Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows

RECOMMENDED: Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows by Balli Kaur Jaswal is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and I highly recommend you checking out the others, which include books by Harper Lee, Karen Abbot, and more. RHG read this one and gave it a B+:
Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows is not a romance first and foremost, though there is a romance plot among the many others. It is, however, a story about women’s self understanding, and turning against the definition and enforcement of their sexuality to discover it for themselves.
A lively, sexy, and thought-provoking East-meets-West story about community, friendship, and women’s lives at all ages—a spicy and alluring mix of Together Tea and Calendar Girls.
Every woman has a secret life . . .
Nikki lives in cosmopolitan West London, where she tends bar at the local pub. The daughter of Indian immigrants, she’s spent most of her twenty-odd years distancing herself from the traditional Sikh community of her childhood, preferring a more independent (that is, Western) life. When her father’s death leaves the family financially strapped, Nikki, a law school dropout, impulsively takes a job teaching a “creative writing” course at the community center in the beating heart of London’s close-knit Punjabi community.
Because of a miscommunication, the proper Sikh widows who show up are expecting to learn basic English literacy, not the art of short-story writing. When one of the widows finds a book of sexy stories in English and shares it with the class, Nikki realizes that beneath their white dupattas, her students have a wealth of fantasies and memories. Eager to liberate these modest women, she teaches them how to express their untold stories, unleashing creativity of the most unexpected—and exciting—kind.
As more women are drawn to the class, Nikki warns her students to keep their work secret from the Brotherhood, a group of highly conservative young men who have appointed themselves the community’s “moral police.” But when the widows’ gossip offers shocking insights into the death of a young wife—a modern woman like Nikki—and some of the class erotica is shared among friends, it sparks a scandal that threatens them all.

Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody is $1.99 at Amazon and Barnes & Noble! This book was released in April and was one of my picks for April’s Hide Your Wallet. Some readers felt the story was bogged down by the worldbuilding, while others loved the descriptive writing and fantastical setting.
Welcome to the City of Sin, where casino families reign, gangs infest the streets…and secrets hide in every shadow.
Enne Salta was raised as a proper young lady, and no lady would willingly visit New Reynes, the so-called City of Sin. But when her mother goes missing, Enne must leave her finishing school—and her reputation—behind to follow her mother’s trail to the city where no one survives uncorrupted.
Frightened and alone, her only lead is a name: Levi Glaisyer. Unfortunately, Levi is not the gentleman she expected—he’s a street lord and con man. Levi is also only one payment away from cleaning up a rapidly unraveling investment scam, so he doesn’t have time to investigate a woman leading a dangerous double life. Enne’s offer of compensation, however, could be the solution to all his problems.
Their search for clues leads them through glamorous casinos, illicit cabarets and into the clutches of a ruthless Mafia donna. As Enne unearths an impossible secret about her past, Levi’s enemies catch up to them, ensnaring him in a vicious execution game where the players always lose. To save him, Enne will need to surrender herself to the city…
And she’ll need to play.

Playing the Part by Robin Covington is 99c at Amazon and $2.99 elsewhere! Covington writes some rather sexy contemporaries, if that happens to be your catnip. Readers definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a hot, fun, and quick read. However, some readers didn’t warm up to the hero until the very end of the book.
A sexy category romance from Entangled’s Brazen imprint…
The harder they play…the harder they fall.
After publicly self-destructing over a heartbreak a year ago, bestselling romance writer Piper James is now making nice with her publisher by agreeing to teach Hollywood’s favorite action star how to act like he’s in love. Only playboy Mick Blackwell has no clue what love looks like.
When a seductive heat ignites between Piper and Mick, she jumps at the chance for a bit of fun between the sheets, but with two stipulations: she’s kept out of the public eye and things end when she returns to New York. Only Mick keeps changing the rules on her. Tempted by America’s favorite bad boy, Piper is wondering how far she’s willing to bend…

Recipe for Kisses by Michelle Major is 99c at Amazon! The heroine owns a toy shop, which I think is pretty neat. The hero is a chef who wants the heroine’s location to open up his own restaurant. There’s definitely lots of lust going on, if that is or isn’t your preferred element when it comes to a romance. This is the second book in the Colorado Hearts series and all four books are available for less than $6.
Chloe Daniels doesn’t need a man—after escaping a marriage gone bad, she guards her heart as closely as the details of her past. So when hot-tempered celebrity chef Ben “the Beast” Haddox storms into her struggling toy store, Chloe is determined not to be drawn in by his broad shoulders…or baby-blue eyes.
In his hometown, Ben’s culinary career is almost as famous as his bad-boy rep. He’s out to prove to naysayers he’s a success by opening a new restaurant—and the only thing standing in his way is Chloe’s store. But before he has a chance to convert her space into his signature eatery, she cooks up a plan to show him that her shop is worth saving.
As things start to sizzle between them, Chloe must figure out how to avoid getting burned. Can she trust herself to love again, or has she jumped out of the frying pan and into desire?

Honor Among Thieves by Rachel Caine and Ann Aguirre is among the Amazon Daily Deals for $1.99. YA romantic futuristic adventure? With Ann Aguirre’s name on it? Gimme!
(While I’m not always on board for YA—it depends on the author and genre—a huge selling point is that it’s. Not. Contemporary…so it’s an escape.)
I really liked Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows! A little mystery, a little romance, a little family wrangling, a lot of female affirmation.
Point of Contact by Melanie Hanson is $0.99 through today. Mm contemporary between a military hero and his deceased best Army friend’s father (there’s a 14 year ago difference). Pretty emotional read, slow burn
There’s also a Nora Roberts boxed set called the “Nora Roberts Mystery Box Set” for $4.99 with 4 books in it.
Yissssss! I have wanted Punjabi Widows since I saw it reviewed, but the UK ebook price was ridiculous. 99p win!
