  • Some Like It Geek

Some Like It Geek by Zoe York

Some Like It Geek is $3.99! I’m not sure if this is the sale price of not, but this is an anthology that features seven romances with geeky characters. Some appear to be more on the erotic side as well. Many readers liked the “geeky” elements, but found all the Navy SEAL heroes to be out of place a little bit.

Seven great stories! Do you love an intelligent hero? Do you like the awkward girl getting swept off her feet? Do you like things kinky, sweaty, wild or virtual? Then we’ve got a story for you!

    Fall Quiet by Zoe York
A chance meeting on a Caribbean island gives Navy SEAL Quinn Parry another opportunity to impress the sexiest Army sergeant he’s ever laid eyes on. But Leah Saunders isn’t interested in an over-the-top alpha male…unless he wants to submit to her.

To Score or Not to Score by Angela Quarles
One blind date. One case of mistaken identity. One Navy SEAL faced with his high school crush. What could go wrong?

Once she mistakes me for her blind date, my plan is clear. Be this Rick the Lawyer she thinks I am. And for the space of this coffee date, talk to the only woman who’s ever made me feel any spark outside of combat. Best case scenario, I get to be outside my skin—free to be whatever the hell I want. Worst case—she recognizes me as we chat. She’ll be pissed, call me an asshole, but it won’t be anything she hasn’t called me in the past, so… Win/Win?

The Adorkable Girl and the Geek (Gone Geek 5) by Sidney Bristol
Best friends Nate and Cara have the same secret, they’re hopelessly in love with each other. Embarking on an emotional and often boundary testing discovery, they delve into the depth of their feelings. But Nate has secret desires that might tear them apart before they’ve even begun.

The Girl Next Door by C. Jordan
When ex-Navy SEAL Derek Forrester takes a job working security at a local sci-fi convention, he’s thrown together with his next-door neighbor, Katie Jones. A good girl— not his type. But he wants her anyway. And now she’s wearing racy costumes. Shy, geeky Katie only comes out of her shell when cosplaying. She can be a different woman—a sexy, confident one. One who can be as bad as Derek wants.

Bath Bomb by Clara Leigh (Forbidden Bad Boys)
Recipe for a wild weekend: Take one geeky actor, a video game idol, and cinema’s best known towel model. Add a chocolate-box cottage, a liberal sprinkling of snow… make that lots of snow, and an oversized bathtub.

    Result: THREESOME!

Join Lorne, Jasper and Mikayla as they shed their winter woollies, and get wet ‘n’ wild in the wilderness. Identities are mistaken, feelings get bruised, but plenty of hot stuff happens too.

In the Spotlight by Ally Decker
Pretending to date a movie star definitely wasn’t on Sylvia Urban’s agenda but a girl has to do what a girl has to do. And after a paparazzo catches them in rather uncompromising position, this is exactly what this girl has to do.

Greg Abrams really needs everything to go right if he wants his new project to get green-lighted, but when the cute Broadway geek almost literally falls into his life, things get complicated really fast.

As the pair grows closer, the ‘pretend’ part of pretend dating gets thrown out of the window, but after they started off as a lie, it’s hard to know what’s real and what’s not.
    And the clock is ticking.

    Play by Olivia Devon
Aaron Eldridge’s passion for his latest virtual reality program skyrockets when he meets a woman who shares his obsession for all things geek. The premier launch of HyperLyfe at Lux, Manhattan’s hottest sex club, would be a perfect opportunity to get Katie Martinez to check out his new toy, and the kinky sex ideas he has in mind.

What if your deepest fantasies could come true?

In virtual reality, anything is possible…

  • While the Duke Was Sleeping

While the Duke Was Sleeping by Sophie Jordan

While the Duke Was Sleeping by Sophie Jordan is $1.99! This is a historical romance retelling of the movie While You Were Sleeping. Some readers thought the story worked better as a contemporary romcom. Others loved the animosity and banter between the hero and heroine early on in the book.

Sometimes the man of your dreams . . .

Shop girl Poppy Fairchurch knows it’s pointless fantasizing about the Duke of Autenberry. Still, dreams can’t hurt anyone . . . unlike the carriage Poppy spies bearing down upon the unsuspecting duke. After she pulls him to safety, the duke lapses into a coma and Poppy is mistaken for his fiancée. But one person isn’t fooled: his arrogant and much too handsome half-brother, Struan Mackenzie. Soon Poppy isn’t sure what she wants more . . . the fantasy of her duke or the reality of one smoldering Scot who challenges her at every turn.

. . . is not who you think.

An illegitimate second son, Struan may have built an empire and established himself as one of the wealthiest men in Britain, but he knows he will always be an outsider among the ton. Just like he knows the infuriating Poppy is a liar. There’s no way the haughty Duke of Autenberry would deign to wed a working class girl. It doesn’t matter how charming she is. Or tempting. Or how much Struan wants her for himself.

  • The Copper Promise

The Copper Promise by Jen Williams

The Copper Promise by Jen Williams is $1.99! This is a fantasy adventure novel and I kind of love the cover. Readers proudly proclaim that there are dragons! However, others felt the second half lost a bit of momentum on the plot.

