Provocative
UPDATE: Deal no longe valid.
Provocative by Lisa Renee Jones is 99c at Amazon! This a romantic suspense novel and the first book in the White Lies Duet. Readers loved the sense of place in wine country! Hello! However, others wished there was more of plot. It has 4-rating on Goodreads. The second book is on sale for $2.99!
Book one in the sexy and scintillating new White Lies duet by Lisa Renee Jones!
There are those moments in life that are provocative in their very existences, that embed in our minds forever, and sometimes our very souls. They change us, mold us, maybe even save us. But some are darker, dangerous. If we allow them to, they control us. Seduce us. Quite possibly even destroy us.
The moment I walked into Sonoma’s Reid Winter Winery and Vineyard and made eye contact with Faith Winter for the first time was one of those moments. Provocative because I know at least one of her secrets, of which, I suspect she has many. Provocative because she believes I was a stranger to her when we met, but I am not. Provocative because I sought her out, with no intention of touching her. But now I have. Now I want her. Now I have to have her. But that changes nothing. It doesn’t change why I came for her.

Winter Garden
Winter Garden by Adele Ashworth is 99c! This is a historical romance with spies! However, readers seemed to be divided on the actual spying assignment. Some found it added a great element of action, while others felt it made little sense to them. This is the second book in the Winter Garden series and the first book is also on sale.
Though a celebrated French beauty in 1849, Madeleine DuMais’s cleverness is her greatest asset — and one she puts to good use as a spy for the British. When her expertise is needed in the south of England to break up a smuggling ring, Madeleine willingly puts her life on hold to help the crown …
Arriving in the quaint resort town of Winter Garden, Madeleine meets her partner in subterfuge. Thomas Blackwood is unlike any man she has ever met. His quiet confidence and mysterious intensity send shivers of pleasure coursing through her … shivers that slowly melt into a desperate passion. As duty gives way to desire, surrender holds its reward. And Madeleine will never recover from the touch of Thomas’s hands on her body — and the touch of his heart on her soul …

The Sheriff Catches a Bride
The Sheriff Catches a Bride by Cora Seton is 99c! This is a contemporary western romance and the fifth book in the series. If you’re looking to binge, all of the books are priced at $3.99 or less. The description hints at an unhealthy or even abusive relationship, so content warning for that. Some readers say this book is laced with crazysauce, which may or may not be someone’s catnip.
When county sheriff Cab Johnson gets a hunch, he’s learned to trust it, and his hunch tells him Rose Bellingham is in a peck of trouble. Bad enough he’s in love with her, bad enough she’s already engaged to Jason Thayer. He’s got to figure out what she’s hiding before he loses her for good.
Rose can’t stand one more person meddling in her business, even if that person is a handsome, eligible sheriff. She’s been controlled for far too long. But since her fiancé’s father is both her boss and landlord, she can’t dump Jason until she’s got somewhere to run. She’s found the perfect place: a patch of forest outside town. But with Cab watching her every move, she’s hard pressed to finish her hideaway so she can make her escape. Meanwhile, she’s not the only one with problems. Can she find a way to help her friends, too?
Just when Cab solves one mystery, more pop up. Where does Rose keep disappearing to? What’s wrong with Mia Start? Why is Hannah Chatham lying to her fiancé? At least he’s let Rose know he’s interested. And if he’s not mistaken, she’s interested, too.
Rose’s hideaway is perfect, until her friends invade it to escape their own troubles. Can she trust them to keep its whereabouts a secret? Does she want to hide from Cab anymore? Now that Jason’s out of the picture, is it safe to follow her heart?
When two unexpected visitors arrive with secrets of their own, Chance Creek must brace for its deadliest night ever. Can Cab figure out the connections between all the mysteries fast enough?
Or will Rose and her friends pay the ultimate price?

