Lord Sebastian’s Secret

Lord Sebastian’s Secret by Jane Ashford is 99c! If you’ve picked up Heir to the Duke in our Sourcebooks sale, this is the third book in the same series. Readers loved the hero, who keeps his dyslexia hidden, but found that there were too many silly elements that took away from the romance.
Lord Sebastian Gresham is a battle-tested soldier and brilliant strategist. Yet all his life he’s had to hide his complete failure to decipher letters. In his own mind, he’s just stupid. What a miracle it is that he’s found the perfect bride.
Lady Georgina Stane is beautiful, witty, and brilliantly intelligent. Sebastian is head over heels in love, proud as a peacock, and terrified. If she finds out his secret, will he lose her love forever?

Giving It All by Christi Barth is 99c! This is the third book in the Naked Men series, which is about a group of heroes who run a popular blog. Readers really loved the chemistry between the hero and heroine, but some found there was a change in tone partway through the book that felt odd.
Christi Barth’s smoking-hot contemporary romance series continues as the five best friends who survived a tragedy as teenagers take to their Naked Men podcast to open up about women. In Giving It All, the group’s globe-trotting hunk discovers that you need to go home to find love.

RECOMMENDED: A Duchess in Name by Amanda Weaver is 99c! Redheadedgirl reviewed the book and gave it a B+:
This book involves a massive renovation, a HERO that was won in a card game, awkwardness, and learning to love each other despite a most inauspicious beginning. Throw in some terrible parenting, and we got ourselves what could totally be a miniseries jointly produced by ITV and HGTV.
Victoria Carson never expected love. An American heiress and graduate of Lady Grantham’s finishing school, she’s been groomed since birth to marry an English title—the grander the better. So when the man chosen for her, the forbidding Earl of Dunnley, seems to hate her on sight, she understands that it can’t matter. Love can have no place in this arrangement.
Andrew Hargrave has little use for his title and even less for his cold, disinterested parents. Determined to make his own way, he’s devoted to his life in Italy working as an archaeologist. Until the collapse of his family’s fortune drags him back to England to a marriage he never wanted and a woman he doesn’t care to know.
Wild attraction is an unwanted complication for them both, though it forms the most fragile of bonds. Their marriage of convenience isn’t so intolerable after all—but it may not be enough when the deception that bound them is finally revealed.

RECOMMENDED: The Devil’s Daughter by Katee Robert is $1.99 at Amazon! Elyse read this and gave it a B grade, saying that it could have used a bit more romance:
The Devil’s Daughter is high on tension, but light on gore and scares, so readers typically leery of suspense might consider this novel.
Growing up in a small town isn’t easy, especially when you’re the daughter of a local cult leader. Ten years ago, Eden Collins left Clear Springs, Montana, and never once looked back. But when the bodies of murdered young women surface, their corpses violated and marked with tattoos worn by her mother’s followers, Eden, now an FBI agent, can’t turn a blind eye. To catch the killer, she’s going to have to return to the fold.
Sheriff Zach Owens isn’t comfortable putting Eden in danger, even if she is an elite agent. And he certainly wasn’t expecting to be so attracted to her. As calm and cool as she appears, he knows this can’t be a happy homecoming. Zach wants to protect her—from her mother, the cult, and the evil that lurks behind its locked gates. But Eden is his only key to the tight-lipped group, and she may just be closer to the killer than either one of them suspects…

I love the dress on the Duchess in Name cover.
Another recommend for Duchess in Name! I picked it up when it was on sale previously, and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately the follow up books were still pretty expensive, or I would have purchased them as well.
I swear, the heroine on the Lord Sebastian’s Secret cover looks like she’s admiring his beard. “It’s so pretty and hairy, I can’t stop staring at all your hair follicles!”
Mr Giving It All Dude just looks like he’s doing a pit sniff and trying to be reeeeaally subtle about it.
Damn I love this genre, almost as much as I love A Duchess In Name’s cover. Like, SOMEONE PUT THAT ON A TAPESTRY PLEASE! I would buy the shit out of that.
I really like the Devil’s Daughter a lot, but it’s not *entirely* free of gore. I guess the descriptions aren’t quite as explicit, but there’s enough implied about the serial killer and what they’re up to that I think squeamish readers might have some issues. At least, that’s my own opinion as a high-tolerance-for-serial-killers reader. But it is true that much of the tension in the book is psychological, as you try to figure out exactly what Eden’s mom is up to and what the cult members know/want.
Another book on sale, for 99 cents, is Tawna Fenske’s Now That’s It’s You , which was nominated for a RITA this year. (I promise I’m not a Tawna shill, I just saw her post on FB today that it’s on sale.) 🙂
What up with the thing in the belly button on the Giving it All guy?? It looks like he forgot to the clean the lint out.
@Dottiebears BWAHAHA RIGHT?!??! Maybe it’s his security blanket. You know, a piece of comfy lint he can have easy, gross-ass instant access to at any point he has a sad.
I just have a question about A Duchess in Name – the description seems to have her marrying an earl … wouldn’t that make her a countess?
@todd the earl is heir to a dukedom…
Very much enjoyed A Duchess in Name. And am hoping for a price drop on the others.
Cult survivors being one of my catnips (I was once invited to midnight mass by Anton LeVey and several times argued theology with David Koresh), I am off to once click Devil’s Daughter. And will add that I and several other friends who grew up as very religious/missionary kids love Taylor Stevens’ Munroe series. Not romance but a kick-ass heroine who is an ex-missionary kid. The author herself is ex-Children of God.
