Whiskey Sharp: Jagged
Whiskey Sharp: Jagged by Lauren Dane is $1.99 at Amazon! This book came out just last Tuesday and right now, the lack of price-matching makes me worry that this deal might end really soon. Sarah mentioned that she was excited for this one in March 2018’s Hide Your Wallet, but issued a word of caution if you’re upset by narcissistic, gaslighting parents.
The sweetest reward comes after the longest wait
Vicktor Orlov took one look at the wary gaze and slow-to-trust personality of the deliciously sexy and fascinating Rachel Dolan and knew he wanted more than just a casual friendship. But as a natural protector, he also knew bossiness and overprotective maneuvering would push her away. He’ll use every tool in his easygoing arsenal to convince her to take a chance on them.
Rachel’s flourishing new career as a tattoo artist has brought color back into a life previously damaged by violence. She knows she can trust Vic—it’s herself she’s not sure of. She doesn’t want to be caged or controlled, protected so much she has no ability to make her own choices. And damn if the man doesn’t know it.
When Vic finally drops all pretenses of “just friends” and focuses all his careful affection and irresistible seduction on her, Rachel knows she’s falling hard for the laid-back pretty-boy Russian she’s discovered has a relentlessly steel spine when it comes to her.
And she can’t resist.

The Bride Who Got Lucky
The Bride Who Got Lucky by Janna MacGregor is $2.99! This is the second book in the Cavensham Heiresses historical romance series. Readers really enjoyed the chemistry and tension between the hero and heroine, but found there are a lot of subplots that made things feel disjointed at times. It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads.
On Sale for $1.99!
He would do anything to protect her. Even marry her…
The son of a cold-hearted duke, Nicholas St. Mauer isn’t one to involve himself in society…or open his own heart to anyone. But driven by honor, the reclusive Earl of Somerton feels obliged to keep a watchful eye on Lady Emma Cavensham. She possesses a penchant for passions unbecoming a woman that finds Nick in constant peril of losing his well-structured solitude. She even dared kiss Nick once—an utterly unladylike, and delightful, lapse…
Emma can’t deny the appeal of the earl’s attention, and occasional affection, but she has no need for a man. There are worse fates than spinsterhood, as Emma knows too well. She still mourns the loss of her dear friend Lena, and is determined to prove Lena’s husband responsible for her death before he lures another innocent woman into a brutal marriage. But as Emma pursues her prey, a compromising moment upends all her plans. Now, with gossip swirling and her reputation in tatters, Nick may be the only man brave enough to join in Emma’s cause. . .and fight for her heart.

The Star-Touched Queen
The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi is $2.99! This was mentioned on a previous Hide Your Wallet. This YA fantasy takes elements from Indian mythology and readers really enjoyed the worldbuilding. However, some felt the pacing was rather slow and the plot meandered rather than progressed. Have you read this one?
Cursed with a horoscope that promises a marriage of Death and Destruction, sixteen-year-old Maya has only earned the scorn and fear of her father’s kingdom. Content to follow more scholarly pursuits, her world is upheaved when her father, the Raja, arranges a wedding of political convenience to quell outside rebellions. But when her wedding takes a fatal turn, Maya becomes the queen of Akaran and wife of Amar. Yet neither roles are what she expected. As Akaran’s queen, she finds her voice and power. As Amar’s wife, she finds friendship and warmth.
But Akaran has its own secrets – thousands of locked doors, gardens of glass, and a tree that bears memories instead of fruit. Beneath Akaran’s magic, Maya begins to suspect her life is in danger. When she ignores Amar’s plea for patience, her discoveries put more than new love at risk – it threatens the balance of all realms, human and Otherworldly.
Now, Maya must confront a secret that spans reincarnated lives and fight her way through the dangerous underbelly of the Otherworld if she wants to protect the people she loves.
THE STAR TOUCHED QUEEN is a lush, beautifully written and vividly imagined fantasy inspired by Indian mythology.

Never Trust a Pirate
Never Trust a Pirate by Valerie Bowman is $2.99! Carrie read this one and noted it wasn’t historically accurate, if that puts a bee in your bonnet. However, she still gave it a B grade:
For solid, fun, escapist, fantasyland-historical sexy romance, it’s very good.
The rules of engagement were never so scandalous. . .
A rumored pirate and the scurrilous black sheep of his well-to- do family, Cade Cavendish relishes his world of rebellion, deception, and seduction. Nothing and no one can hold him to be the duty-bound, honorable man he is expected to be. But when an unexpected run-in at his twin brother’s estate with a ravishing, raven-haired maid leads her to believe he’s actually a viscount, Cade’s renegade life is thrown wildly off-kilter. And even though a case of mistaken identity can be quickly set to rights, matters of the heart are quite different…
Miss Danielle LaCrosse is startled to learn that the handsome gentleman who radiates sin and has the devil in his eyes is not her employer the Viscount, but rather his infamous brother. A former heiress, orphaned and left penniless, Danielle has more than a few secrets of her own. Cade may be skilled at coaxing even the most hidden desires out of Danielle but can he earn her trust—and win her heart—as they embark on an adventure to confront a dangerous enemy from both of their pasts . . . and uncover the identity of the so-called Black Fox along the way?

Has anyone of the lovely members of this community read The Bride Who Got Lucky? I wasn’t a fan of the first book in the series because I strongly disliked the hero, BUT this sounds like a lot of my catnip so I might give it a shot but would love to hear from anyone here who has read it!
@Katie C, THE BRIDE WHO GOT LUCKY is really good. Give it a chance–I think you’ll love it: strong story, great characters, Nick is swoon-worthy. The writing in this book is so much stronger.
Thanks @Denise! I just added it to my TBR list!
