  • Heated Rivals

    Heated Rivals by Katee Robert

The Wedding Pact by Katee Robert is $2.99! This is the second book in the O’Malley series and does feature a mafia family. It’s a contemporary romance with an arranged marriage and I even made a yummy cocktail for it! Some readers recommend reading the previous book (also on sale!) to get a full understanding of the family dynamics. But others loved the Romeo & Juliet vibe of the romance.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katee Robert continues her smoking-hot series about the O’Malleys—wealthy, powerful, and full of scandalous family secrets.

Carrigan O’Malley has always known her arranged marriage would be more about power and prestige than passion. But after one taste of the hard-bodied, whiskey-voiced James Halloran, she’s ruined for anyone else. Too bad James and his family are enemy number 1.

Hallorans vs. O’Malleys—that’s how it’s always been. James should be thinking more about how to expand his family’s empire instead of how silky Carrigan’s skin is against his and how he can next get her into his bed. Those are dangerous thoughts. But not nearly as dangerous as he’ll be if he can’t get what he wants: Carrigan by his side for the rest of their lives.

  • Why Do Dukes Fall in Love

Why Do Dukes Fall in Love by Megan Frampton

Why Do Dukes Fall in Love by Megan Frampton is $1.99! This historical romance has an employer/secretary romance and a hero who seems to be head over heels for the heroine. Readers loved the heroine, but found the main source of conflict was easy to overcome. Have you read this one?

In Megan Frampton’s captivating new Dukes Behaving Badly novel, we learn the answer to the question:

Why do dukes fall in love?

Michael, the Duke of Hadlow, has the liberty of enjoying an indiscretion . . . or several. But when it comes time for him to take a proper bride, he ultimately realizes he wants only one woman: Edwina Cheltam. He’d hired her as his secretary, only to quickly discover she was sensuous and intelligent.

They embark on a passionate affair, and when she breaks it off, he accepts her decision as the logical one . . . but only at first. Then he decides to pursue her.

Michael is brilliant, single-minded, and utterly indifferent to being the talk of the ton. It’s even said his only true friend is his dog. Edwina had begged him to marry someone appropriate–—someone aristocratic . . . someone high-born . . . someone else. But the only thing more persuasive than a duke intent on seduction is one who has fallen irrevocably in love.

  • Someone Like You

Someone Like You by Lauren Layne

Someone Like You by Lauren Layne is 99c! This is third book in the Oxford series, but it can be read as a standalone. Though the hero is a sex columnist playboy, readers loved the hero’s secret and his Maltese puppy named Kiwi. Trigger warning for the heroine, as she was a victim of domestic abuse in a previous relationship.

Lauren Layne’s bestselling Oxford Series continues with the poignant, heartwarming story of New York’s most eligible bachelor, Lincoln Mathis, a man who’s living a lie—until his dream woman takes away the pain.

Lincoln Mathis doesn’t hide his reputation as Manhattan’s ultimate playboy. In fact, he cultivates it. But behind every flirtatious smile, each provocative quip, there’s a secret that Lincoln’s hiding from even his closest friends—a tragedy from his past that holds his heart quietly captive. Lincoln knows what he wants: someone like Daisy Sinclair, the sassy, off-limits bridesmaid he can’t take his eyes off at his best friend’s wedding. He also knows that she’s everything he can never have.

After a devastating divorce, Daisy doesn’t need anyone to warn her off the charming best man at her sister’s wedding. One look at the breathtakingly hot Lincoln Mathis and she knows that he’s exactly the type of man she should avoid. But when Daisy stumbles upon Lincoln’s secret, she realizes there’s more to the charming playboy than meets the eye. And suddenly Daisy and Lincoln find their lives helplessly entwined in a journey that will either heal their damaged souls . . . or destroy them forever.

Ooh, the Lauren Layne has a Deadpoolesque “ain’t life awful? lol” meet cute, which is my nip of choice. *grabby hands*

The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan, which was well-reviewed here last year, is $1.99 at Amazon and B&N.

  3. Antipodean Shenanigans says:

Ooh I’ve read some of these.
I enjoyed Why Do Dukes Fall in Love. They were great as a couple and the scenes with the duke and the heroine’s daughter were adorable. I wish we could have gotten a little more depth in the characters. The duke was the classic “smart person who ignores emotions” Mr Spock trope.
Someone Like You was very sweet, but definitely high on angst. I like angst, but I know that’s a turn off for some.
