  • Sunset in Central Park

Sunset in Central Park by Sarah Morgan

Sunset in Central Park by Sarah Morgan is 99c! If you picked up Sleepless in Manhattan  earlier, this is the second book in the series. Readers loved the heroine, Frankie, who is a garden designer and “flower genius.” However, some found the chemistry between the hero and heroine to be lacking.

In the chaos of New York, true love can be hard to find, even when it’s been right under your nose all along…

Love has never been a priority for garden designer Frankie Fisher. After witnessing the fallout of her parents’ divorce, she’s seen the devastation an overload of emotion can cause. The only man she feels comfortable with is her friend Matt—but that’s strictly platonic. If only she found it easier to ignore the way he makes her heart race…

Matt Walker has loved Frankie for years but, sensing how fragile she is beneath her feisty exterior, has always played it cool. But then he uncovers new depths to the girl he’s known forever, and doesn’t want to wait a moment longer. He knows Frankie has secrets and has buried them deep, but can Matt persuade her to trust him with her heart and kiss him under the Manhattan sunset?

  • Hard Rules

Hard Rules by Lisa Renee Jones

Hard Rules by Lisa Renee Jones is $1.99! Both Elyse and I were excited for this book in August. It has a super alpha hero and readers say it’s pretty angsty, if that’s your bag. However, the book does end with a cliffhanger and some readers say that they enjoyed the first half of the book better than the last half.

Wall Street meets the Sons of Anarchy in the smoldering, scorching first novel in the explosively sexy new Dirty Money series from New York Times bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones.

How bad do you want it?

The only man within the Brandon empire with a moral compass, Shane Brandon is ready to take his family’s business dealings legitimate. His reckless and ruthless brother, Derek wants to keep Brandon Enterprises cemented in lies, deceit, and corruption. But the harder Shane fights to pull the company back into the light, the darker he has to become. Then he meets Emily Stevens, a woman who not only stirs a voracious sexual need in him, but becomes the only thing anchoring him between good and evil.

Emily is consumed by Shane, pushed sexually in ways she never dreamed of, falling deeper into the all-encompassing passion that is this man. She trusts him. He trusts her, but therein lies the danger. Emily has a secret, the very thing that brought her to him in the first place, and that secret that could that destroy them both.

  • Leaving Amarillo

    Leaving Amarillo by Caisey Quinn

Leaving Amarillo by Caisey Quinn is 99c! This is a contemporary romance set in the world of country music. Readers loved Gavin, the tortured drummer hero, but other readers noticed there was a lack of dialogue and wished there was more. It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads.

Nashville meets New Adult in Neon Dreams, a dramatic, sexy series from bestselling author Caisey Quinn, about a country band’s rocky road to fame—and the ambition, dreams, and love of the people who make the music.

Dixie Lark hasn’t had it easy. She lost her parents in an accident when she was young and grew up in a ramshackle house on a dirt road in Amarillo with her ailing grandparents and overprotective older brother. Thanks to her grandfather, Dixie learned to play a mean fiddle, inspired by the sounds of the greats—Johnny and June, Waylon, and Hank. Her grandfather’s fiddle changed Dixie’s life forever, giving her an outlet for the turmoil of her broken heart and inspiring a daring dream.

Ten years later, Dixie and her brother, Dallas, are creating the music they love and chasing fame with their hot band, Leaving Amarillo. But Dixie isn’t enjoying the ride. All she can think about is Gavin, the band’s tattooed, tortured drummer who she’s loved since they were kids. She knows he feels the connection between them, but he refuses see her as more than his best friend’s little sister.

Convinced that one night with Gavin will get him out of her system, Dixie devises a plan. She doesn’t know that her brother has forbidden Gavin from making a move on her-a promise he swore he’d always keep . . . a promise that once broken will unexpectedly change the future for Dixie, Gavin and the band.

  • Wanting It All

Wanting It All by Christi Barth

Wanting It All by Christi Barth is 99c! This is a contemporary romance and the second book in the Naked Men series, which is about a group of dudes who rule a blog and podcast. Readers say it’s not necessary to the read the first book, but it does set up the whole blog and cast of characters rather nicely. Have you read any books in this series?

In the follow-up to Risking It All, hailed by Lauren Layne as “the perfect escapist read,” the heartthrobs of the Naked Men blog and podcast get a little too real about friendship, love, and sex. For one wealthy bachelor, the trouble starts when all three collide. . . .

After narrowly surviving a bus crash in high school with his best friends, science geek Knox Davis resolved to become so successful that he could have anything and everything he wants. Now he’s über-wealthy, a huge business success, and a notorious ladies’ man. Knox refuses to limit himself to one woman, but when his latest conquest—a blond beauty from the Alaskan bush—challenges his superficial ways, Knox begins to see the world through her eyes, and finds he likes what he sees.

A nurturer at heart, Madison Abbott wants to put down roots. She left Alaska to meet Mr. Right—and to track down Logan, the half-brother she’s never met. Instead, she finds Knox. Although the sexy-as-sin bachelor may not seem like marriage material, Madison’s starting to think that Knox is The One. But Knox refuses to settle down, especially once he learns that Madison is his best friend’s little sister. Now it’s up to her to convince Knox that she’s everything he really wants.

  1. Peggy says:

Hard Rules was, for me, a disappointment. I did not warm to the main couple (to me, the hero was sort of an alpha-hole) and I expected a few more plot resolutions (one in particular!). Was too much of a cliffhanger for me. If blurb appeals, you’d definitely need to plan on reading the next book and like organized crime with your romance 🙂

  2. LZ says:

The “Gambled Away” anthology is still $0.99 on Amazon. Oh my goodness. Worth it for the Rose Lerner story alone. (Please write a version of that story as a full length book!)

  3. Sunset in Central Park sounds super cute. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Sandra says:

@LZ, I keep haunting BN, hoping that the Amazon exclusive on “Gambled Away” has ended. No luck yet . HOWEVER, there’s a new Joanna Bourne available for pre-order!!! Downside, it won’t be available until August.

  5. SusanE says:

Sandra, you can buy the anthology from Amazon and install a free Kindle app on your computer to read it. I did that and I read some of the stories but it was not very convenient since I can’t carry my computer/monitor/keyboard around with me and I keep forgetting to go back and finish the book. ymmv

  6. Joanna says:

Sandra, you can also put the kindle app on a smartphone – also not the most convenient way to read but more portable than a computer – although you may have already thought of these options