There are some far-fetched rumours about the caverns beneath the Citadel…

Some say the mages left their most dangerous secrets hidden there; others, that great riches are hidden there; even that gods have been imprisoned in its darkest depths.

For Lord Frith, the caverns hold the key to his vengeance. Against all the odds, he has survived torture and lived to see his home and his family taken from him … and now someone is going to pay. For Wydrin of Crosshaven and her faithful companion, Sir Sebastian Caverson, a quest to the Citadel looks like just another job. There’s the promise of gold and adventure. Who knows, they might even have a decent tale or two once they’re done.

But sometimes there is truth in rumour.

Soon this reckless trio will be the last line of defence against a hungry, restless terror that wants to tear the world apart. And they’re not even getting paid.

  • If I Stay

If I Stay by Tamara Morgan

If I Stay by Tamara Morgan is 99c! This is the first book in the small town Montgomery Manor series and the rest of the books are also on sale. Some readers mentioned having trouble getting into the book, but others loved the chauffeur hero. Have you read this one?

Ryan Lucas would rather be anywhere but Ransom Creek, Connecticut. After losing his high-adrenaline career as a Hollywood stunt driver, he’s had to tuck his tail between his legs and take up employment as a chauffeur for the Montgomerys, a wealthy hotelier family.

Amy Sanders has returned home to Ransom Creek to take over her mother’s former position as nanny to the Montgomerys—bringing her close to dashing Jake Montgomery once again. She grew up with a major crush on Jake, and it’s not easy to leave those feelings behind, even though her friendship with the hard-edged family chauffeur, Ryan, has a sizzling undercurrent of undeniable attraction.

Amy’s determined to prove to Ryan that life at Montgomery Manor isn’t all bad, but each time they draw closer Jake swoops in. Amy is torn between two men—and two worlds. And Ryan is rapidly coming to learn that if he wants to make Amy his, he’ll have to prove to her that life downstairs can be everything they both want.

  1. Ren Benton says:

I also kind of love the cover of The Copper Promise. And furthermore:

Dungeon craaaaawl is the greatest crawl of aaaaall
No hero’s too smaaaaall for a dungeon craaaaaawl

(Which I thought was from Adventure Time but now can’t find on the interweb so maybe it was just a fever dream I remember extraordinarily vividly. Either way, I’m up for a dungeon crawl book.)

  2. LovelloftheWolves says:

I haven’t read “While the Duke was Sleeping” but I do do do adore the movie “While You Were Sleeping.” It’s such a fantastic movie, definitely one of my favorite rom-coms.

@Jacqueline – as you’ve read the book – does family has the same kind of role in this version? Because it’s such an important (and lovely) part of the movie, and the blurb does not in any way indicate that the family features at all. 🙁 (especially since Amanda said this was a re-telling and not merely “inspired by”)

This book has a real high bar to pass.

  3. Mona says:

@Ren Benton: are you familiar with the Goblins webcomic? More dungeon crawl reading! There is a romance plot line, too!

  4. Ren Benton says:

    @Mona: I do now! 😀

  5. Ren Benton says:

    *am now.

Go off to read a comic, come back, and forget the question I’m responding to. ~mumble grumble~

  6. Dora says:

While the Duke Was Sleeping sounds interesting. I do love stories where someone is desperately trying to keep a high-stakes secret while someone else is trying to ferret it out.

  7. Rose says:

I LOVE While You Were Sleeping. I had a giddy smile on my face for the rest of this post after that summary. I know it’s goofy and problematic but O, how I love it. And this retelling looks adorable!

If I Stay reminds me of an interesting debate from a few posts back, when readers commented that being too familiar with the heroine’s profession (e.g. ballerina, physical therapist, librarian) pulled them out of the story. I married a man from rural Connecticut who grew up dirt poor in a huge, centuries-old ramshackle house surrounded by nothing but cows and trailers and churches. The state is often used as shorthand for fabulous wealth or elite lifestyles, and certainly those are present, but almost exclusively in Fairfield County. My familiarity with the majority of the state always distracts from the setting.

Not to say this book isn’t awesome! Just an entirely personal observation. I haven’t read it yet, but I do love a rough-hewn chauffeur.

  8. Christine says:

@Kathleen Wow! Those are atrocious! But at least it doesn’t seem to be a case of good books being saddled with bad covers… the books themselves sound awful, too.

  9. Antipodean Shenanigans says:

I didn’t love “While the Duke was Sleeping” as the hero didn’t live up to his great supporting character turn in a previous book, but the family was the highlight. I would definitely read more in the series for the family alone.

“But Leah Saunders isn’t interested in an over-the-top alpha male…unless he wants to submit to her.” Yes please! Plus another in the Gone Geek series by Sidney Bristol. That’s a One Click.

  10. Georgina says:

Thanks for pointing that out, Antipodean Shenanigans! I skimmed over the description and missed it, but I’m always on the lookout for femdom stories.

It looks as though another Zoe York novel in the same series, Fall Out, is free on Amazon, too.

  11. kitkat9000 says:

Since there isn’t a separate sales post for today (Friday), I’m posting this here.

If anyone is interested, there are a lot of Agatha Christie’s books for sale today only for $1.99.
