I always take a handkerchief. Besides being ever so much nicer than Kleenex, it can be quite helpful to have a piece of cloth with you.
Other than wallet, phone and keys? Chapstick, lactaid and antacids!
Chapstick, chapstick, and did I mention chapstick? I’m totally addicted to it, have been for decades, and always have a tube (plus a carefully-hidden back-up tube, in case I lose the first one) with me. On one infamous vacation, I made my husband drive off the interstate and find a convenience store when my frantic search revealed a chapstick-free purse.
Sunblock. I live in the desert and my kids are all so fair, that I have a tube and a stick so they (we) don’t get burned.
Keys, wallet, phone and charger cable.
My Kindle, phone and lip balm. Plus a bunch of kid stuff – nappies, wipes, snacks, wipes, water bottles, wipes, spare clothes, wipes… did I mention wipes?
No matter where I am going, I always bring a book or my Kindle.

My bag is small so as long as I have my smart phone I always have a book to read. Never leave home without it!
Since every time I leave my house it is to chauffeur a kid somewhere, I never leave home without my kindle in my purse and a book for backup. Getting stuck at a two hour baseball practice without reading material is the stuff nightmares are made of.
Sadly my current purse is a diaper bag, so I never leave home without my wallet and diapers . But potty training is on the horizon and this bag would be a gorgeous replacement!!

My mini umbrella! I live in NYC and walk everywhere, so it only took one unexpected shower on my way to work to make me realize I need to have it with me at all times.
A list. I almost always have a list of some kind in my purse.
I cannot leave without my little bag of coupons!! You never know when a mini shopping event will take place & I must be prepared! Oh, and of course my Stila lipstick in brûlée:)
