On pretty much a monthly basis, I war with myself on whether or not I should purchase a Kindle Unlimited subscription? Will I use it? Can I fit any KU titles into my already toppling TBR pile? Are any of the books worth it? To help answer some of these questions (mainly the last one), some of the Bitchery took a deep dive into the book offerings of KU:
Redheadedgirl: Robin Ellis has his memoir of making the 1970s Poldark series.
I haven’t read t yet, but I have it!
And Sarah Kendzior, a journalist from St. Louis who has studied the rise of modern dictatorships, has a collection of essays called The View From Flyover Country.
Amanda: Grace Burrowes’ The Heir, plus a few other Burrowes titles are available.
Sarah: A ha – Sourcebooks Casablanca titles are in there.
A shit ton of Georgette Heyer, for example, all in KU.
Kiss of Steel (which Elyse loved) by Bec McMaster!
Magnus Pack books by Shelly Laurenston – some are in there, like Pack Challenge.
Amanda: There are also dystopian classics like 1984 and The Handmaid’s Tale.
What If by Randall Monroe of the xkcd webcomic. If you’re a fan of the webcomic, you’ll love this one.
Robin McKinley is a much recommended author around here and a few of her books are available on KU.
These are just a few of the titles. But KU also offers audiobooks and current issues of popular magazine. Kindle Unlimited offers a 30-day free trial. After that, it’s $9.99 a month.
For those who have and use Kindle Unlimited, what are your thoughts? Which books have you picked up on a whim and loved?

@Stefanie Magura:
I have tried Pamela Belle, for the same reason — I heard her books were similar to Stella Riley. The time period is the same, but that was where the similarity mostly stopped for me. I could not get into Wintercombe AT ALL, unfortunately. But maybe you’ll like them! I wish there was more like Riley out there, though. I really, really like her books.
Just a heads up…
Ok, KU 12 month subscription is on sale for $88.89 (25% off) I found a loophole that allowed me to add a KU subscription to the end of my existing KU subscription (which I got on sale).
I emailed a gift subscription to me. You can select a date up to a year in advanced and I selected the exact date my current subscription will expire. It worked! HA! This sale isn’t as good as the one I originally purchased 1.5 years ago. I got the two year subscription for $5.99 a month. I bought that in July on Amazon Prime Day.
I am not sure if Amazon will figure out my “self gift” and send me a “sucks to be you” email eventually but so far it worked right down to the confirmation email.
