Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

HaBO: Shifters Party at Local Bar

You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!

This HaBO request comes from Tammy, who wants to find a pretty raucous paranormal series:

My husband and I spent two hours last night trying to find a series that I thought was no my Kindle and had read several years ago. Here are some of the keywords/phrases I can think of (although these books sound even more ridiculous when reduced to keywords 🙂

    • at least two books in the series, one involved brother/cousin? wolves and a human female. The other involved two brothers who were big cats and the female
    • contemporary time frame
    • small town in mountains populated by changers of multiple types (wolves, bears, cats, etc)
a bar/saloon is central to many of the scenes
    • periodically (full moon, maybe) things get pretty wild in the bar with an all night moon-mad everyone in heat thing (kind of like your average frat party but with less drinking and better looking dudes)
    • magical matings for life that are threesomes
    • there is an evil demonic (?) threat (because quasi-beastiality in threesomes isn’t enough excitement???)
    • I have no idea what color her dress was or wasn’t on the cover or anywhere else

As someone who loves paranormal romances and good menage scene, I feel like I desperately need this series in my life.

Sounds like a Sherrilyn Kenyon “night” series” – there is a bar there that is run by shape-shifting bears but also has wolf and tiger shifters involved. Not sure which one but it’s sort of an ongoing theme. Or maybe a Christeen Freeham? There is a lot of “mates” theme going on but I can’t really recall a threesome.

  2. Tabs says:

This could be Cherise Sinclair’s Wild Hunt Legacy series. http://cherisesinclair.com/hour-of-the-lion/

    Hour of the Lion
    Winter if the Wolf
    Eventide of the Bear

  3. pixie204 says:

This sounds like Hour of the Lion by Cherise Sinclair (the rest of the series is Winter of the Wolf, and Eventide of the Bear)

  4. kkw says:

Carina Press and Ellora’s Cave both seemed to have an endless supply of shifter ménage. If it’s not any of the above books, maybe Lauren Dane or Lora Leigh or Maya Banks, they all do shifters and poly, but Cherise Sinclair and Sherilyn Kenyon were my first thoughts.

  5. Becky says:

Definitely sounds like Winter of the Wolf. The heroine seems fragile, but she gets to be a badass in the end. Also, who wouldn’t want little sprites that clean your house for you?

  6. clee says:

    Eve Langlanais maybe?

  7. Payne says:

Could be Lauren Dane’s Pack series.

  8. JenM says:

As others have mentioned, Cherise Sinclair’s shifter series immediately came to mind when I read this description and I’m sure that’s what the poster is looking for. It’s a good series. Unlike her erotic romances, it doesn’t have BDSM elements, but it does have menages.

  9. Jillian says:

Maybe Nancy Corrigan’s Royal-Kagan Shifter series? There’s an entire book about a human/Werewolf relationship, another about throuple forming with life mates*, a human woman marked by a cat shifter who then abandons her, the bar is on human territory and is a neutral site, the full moon gets wild with mating ‘runs,’ it ticks a lot of boxes. There’s a threat that seems to run through multiple books (I only read one, but the sequel bait setup was definitely there) of shifters being kidnapped for fighting rings.

  10. ijinx says:

Sounds like you’ve read lots of Jenny Penn’s books – Cattleman’s Club and Sea Island Wolves series in particular.

  11. Judy W. says:

Could this be “Mine to Possess” by Nalini Singh? Her series has lots of shifters

  12. Judy W. says:

Could this be “Mine to Possess” by Nalini Singh? Her series has lots of shifters and this one starts out in a bar I think

  13. MegS says:

Totally Cherise Sinclair! Down to the hell-hounds. And the full moon sex parties. I had a blast with it–definitely have read it more than once.

  14. DonnaMarie says:

Well, whether this HABO is solved or not, I’m grateful for all the TBR fodder the Bitchery is providing. Thanks ladies (or lada, as the case might be).

  15. Granea says:

I think it’s definitely the Wild Hunt series by Cherise Sinclair. She’s an autobuy for me and I just reread them last month.

  16. Aly P says:

I’m 2nd-ing the Cherise Sinclair suggestion.
    It’s definitely not Nalini Singh

  17. roserita says:

When I read the headline I thought this must be Shelly Laurenston’s “Pride” series, but nope, she doesn’t do menage. She does have shifter karaoke bars (male lions singing Mariah Carey, jackals singing Rawhide, and evidently honey badgers loooove the Pina Colada song), so there is that.

  18. Sandy says:

If Tammy can’t find the book she’s looking for, maybe she should check out that were-hedgehog book that RedHeadedGirl reviewed awhile back.

  19. Cristie says:

@ Roserita–Male lions singing Mariah Carey?! Omg I’m buying that right the hell now!

  20. Tammy says:

OK, guys you nailed it! I know I had double checked Cherise S. but I bet I was sidetracked by the cover art which doesn’t look at all like I remembered it and I had thought it was an author a little less well known. Anyway, downloading now along with the book about badgers that like “makin love at midnight to a dude in a cape.” How can that be anything but awesome? Thanks, so much. Just in time for vacay.

  21. Teresa C says:

This HABO reminded me of the True Mates series by Zena Wynn. Book 2 is Mary and the Bear. That title has stuck with me for a long time.

  22. MMV says:

“Making love at mightnight to a dude in a cape”. Is this Shelley Laurenstone Bite me? The pride series has ten books so far.
    Which one, please!

  23. greennily says:

It reminded me of Shelly Laurenstone too. If other authors are not it, at least check out Pride series, maybe it’s one of those. There are lion-brothers, small town with different shifters and sinister evil on one of the hills.

  24. MegS says:

Honey badgers and karaoke are from Bite Me! I think she’s doing a spin-off honey badger series, too. Bite Me is great. It also has a HB jousting cats and bears at a Ren Faire…

  25. MMV says:

Thanks MegS ! On the way to download it.

  26. LisaJo885 says:

I wonder if authors see a big bump to their purchases after these HaBOs and wonder “WTF just happened?” 🙂
