Books On Sale

Vamps, Billionaires, and Mary Berry!

The Kindle Daily Deals today are Bookshots by James Patterson. I’m still confused about these, but there are a couple romances in the bunch for 99c!

  • Filthy and Rich

Filthy and Rich by Opal Carew

Filthy and Rich is $2.99! This is a boxed set five novellas featuring menage romances and billionaires. One of the stories also has a female construction worker! This set just came out (as in today), so there aren’t any reviews to pull opinions from. Not gonna lie, I’m pretty interested in this set. It seems like it’d be a quick and steamy read.

Sensually dirty and filthy rich, these five smoking hot billionaire ménage stories will leave you breathless. Includes stories by New York Times bestselling author Opal Carew, Sheryl Nantus, Celia Aaron, Charlotte Stein, and Calista Fox.

    Drilled, Opal Carew
When construction worker Danni goes to the latest job site over the weekend to redo some of her crew’s sloppy work, she doesn’t expect the billionaire owners of the company, Blake and Evan, to be working overtime as well. What starts out as a flirty invitation to cool down with a swim turns hotter than Danni could’ve ever imagined. Soon Danni finds herself longing for more than a casual fling with her billionaires, but how could they ever want more with a simple construction worker?

    Three’s Temptation, Sheryl Nantus
A woman who was torn between her two loves at college graduation—the tattooed bad boy and the star athlete—five years later regrets not choosing them both. When she and the now rival tech billionaires attend the same charity gala, old jealousies and passions return for a night they’ll never forget…

    Legally Screwed, Celia Aaron
When a lawyer goes into a mundane appointment for estate planning, she has no idea she’s about to meet two super hot best friends who do everything—everything—together. And that what they want more than anything is to have her in their bed, over and over again…

Not Safe for Work, Charlotte Stein
“Employees must maintain clear boundaries between personal and professional relationships and conduct themselves in a manner appropriate to the office…” When Hartford brings in Abel Hernandez as the new CEO for his company Hartford Industries, he’s prepared for Abel to shake things up…but not quite like this and certainly not with his personal assistant Amy, the one woman he’s always wanted but never taken. He sees them breaking all of his precious rules, and he intends to reprimand them for it. The only problem is, it isn’t anger he feels towards his two most trusted employees…it’s possession. It’s desire.

    Possession, Calista Fox

Sylvia Carter’s hot hookup with sexy Seth Lofton—billionaire owner of the Aspen-esque Bliss Mountain Ski Resort in Northern California—is only meant to be a one-night stand. But their explosive chemistry has them continually tangled up in each other. And when Seth’s best friend, hotel magnate Noah Donovan, comes to town, he and Sylvia spark just as passionately.

Seth is considering selling the mega resort just as Noah plans to build a luxury hotel with an award-winning spa, which threatens Sylvia’s new day spa. Their personal agendas create plenty of friction—but a fiery love triangle is a temptation none of them can resist. The emotional intensity is just as strong as the sexual burn, though they’re still at a crossroads with their business dilemmas—until Seth and Noah make a pact to give the woman they’re falling in love with everything her heart desires… But can Sylvia afford to take the bait?

  • A Rogue to Avoid

A Rogue to Avoid by Bianca Blythe

A Rogue to Avoid by Bianca Blythe is 99c! This is a historical romance where a misunderstanding leads to marriage. Talk about awkward. Readers really seemed to enjoy the interaction between the hero and heroine. However, others found some things to be a bit unbelievable or inconsistent. It has a 3.9-star rating on Goodreads.

    A Scottish scoundrel…
Gerard Highgate, Marquess of Rockport and the ton’s most aloof rake, knows better than to wed an Englishwoman, especially one as prickly as Lady Cordelia. But when his mother dies and he finds himself saddled with her debts, he needs a wife and he needs one fast.

    An exacting Englishwoman…
Lady Cordelia knows that hastiness in husband hunting leads to mistakes. But when she visits an aristocrat to warn that his life might be in danger, he misinterprets her suggestion to flee to Scotland.

    An unexpected elopement…
Most elopements are born of love, not misunderstanding. Cordelia and Gerard have already broken that rule, but perhaps they can still make their marriage one of love.

  • Immortal Nights

    Immortal Nights by Lynsay Sands

Immortal Nights by Lynsay Sands is $1.99! Catnip ahoy! The hero (a vampire) and the heroine are stranded on an island. Some readers say the villains of this book weren’t terribly villainous. However, others found it fun with Sands’ trademark humor. Have you read this one?

In a sizzling new Argeneau novel from New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands, an impulsive rescue pairs a sexy immortal with the woman made to be his for eternity.

