Happy 12th Anniversary to everyone! The site started on 31 January 2005 with a review for Angel-Seeker by Sharon Shinn and for The Unsung Hero by Suzanne Brockmann, and what a long strange hot pink journey it has been over the past twelve years.
WOW. I’m sort of stunned by that, and I’ve been working on this post for a few weeks now. Twelve years! That’s a long, long time. Thank you for hanging out with us for so many years!Â
As has become tradition, I went and had a look at the traditional gifts for a 12th anniversary, and behold! Linen! So I played online and shopped for several hours (SUCH A HARDSHIP MY GOSH), and came up with some fun prizes to celebrate our anniversary with a giveaway.
This year, my goal is to accessorize your favorite reading location with adorable pillows that include linen or a blend thereof, and that celebrate reading the books we love.
Ready? We’ve got six to give away!
Have a look!
AÂ typewriter pillow! How cute is that?
But wait, more pillows!
This one has embroidery to make it look like looseleaf paper – I love it.
When my house was staged and it looked like stylish chevron-obsessed aliens lived there with us, this pillow was added to a small grey sofa, and I loved this pillow like mad. I am so excited I found it online and can give one away! The alphabet is embroidered on the front, and it’s just adorable.Â
Do you read past your bedtime? Of course you probably do. We’re all members of The Bad Decisions Book Club.
It’s always Book O’Clock, right? No question.
And of course, one more pillow:
Can’t leave out The Ladies, right? The front of this pillow has The Ladies – Original Recipe, and on the back it says, “You should be reading.” Because obviously.
To enter to win, leave a comment and tell us your favorite thing about hanging out here at SBTB. HaBOs? Cover Snark? Reviews? What’s your favoritest thing?

Update: Here are our winners in order!
Thank you all so much for being a reader of Smart Bitches! You’re what makes this community great!

I’ve learned that there are many awesome smart bitches who like trashy books, and I’ve embraced that in myself now as well. Thanks SBTB! 🙂
The joy of finding new books is what keeps me hooked on SBTB. (And the snark that goes along with the discoveries. Bless you all!)
I like it all!! My favorites, though, are the links and the podcast transcripts. The transcripts are a very nice thing to provide to your listeners!
I love reading the reviews, previews, and views!!!
Like everyone I love the cover snark, but even more I love seeing a review pop up on an author I’ve forgotten about. So much fun to rediscover!
I love that you have made the word squee (and squeeworthy) part of my daily lexicon. This site seriously makes me smile.
Happy anniversary!!
My favorite thing about SBTB is the community, you guys are great! I also love the notices for the books on sale and the contests/giveaways. Keep them coming!
SBTB came into my life at the perfect moment last year. I stumbled upon the podcast (and I love it!) but I think the most amazing element to SBTB is the lovely community that’s been built over the years. *raises champagne glass* may SBTB celebrate many more years to come! 🙂
Happy Anniversary! Love the book reviews and cover snark, this is definitely a go-to place for finding new books. Thanks for the chance to win one of these cute pillows!
I love just about everything here at SBTB, but I especially love your reviews. Whether you guys are talking about books, tv, movies, whatever crazypants thing you have to tell us about, I always know I’m going to find great writing, insightful commentary, and copious amounts of laughter.
Happy Anniversary!
I love SO MUCH, but at the very top of the list are the reviews and HABO.
My favorite thing is knowing there is a large community of other smart women who like “trashy” books. ❤❤ Also the reviews and the HABO’s and the snark and the podcasts and and and…
The Bachelor reviews are amazing—100x better than the damn show fo’ sho’!
Primarily I love the sense of community, but I have been introduced to so many wonderful books here. Many of my favorites are ones I first heard about here.
Have to say Cover Snark, New Release posts and book reviews! Thank you for such an awesome site to hang out at!
The first time I visited the site I was in desperate need of humor and laughter. So I read all the F reviews . And then it was also cover snark, book rants and HaBOs. Nowadays, it’s pretty much everything. SBTB is my happy place. Thank you, girls, for being so amazingly smart, warm, funny and creative. Happy Anniversary! Love you!
I love the reviews, especially the ones that point out books about non-straight, non-white characters.
I just love hanging out with the smart bitches! It’s my happy place on the internet. My favorite thing, as a newbie reader, is discovering authors and romances that I might like through your hysterical reviews. I’m a podcast addict too. Love the site and I’m so happy to have found it.
I love the book reviews, I always leave the site craving new books.
Also cover snark has made me almost pee my pants before, so that is a big plus, too.
Can I say thank you again? It is such an honor to know how much joy you find here, and for how many of you this is your happy place. Thank you so much for that!
I love the community — everyone (Bitches and commenters) are so positive and helpful!
Cover Snark is totally awesome….but I really like the book reviews. I get to read reviews of books and then I feel the need to buy most of those books! I enjoy how real the reviews are and if the book is terrible, you actually say that! Thus, saving me from wasting time and money on said book! Keep reading on for many more years to come!
I love everything about the Bitchery. It brings me comfort when I’m down, extra joy when I’m up, and I still listen to my podcast compliment when I need a boost!
I used to read the site about 8-9 years ago and loved the reviews and the HABO and just the general community! Recently I discovered the podcast and have enjoyed listening in the last month or so. I love this community! And how you lift the genre up!
There are so many things to love at the Bitchery! Your reviews are fabulous, the HaBOs are a sanity saver, your fun book-related posts bring such entertainment, and Cover Snark!
How can I pick just one favorite thing? I love so much! The cover snark, the reviews, the sense of community, great recs, and amazing bitchery. And I adore the podcast. 🙂
I’d say it’s a tie between the reviews, the awesome SBTB crew and the incredible discourse. I’ve never seen such reasonable, civilized discussion ANYWHERE on the internet and frankly SBTB gives me hope for humanity at a time I really need it.
Here’s the best place to find new great reading material.
The humor and the warmth of the community.
HABOs. And shoutouts to plots oozing with crazy sauce.
Lord, its hard to pick just one thing I like about the site! Your reviews tempt my wallet too much to be exactly a favorite. Cover snark is awesome though I do sometimes feel sorry to the self-published people trying to put up a cover without an art department. (The publishers have only themselves to blame so keep on keeping them on their toes!)
I think it is really the community of bright women who love romance as much as I do that really keeps me coming back every day.
