  • Fortune Favors the Wicked

Fortune Favors the Wicked by Theresa Romain

RECOMMENDED: Fortune Favors the Wicked by Theresa Romain is $1.99! There’s a treasure hunt, a blind hero, and a former courtesan heroine. Talk about catnip! Redheadedgirl gave this an A grade in a Lightning Review:

What I found the most interesting about this book was how the blind hero was written. He hadn’t always been blind – he was struck by a disease while he was in the Navy – and the narrative describes with abundant detail how he moves through a world he can’t see, but he still perceives. And I really appreciated that she doesn’t magically cure him of his blindness. Love doesn’t cure all things, and this is a part of who he is now.

    INDECENTLY LUCKY

As a lieutenant in the Royal Navy, Benedict Frost had the respect of every man on board—and the adoration of the women in every port. When injury ends his naval career, the silver-tongued libertine can hardly stomach the boredom. Not after everything—and everyone—he’s experienced. Good thing a new adventure has just fallen into his lap…

When courtesan Charlotte Perry learns the Royal Mint is offering a reward for finding a cache of stolen gold coins, she seizes the chance to build a new life for herself. As the treasure hunt begins, she realizes her tenacity is matched only by Benedict’s—and that sometimes adversaries can make the best allies. But when the search for treasure becomes a discovery of pleasure, they’ll be forced to decide if they can sacrifice the lives they’ve always dreamed of for a love they’ve never known…

  • Rookie Move

    Rookie Move by Sarina Bowen

Rookie Move by Sarina Bowen is $2.99! This is book one in the Brooklyn Bruisers series about a hockey team. Both Elyse and I have enjoyed books in this series, though I think we both agree that the second book, Hard Hitter is our favorite. Readers loved the second chance romance in this book, but found the pacing in the first half a bit slow.

The first novel in a sexy new series featuring the hockey players of the Brooklyn Bruisers and the women who win their hearts—from the USA Today bestselling author of the Ivy Years series.

In high school they were the perfect couple—until the day Georgia left Leo in the cold…

Hockey player Leo Trevi has spent the last six years trying to do two things: get over the girl who broke his heart, and succeed in the NHL. But on the first day he’s called up to the newly franchised Brooklyn Bruisers, Leo gets checked on both sides, first by the team’s coach—who has a long simmering grudge, and then by the Bruisers’ sexy, icy publicist—his former girlfriend Georgia Worthington.

Saying goodbye to Leo was one of the hardest things Georgia ever had to do—and saying hello again isn’t much easier. Georgia is determined to keep their relationship strictly professional, but when a press conference microphone catches Leo declaring his feelings for her, things get really personal, really fast….

  • Seize the Fire

Seize the Fire by Laura Kinsale

Seize the Fire by Laura Kinsale is $1.99! This historical romance was originally published in the late eighties and seems to feature a forced proximity element. But be warned, there seems to be several helpings of crazysauce in this one. If you’ve read it, tell us about your reading experience in the comments!

Olympia St. Leger is a princess in desperate need of a knight in shining armor. Sheridan Drake, amused by Olympia’s innocence and magnificent beauty, but also intrigued by her considerable wealth, accepts the position of white knight.

Unaware that Sheridan is a notorious scoundrel, Olympia willingly allows herself to submit to his protection and his potent embrace. Theirs is a love born in deception. But as they weather storms on the high seas and flee from nefarious villains, the love sparked by lies begins to burn uncontrollably.

Taking shelter on a desert island paradise, the princess and the dark knight battle overwhelming odds to keep their adoration burning bright.

  • Worth Searching For

Worth Searching For by Wendy Qualls

Worth Searching For by Wendy Qualls is 99c! This is a contemporary gay romance and I think the cover is pretty adorable. The chief complaint about the book is that the pacing is pretty slow, but others recommend this if you’re in the market for a sweet romance.

Most gay men wouldn’t expect to see their dreams come true in a small town in the Deep South. But the road to true love can lead to the unlikeliest places . . .

Disowned by his conservative Peruvian parents, Lito Apaza headed for gay-friendly Atlanta. Resilient, charismatic, and successful, he’s built a life on his terms—with a new family of friends and the unconditional love of his dog, Spot. Then his job forces him to relocate to tiny Black Lake, Alabama. Here, being fabulous isn’t exactly the town motto. However, Lito can’t help who he is any more than he can curb his feelings for a certain sexy ex-soldier.

A former dog handler in Afghanistan, Dave Schmidt now runs a volunteer K9 search-and-rescue team. Until he met Lito, his nights were free. As their hook-ups grow hotter, Dave and Lito have to admit this could be something nearer to romance. It’s not what Lito expected. And Dave isn’t used to the scrutiny of being visibly gay. Yet everything they’ve been secretly searching for could be right here in Black Lake. If Dave and Lito want a future together, one of them will have to make the first move . . .

  1. Katie Lynn says:

Completely agree on Rookie Move, it’s not my favorite by Bowen but still pretty good. I think the first books in her True North series and Ivy Years are still free. The Year We Fell Down is one of my favorite books.

Save the Date by Wendy Qualls and Annabeth Albert is free, cute MM novella that I enjoyed. I picked up the Qualls book here because I liked the novella (how much of that was Albert, who I love, and how much was Qualls is yet to be seen).

  2. Layla says:

Is “Seize the Fire” on sale anywhere? It’s still showing up as $6.99 for me.

  3. Mims says:

Not sure how long it’ll last but The Secret Lives of Introverts is $1.20 at Amazon.

  4. MAP174 says:

    Price drop alert:
King’s Captive by Amber Bardan was $3.99, now $2.49.
Calling it by Jen Doyle was $3.99 now $2.49.

  5. kitkat9000 says:

I love Sarina Bowen’s books, but a heads up for this may be necessary for some folks: TW for rape/sexual assault. IIRC it doesn’t happen on the page but it is discussed.

  6. EmRosa says:

(Book sale) dreams do come true — just now checked on the off-chance that The Hating Game by Sally Thorne was on (Kindle) sale, and it is! It’s $1.99. I even verified that it arrived in my Kindle safe and sound. Yes, yes, yes.

  7. Theresa says:

I loved Rookie Move but as others mentioned there are TW for sexual assault. This was a little different for me than the earlier Sarina Bowen books I had read – I think this was her first release with a major publisher? But I really liked the hero and heroine. I thought it was very interesting to see a lot of the events from a male perspective (the hero and the heroine’s dad). It was one of those books that makes me emotional.

  8. Alicia Holmes says:

Buy Kinsale’s “Sieze the Fire”; you will reread it annually. She depicts two survivors of family abuse & war stress, trying desparately to determine whether trust is possible and where dependable reality lies. They both ‘crush’ on each other, abuse each other emotionally, as they have been taught (like you do, right?), are marooned together (he is a cynical rake reaching for honor and kindness in treating with an astoundingly naive virgin) and bond honestly in survival cooperation, then the next episode whacks them both out of sanity again. Quixotic, Huck Finn-like, both in episodic structure and “keeper” depth. Kinsale has triumphed with radically different novel modes in each book. PTSD is the subject of StF, and she portrays the survivor’s repetitive need to restore sanity in a changing world that seems constantly to betray. Dedicated to Nam wounded warriors, daily surviving PTSD pressures.
