HEYOOO! Some great Kindle Daily Deals, including Go Set a Watchman, American Gods, and Three Dark Crowns, which Elyse loved.
Burning Bright

Burning Bright by Megan Hart, KK Hendin, Stacey Agdern, and Jennifer Gracen is 99c! This is a Hanukkah romance anthology with a foreword by our very own Sarah! A lot of readers found it refreshing to finally have an anthology celebrating Hanukkah. However, some readers thought the collection was imbalanced.
This December, take a break from dreidel spinning, gelt winning, and latke eating to experience the joy of Chanukah. When you fall in love during the Festival of Lights, the world burns a whole lot brighter.
It’s definitely not love at first sight for Amanda and her cute but mysterious new neighbor, Ben. Can a Chanukah miracle show them that getting off on the wrong foot doesn’t mean they can’t walk the same road?
Lawyers in love, Shari Cohen and Evan Sonntag are happy together. But in a moment of doubt, he pushes her away—then soon realizes he made a huge mistake. To win her back, it might take something like a Chanukah miracle.
When impulsive interior designer Molly Baker-Stein barges into Jon Adelman’s apartment and his life intent on planning the best Chanukah party their building has ever seen, neither expects that together they just might discover a Home for Chanukah.
All Tamar expected from her Israel vacation was time to hang out with one of her besties and to act like a tourist, cheesy t-shirt and all, in her two favorite cities. She definitely was not expecting to fall for Avi, a handsome soldier who’s more than she ever dreamed.

RECOMMENDED: The Shadowy Horses by Susanna Kearsley is $2.99! We selected this for the 2013 DABWAHA before becoming aware that it wasn’t eligible (oops). Kearsley is a wonderfully evocative writer, blending historical, paranormal, mystery and romance into rich and absorbing books. However, others felt this isn’t one of Kearsley’s strongest works. Have you read this one?
THE INVINCIBLE NINTH ROMAN LEGION MARCHES FROM YORK TO FIGHT THE NORTHERN TRIBES. AND THEN VANISHES FROM THE PAGES OF HISTORY.
Archaeologist Verity Grey has been drawn to the dark legends of the Scottish Borderlands in search of the truth buried in a rocky field by the sea.
Her eccentric boss has spent his whole life searching for the resting place of the lost Ninth Roman Legion and is convinced he’s finally found it—not because of any scientific evidence, but because a local boy has “seen” a Roman soldier walking in the fields, a ghostly sentinel who guards the bodies of his long-dead comrades.
Here on the windswept shores, Verity may find the answer to one of the great unsolved mysteries of our time. Or she may uncover secrets someone buried for a reason.

Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles is $2.99! Elkeles comes highly recommended and I originally heard of her from SBTB. This is an opposites attract romance that many readers say is emotional and powerful. But some found the characters to feel more like stereotypes. It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads.
A fresh, urban twist on the classic tale of star-crossed lovers.
When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created “perfect” life is about to unravel before her eyes. She’s forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she’s worked so hard for—her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect. Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more.
In a passionate story about looking beneath the surface, Simone Elkeles breaks through the stereotypes and barriers that threaten to keep Brittany and Alex apart.Add to Goodreads To-Read List →

The Duke Who Knew Too Much by Grace Callaway is 99c at Amazon and Barnes & Noble! This is the first book in the Heart of Enquiry series. Readers thought there was a lot of repetition, especially in regards to lip biting and lip licking. That being said, many readers loved the heroine and how cute she was. Any takers?
A Stranger to Love
Alaric McLeod, Duke of Strathaven, is known as the Devil Duke for his wicked ways. Tormented by his past, Alaric knows better than to trust a woman yet finds himself ensnared by a spirited, virtuous virgin—who accuses him of a crime he didn’t commit. Is she his foe… or his salvation?
A Novice to Desire
Emma Kent is an independent country miss cast adrift in the ton. When a depraved encounter with an arrogant rake lands her in intrigue, Emma’s honor compels her to do the right thing. But desire challenges her quest for justice, and she must decide: can she trust her heart to discover the truth?
Bound by Passion and Peril
Alaric and Emma engage in a battle of wits and will. As their attraction flares, the true enemy stalks their every move. With danger looming, will they solve the mystery and find true love— before it’s too late?

Baron by Joanna Shupe is .99, Dirty for Me by Jackie Ashenden is 1.99, If I Had You by Heather Hiestand (set in the 1920s), and Three Dark Crowns (given an A review here by Elyse) is an Amazon daily deal for 2.99. All of the deals were on Amazon, but I haven’t checked elsewhere.
So much for trying not to add to my tbr pile…sigh. Had to have the Shadowy Horses and then noticed that the all three books in the Joana Shupe series are on sale so…yeah I’ll try again tomorrow.
I just wanted to put in a good word for Go Set a Watchman, which you mentioned among the Kindle daily deals. This features an older Atticus Finch, and it got some pretty bad press when it first came out, as Atticus was “revealed” as a racist. I think some people basically felt that he sort of changed from a hero into a villain as he aged. But fiction isn’t like real life–we weren’t seeing hero Atticus aging into a middle-aged racist. Rather, Watchman was written before Mockingbird–in it, we are seeing Harper Lee’s “first” attempt at Atticus. It is definitely worth reading if you loved Mockingbird, but don’t think of it as a sequel.
I’ve been meaning to try Grace Callaway. And look at that, it’s now on my Kindle. Merry Christmas to meeeee!
I just noticed Shadowbound, the first book in Bec McMaster’s Dark Arts series is .99 on Amazon. I know I’ve heard a lot of good things about it in the Whatcha Reading threads on here. I really have to stop checking my Amazon wish lists multiple times a day if I want to make headway on my tbr pile.
Susanna Kearsley’s A Desperate Fortune is on sale in Canada for $4.99! Don’t know about elsewhere. The sales on her books NEVER seem to apply here, so this is a first! Will finally be able to read one of her books.
