This HaBO comes from Rameen, who is looking for a paranormal romance. Trigger warning below for a pregnant woman in peril:
I have been trying to remember the name of this book. It starts with the hero trying to kill the heroine because he believes she has betrayed him and their team (which ended in two of the team member/their close friends dying). They worked together in a secret agency that dealt with paranormal crimes.
The hero is a shifter. The heroine is at a restaurant when he tries to kill her. She doesn’t have any memory and has been working as a waitress.
Anyhow, someone else shoots at the restaurant first and the hero ends up protecting the heroine. Turns out, she was kidnapped and pregnant at that time when she revealed the secrets that betrayed the team. She would have spilled anything, but they threatened the baby’s life. She finally remembers and firmly believes that her baby boy is alive, while the hero holds no such belief. The book ends with them finding the baby, who is also a shifter, just like the hero.
This also seems to have elements of romantic suspense.
Another HaBO I read and can’t remember. Could it have been one of Lora Leigh’s breed series?
I was going to guess Lora Leigh too. I haven’t read this one but it sounds like it could be her brand of crazysauce.
I’m pretty sure it’s His Darkest Hunger by Juliana Stone.
@ Val
That sounds like the HaBO and the book is $1.99 on Kindle! Sold!
The jump text before the cut sounds just like a scene from Gail Carriger’s Parasol Protectorate series, a scene that I hated so much I quit the series cold. But the stuff with the waitressing and amnesia doesn’t match at all.
I think this is Legacy Found, the third book in the Legacy Series by N. J. Walters.
On second thought: Legacy Found has the shifter, the waitress, and the kidnapping, but maybe the similarities end there. It’s all rather foggy now……
I am 100% positiveI read this and I haven’t read any of the above. For some reason my mind went to the Dark Protector series by Rebecca Zanetti. Unless it is part of her Decorah Security series.
It is His Darkest Hunger by Juliana Stone.
I was almost certain it sounded like one of the Ghostwalker series (something Game) by Christine Feehan. But after reading the comments, I am not 100% and I can’t remember the title. But I am almost certain I have read this and the authors/titles mentioned so far don’t ring any bells for me. Eager to hear what the answer is.
I second Sonya’s comment above.
It is His Darkest Hunger by Juliana Stone. I’m reading it right now and the post’s title seemed very, very familiar!
