The Irresistible Rogue

The Irresistible Rogue by Valerie Bowman is $1.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and is being price-matched by a couple other vendors. This historical romance has catnip all over it: a spy hero, a married couple, a heroine seeking an annulment. This is the fourth book in the Playful Brides series, but can be read as a standalone.
A PROPOSAL FROM A SCOUNDREL
Daphne Swift has not laid eyes on her devilishly charming husband, Captain Rafferty Cavendish, in quite some time. As a matter of fact, she wants the rogue to annul their brief marriage so that she can marry the reliable and estimable Lord Fitzwell. But the breathtakingly handsome Rafe is not interested in letting Daphne go-at least not without paying his scandalous price…THE SEDUCTION OF HIS WIFE
Rafe prefers to face the dangers of spying alone, but this time he needs his innocent, fiery wife to uncover the information he seeks. He has even agreed to release her from their marriage if she submits completely to his plan. However, Daphne’s alluring combination of courage and curves makes her a dangerous distraction, and it is not long before Rafe is trading subterfuge for seduction in order to prove that Daphne is meant to be his and his alone…Add to Goodreads To-Read List →

The Talon of the Hawk by Jeffe Kennedy is $2.99! This is a fantasy romance with a warrior heroine and it’s the third book in The Twelve Kingdoms series. There are some plot details that have carried over from the first two books, but many recommended this one if you’re a fan of action adventure romances.
Three daughters were born to High King Uorsin, in place of the son he wanted. The youngest, lovely and sweet. The middle, pretty and subtle, with an air of magic. And the eldest, the Heir. A girl grudgingly honed to leadership, not beauty, to bear the sword and honor of the king.
Ursula’s loyalty is as ingrained as her straight warrior’s spine. She protects the peace of the Twelve Kingdoms with sweat and blood, her sisters from threats far and near. And she protects her father to prove her worth. But she never imagined her loyalty would become an open question on palace grounds. That her father would receive her with a foreign witch at one side and a hireling captain at the other—that soldiers would look on her as a woman, not as a warrior. She also never expected to decide the destiny of her sisters, of her people, of the Twelve Kingdoms and the Thirteenth. Not with her father still on the throne and war in the air. But the choice is before her. And the Heir must lead…

Heat Wave by Karina Halle is 99c! This is a standalone contemporary romance and I’m probably going to break down and buy this one because it sounds awesome. Some readers thought the hero was a bit of a jerk, but others loved the lush, vivid descriptions of Hawaii.
hey say when life closes one door, another one opens.
This door happens to lead to paradise.
And a man I can never, ever have. This is forbidden love at its finest.HEAT WAVE is a STANDALONE contemporary ROMANCE from the NYT bestselling author of The Pact and Love, in English
Still grieving the loss of her sister who died two years ago, the last thing Veronica “Ronnie” Locke needed was to lose her job at one of Chicago’s finest restaurants and have to move back in with her parents. So when a window of opportunity opens for her – running a kitchen at a small Hawaiian hotel – she’d be crazy not to take it.
The only problem is, the man running the hotel drives her crazy: Logan Shephard.
It doesn’t matter that he’s got dark brown eyes, a tall, muscular build that’s sculpted from daily surfing sessions, and a deep Australian accent that makes your toes curl. What does matter is that he’s a grump. Kind of an asshole, too. And gets under Ronnie’s skin like no one else.
But the more time Ronnie spends on the island of Kauai, falling in love with the lush land and its carefree lifestyle, the closer she gets to Logan. And the closer she gets to Logan, the more she realizes she may have pegged him all wrong. Maybe it’s the hot, steamy jungles or the invigorating ocean air, but soon their relationship becomes utterly intoxicating.
There’s just one major catch.
The two of them together would incite a scandal neither Ronnie, nor her family, would ever recover from.
Forbidden, Illicit, Off-limits – sometimes the heat is worth surrendering to, even if you get burned.

Zeroes by Scott Westerfeld, Margo Lanagan, and Deborah Biancotti is $3.99! This is a YA scifi/fantasy novel that is described as “X-Men meets Heroes.” Some readers felt there were too many characters to keep track of in the book, but others were pleasantly surprised by how much they enjoyed this one. Have you read it?
X-Men meets Heroes when New York Times bestselling author Scott Westerfeld teams up with award-winning authors Margo Lanagan and Deborah Biancotti to create a sizzling new series filled with action and adventure.
Don’t call them heroes.
But these six Californian teens have powers that set them apart.
Take Ethan, a.k.a. Scam. He’s got a voice inside him that’ll say whatever you want to hear, whether it’s true or not. Which is handy, except when it isn’t—like when the voice starts gabbing in the middle of a bank robbery. The only people who can help are the other Zeroes, who aren’t exactly best friends these days.
Enter Nate, a.k.a. Bellwether, the group’s “glorious leader.” After Scam’s SOS, he pulls the scattered Zeroes back together. But when the recue blows up in their faces, the Zeroes find themselves propelled into whirlwind encounters with ever more dangerous criminals. At the heart of the chaos they find Kelsie, who can take a crowd in the palm of her hand and tame it or let it loose as she pleases.
Filled with high-stakes action and drama, Zeroes unites three powerhouse authors for the opening installment of a thrilling new series.

So am I ten kinds of whackadoodle, or does The Talon of The Hawk cover model look just an itty-bitty bit like Felicia Day? Yes? No? Maybe so?
Heat Wave was blah/yuck for me. I have two sisters, and I just CAN’T with the thought of dating or falling in love with one of their exes. It’s just too weird! I also didn’t believe the strong connection between the H and h. Why didn’t he choose her first? I like my romance to not play into my self esteem issues, thank ya very much ha
