HaBO: Peach Loves the Color Peach

This HaBO request was sent in from Leeann, who might be looking for a chick lit book over a straightforward romance:

I am looking for a book I read in the late eighties or early nineties. It was more of a chick lit book than a romance.

I remember one of the main characters name was Peach and I believe the author’s first name might have been Kate.

Here are a couple details I’m less sure about: Peach decorated her bedroom in the color peach (naturally) and she was going through a divorce from a wealthy man.

That’s a whole lot of peach.

  1. LauraL says:

Possibly Peach by Elizabeth Adler? Peach is a wealthy European heiress married to an American man who grew up poor. If I remember correctly, the series covers several generations. The action takes place in early to mid-20th century America and France.

  2. Leeann says:

LauraL – That plot doesn’t sound right but the cover look very familiar. I might have to see if my library has it. Thanks!

Not sure of the date, but I read a women’s fiction contemporary, where the main character is reinventing herself after a divorce from a wealthy man, and part of the reinvention involves switching her name from Priscilla to Peach. It was set in a small Southern town, I think, maybe part of a series– I think the cafe where she hangs out is run by a woman who was the main character in a previous book. Wish I could remember the title.

@Alissa that’s The Book of Peach, maybe? By Penelope Stokes. Idk if that’s what the HABO is about!

  5. Heather S says:

Reminds me a bit of “Cattail Moon” by Jean Thesman. The girl’s mom had her “colors done” and so all her clothes were peach. So 80s.

  6. Alissa says:

@Claudia– thanks, that’s the one I was thinking of. Didn’t seem to quite match the HABO, but I thought I’d at least mention it.

  7. Jill-Marie says:

The feels like it should be one by Mary Kay Andrews, but a quick search doesn’t turn up a match with Peach.