The Jewels of Kinfairlie Boxed Set by Claire Delacroix is $2.99! This set collects three full-length medieval romances, a novella, and an excerpt of another book by Delacroix. Not bad for less than three bucks! Have any of you read these books? If so, do you have a favorite?
Four magical medieval romances from the “Queen of Medieval Romance”, Claire Delacroix. Meet the siblings in the mischievous and loving family at Kinfairlie and follow their adventures in pursuit of true love.
In The Beauty Bride, Madeline is appalled by her older brother’s determination to see her wed against her will. When he auctions her hand to an outlawed mercenary, she flees them both, certain that her fate cannot be worse. But Rhys FitzHenry is not a man to abandon what he holds dear, and Madeline’s proud beauty has captured his heart. Can a rough knight enchant her with stories and convince her to be his wife in truth, or will his enemies have their vengeance first?
In The Rose Red Bride, Vivienne is convinced that only destiny could bring such a wondrous secret lover to her chamber, but with morning’s light, her lover abducts her. Erik knows that justice can only be gained from the Lammergeier with force, especially as the fate of his young daughters hangs in the balance. In The Snow White Bride, Eleanor seeks sanctuary at Kinfairlie on Christmas Eve. The Laird of Kinfairlie’s sisters decide that the beautiful widow will be the perfect match for their brother. Even the description for that Cora Seton was crazysauce. Now I really want to read it.
Anyone who likes contemporaries and crazysauce should definitely check out Cora Seton, who often has free and sale e-books. Currently free is A SEAL’s Oath, the most deliciously crazy one I’ve read yet, where Jane Austen fans on an artistic sabbatical vie with environmentalist SEALs trying to create a sustainable community for use of a distant relative’s land. It isn’t really a spoiler to say that the last line is something ridiculous like “He couldn’t wait to start their sustainable Regency life together.” A+ crazysauce.
Vivian Shaw’s Strange Practice is $2.99. Starring Dr. Greta Helsing, physician to the “differently alive.”
Josh Lanyon’s Fair Game (first book in the All’s Fair series) is 1.99 or at least it was last night when I snatched it up.
Sure it’s not Sheriff Abs Johnson?
Can anyone who has read Provocative tell me *why* he’s sought out Faith? Because, seriously, reading that description makes me think that 1, he intends to kill her, which leads to 2, how can there be a sequel?
Ashley Gardner’s Captain Lacey Regency mysteries are enjoyable reads. The first three novels and two stories are currently on sale for Kindle readers for 99 cents. Ashley Gardner is a pseudonym of Jennifer Ashley.
The set is entitled: Captain Lacey Regency Mysteries Volume One by Ashley Gardner and Jennifer Ashley
And currently free by the same author is Past Crimes: A Compendium of Historical Mysteries by Ashley Gardner and Jennifer Ashley.
Putting Cora Seton on my authors to try list. Sounds like a bunch of crazy going on.
It looks like there are maybe four or five Cora Seton books free for kindle right now. I’m trying the Jane Austin fans v SEALs one described above (thank you!) but I looked at my review of another book of hers and apparently I thought it was technically proficient but so substance-free that I could barely finish it…
Ooh. I really liked Lanyon’s ‘Fair Game’ and the next one too. I’ve been hoping he continues with those characters. They seemed so real…..
Seriously- I think you need to interview Cora Seton. I just got her free books and paid for one (cuz’ that seems fair)based upon the Jane Austin/SEALs book description. As to the cowboy book (which I purchased and will read after Nora Roberts decimates the world’s population), I’m seriously wondering how that lady in the cowboy book thinks hiding from her fiance in the woods is gonna work? Is she planning on never coming out again? Will there be plumbing? How will she eat? Is her toilet paper/tampon situation addressed? And, clearly, it is not a great hiding place if all her friends know and they show up. I have a lot of questions. But, I’m actually moving this and Jane Austin/SEAL book up there on the TBR (after La Nora, of course).
@kitkat9000: I haven’t read it, but the reviews suggest he’s investigating his father’s death, which leads him to her/her family.
+10 completely uninformative book description. Plot? We don’t need no steenking plot!
Provocative by Lisa Renee Jones : got a third into the book, DNF. The hero’s out to prove the heroine is probably a murderess but whaddya know, she’s hot so he’ll bang her too. She’s an artist who now denies her art because she has to save her daddy’s winery ; then there’s this big art show where she’s invited to expose by a world-renowned artist and her agent accepted without asking her. Coz if he had, she’d have said no… W.T.F. The art world is hard. Like, very hard. You don’t get such opportunities unless you work your ass off for it. And I’m supposed to believe her place is just kept warm until she decides she’s an artist after all ? No. No no no. Other minuses : the hero and heroine have no chemistry and the build-up about the murder thingie was not well-done (the crumbs of information where diseminated through interior monolgue, with the heroine forcing herself to think of something else just when it became interesting… so irritating ! aaaaargh!)
Cora Seton… all the comments make her books sounds interesting~
Update: am enjoying the Cora Seton about SEALs and Austenites very much so far…
