 is m/m.
@Kathy- the first book in the Blessings series by Beverly Jenkins is also on sale, and your review sold it for me. Just the title, Bring on the Blessings, sounds like something I need in my life right now.
@ Cleo – I was furious about #3. I thought they were young adult romances, so killing of a romantic lead didn’t work for me. But I guess it depends on your expectations. They weren’t marketed as romances, but I still viewed them like that.
Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant (AKA the killer mermaid book) is a Kindle daily deal Saturday for $2.99 (price matched at least at Kobo and Barnes). Amanda and Elyse joint reviewed it here:

Just read The Duke Who Ravished Me and HOLY SHIT WOW was it terrible. TERRRRRRRRIBLE. Not (for me at least) because the dude is a playboy (although I could have seriously done without the incessant “any sexuality between women is strictly for men”), but because he is sexist, classist, and mean to the heroine, and never gets his comeuppance. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
I have to say that I loved the Virgin River series when I found it, so much that I was willing to overlook some of the medical stuff. I would totally recommend it. Though, somewhere around book 7, I burnt out. May need to go back and try some more.