Abigail Forsythe’s life hasn’t been easy lately. Still, if there’s one thing guaranteed to take her mind off an empty bank account and abandoned dreams, it’s a naked man locked in a plane’s cargo hold. A very big, incredibly gorgeous naked man. And when instinct prompts her to free him, Abigail must rely on this stranger for survival…a stranger who leaves her thrumming with need every time they touch.

Tomasso Notte knows he’s found his life mate in Abigail. Now he just has to hold on to her. They’re miles from civilization, hunted by his kidnappers. Abigail has no idea of Tomasso’s abilities, or of how intensely pleasurable their unique connection can be. But he’s about to show her, beginning with one wild, hot, immortal night…

Cooking with Mary Berry by Mary Berry

Cooking with Mary Berry by Mary Berry is $1.99! Though Mary Berry is known for her baking prowess, this cookbooks focuses on savory cooking with a few sweets thrown in for good measure. Cooking with Mary Berry covers a broad selection of recipes-brunch ideas, soups, salads, appetizers, mains, sides, and desserts-drawing on Mary’s more than 60 years in the kitchen. Coincidence about Mary Berry. I just read the RITA-winning novel For Real by Alexis Hall, and one of the heroes, who loves to cook, says that Mary Berry is about his favorite person ever (in the context of reflecting that he has no family, except a mother who’s not at all the cuddly sort) — he says he watches her on the television all the time and sort of feels like he knows her as a friend. It’s not quite as pathetic as that sounds.

Cooking With Mary Berry has just been one-clicked here. I have been regularly using her baking cookbook as my first go-to for baking recipes. “Rather British” recipes work for me. 🙂

  4. Sheryl says:

Just picked up the Mary Berry in hardcover (I have trouble working recipes off a computer screen) and this looks awesome! Beautiful pictures, nice CLEAR listings of ingredients, nothing too out of the ordinary that I can’t find at the corner store… can’t wait to start cooking with it!

If I could only get it out of the hubby’s hands – he’s the cook and all over this!

  5. Sarah M. says:

So while browsing a store yesterday I discovered that Avon Romance’s Impulse line published an M/M romance by Cat Sebastian called “The Soldier’s Scoundrel”. The kindle edition is on sale for $1.99.

It even has a classic Avon Romance style cover. Has anyone read this book or any by Cat Sebastian? I picked it up to support the book and its precedence but I have so much in my TBR pile I was hoping to get some opinions to see if I should jump it up in my queue.

  6. Vasha says:

Yes, do try the Soldier’s Scoundrel. It was very much above average, with some nice writing as a prickly lower-class is attracted to a handsome lord whose ease in his position inspires both envy and resentment even as he is revealed to be personally likable. I never find class-crossing historical romances totally believable, but this one works as well as any.

  7. Mara says:

I have that Mary Berry cookbook and really enjoy it! It *is* very British, in the sense that those of us who are firmly on the imperial measurement system (e.g. cups, pounds, etc.) do have to undertake quite a bit of conversion to metric (e.g. liters, grams, etc.). However, I just made myself a little conversion chart to keep on the fridge & it’s not been a problem. Very straightforward & easy to follow recipes… plus Mary Berry <3

  8. Sara says:

I’m so over Billionaires, but for Charlotte Stein I’ll suffer through. Thanks!

  9. Sara says:

“The Wall of Winnipeg and Me” is free on Prime Reading right now, if you have an Amazon prime account. It got lots of good reviews here a few months back.

  10. Julie says:

Thanks for mentioning Soldier’s Scoundrel in the comments. I picked up that book and preordered Cat Sebastian’s upcoming book, The Lawrence Browne Affair, also for $1.99.

  11. I’m over billionaires also, but for quality menage…

  12. check says:

bah, first I thought “Cooking with Mary Berry” was another romance novel, and thought about the cover “interesting, no-nonsense type seeming lady”…now i’m disappointed I did not get to read a romance novel with that cover 🙁

  13. Kerry says:

@Sarah M. I LOVED Soldier’s Scoundrel – so if you haven’t bumped it up the TBR pile yet, I’d highly recommend it. Class differences are my catnip, so I was smitten from the jump!

I am still heartbroken that we won’t have Mary Berry on GBBO this year (or Mel & Sue).

  14. Heather S says:

@ Sarah M: YES! I loved “The Soldier’s Scoundrel” so much I bought the paperback after reading the ebook. Also pre-ordered the next book, as it is Georgie’s book, and we seriously need more bisexual heroes (and heroines). I asked Cat and she confirmed that he’s bi, so it wasn’t my imagination. 🙂
