graphic image of menorah with a book in front. It's probably supposed to be the torah or something but I'm pretending it's a romanceIt’s the seventh night of the Extrava-Hanukkah Giveaway! Only two nights left – so let’s get this one going, eh?

I hope you’ve been having a lovely holiday and are surrounded by warm and delicious things, and possibly warm and delicious people, if you’re into that kind of thing (I hope not. Warm people are good. Eating people… not so much.)

So that took a turn.

Anyway, perhaps you’re surrounded by everyone and everything you love, or perhaps you need some time to yourself to recharge and read. Or both! (I really hope you’re not surrounded by cannibals.)

Today’s giveaway:

A Kindle Paperwhite WiFi with Special Offers!

And you’re going to want to put books on it, I presume, so we’ll add a $25 gift card to go with it. Woo!

All you need to do to enter is tell us where is your favorite place to read? Even if it’s not real, or if it’s far away, share one of your favorite locations to read and relax, and you’re entered to win.

Standard disclaimers apply:  I’m not being compensated for this giveaway. Void where prohibited. Must be 18 years of age and ready to turn up your Paperwhite brightness to eleven. Unless it hurts your eyes. Then do whatever is most comfortable for you! Open to international residents where permitted by applicable law. 1. Amy says:

Anywhere and everywhere, but mostly on my couch in my living room with my cat lying on me!

  2. Sandy D. says:

In the winter in Michigan? In bed, with the electric mattress pad on high. In summer (in good weather, anyway), I like the second-story sleeping porch of my parents’ house.

  3. Susan says:

When at home, it seems to be physically impossible for me to read whilst vertical. My reading brain only works in a horizontal position. Therefore, my favorite reading spots are lying on the sofa/bed with cat and tea (and blanket this time of year). Heaven.

  4. Laura says:

In a hammock in the shade of the yard! I’m in Perth, Western Australia where the summer is quite hot. Swinging and reading is the best cure.

  5. elizabeth says:

    Snuggled in bed at night

  6. Kellie says:

St Augustine, Florida. Well, that’s not exactly true – my favorite place to read is wherever I find a book or device in my hand and I have a few free minutes. But St Augustine is my favorite place in the world, and I love to plant myself somewhere beautiful and spend some quiet time reading with the city’s spirits drifting by, and sometimes (I swear) stopping to sit and read with me awhile.

  7. JenC says:

Sitting on the beach, shaded by an umbrella, reading on a kindle

  8. Nancy says:

By a lake in a lounge chair with warm, but not hot, weather.

  9. Taylor P says:

My favorite place to read is in my recliner with my cat napping on my lap.

  10. Becky says:

I’d love to read on my window seat, in my library that has floor to ceiling shelves and one of those ladders that slides along them…just like in the Beast’s castle 🙂

Happy holidays, and thanks for the giveaways!

  11. Francene says:

Sitting in a gravity chair under a shady tree outside. Cool breeze blowing. You know there are things you could be doing but you don’t care. This book is too good and right now you’re reading.

  12. mkthor says:

My favorite place to read is on the back patio of my parents’ house on a sunny breezy day.

  13. Michele says:

Curled up on the couch, soaking in a warm bath or relaxing in bed. Honestly, anywhere conducive to relaxation that allows one to still hold a book.

  14. Nadine says:

In a hammock on the foredeck of a sailboat moored at Two Harbors on Catalina Island.

  15. TerryL says:

On the front porch with a cup of tea or glass of wine!

  16. Lynnd says:

I love to read on the deck at the cottage in the summer. In the winter, my favourite reading spot is on the couch curled up with a blanket and a cup of tea.

  17. Pam Miara says:

During the winter, bundled up on the couch. During the summer, outside in the shade.

  18. luchalori says:

I read myself to sleep every night so my bed is my place.

  19. gremlin says:

My favorite place to read is in the sun on a warm beach in Maui, where I can watch the ocean at the same time.

  20. Monique says:

On my couch. That’s it! Thanks for the opportunity!

  21. Nancy C says:

I LOVE to read in bed!!!!!!!!!!It always takes me back to my childhood. I even like to craw back in bed with the Sunday paper and a big cup of coffee. Heaven!

  22. Trini says:

On a beach chair, lounging in the sun, by the ocean, reading while a waiter comes by every 30 minutes to refresh my drink.

  23. Jennifer W. says:

I love soaking in the tub, reading a book! I always prep first, making sure I’ve got plenty of beverages close by so I don’t have to get out for hours. Toss on something to make the water smell good and you won’t see me for the rest of the day.

  24. Nancy C says:

I meant crawl back in bed! I am brain dead with Holiday overload!

  25. Skuld12 says:

I love to read in my bed. I usually have a blanket or my bed sheets to make a warm nest to read in.

  26. Mary Preston says:

Ì have a comfy couch that is ideal for reading.

  27. Malin says:

My favourite places to read are either snuggled up on the sofa, probably wrapped in a slanket or in bed, propped up on a veritable mountain of pillows.

  28. Beth says:

I like to read in bed. One of these days I want to buy a house with a windowseat, so I can sit and read all weekend.

  29. Kim says:

My very favorite reading place is when we vacation at the beach. Not on the beach, but up high on the balcony, with no sand in my drink, and the ocean stretched out in front of me. I completely lose track of time!

  30. SusiB says:

Like so many people here, I read pretty much everywhere I go, even at work in my lunchbreak. But my favourite place to read is at a mediterranean beach, on a sunbed…

  31. Jennifer Trinidad says:

In bed with a warm blanket and my cool pillows

  32. Nicole says:

In the sun outside or in a sunny window if it’s too cold outside

  33. Amy Renee says:

My favorite places are in my bed or on the couch under a comfy blanket, or in the bathtub.

But my reality right now is that most of my “reading” is audio books in the car. It definitely makes my commute better – the other day I actually thought “oh yay, the traffic has turned the highway into a parking lot – that means I’ll get in a couple more chapters of my book” instead of my previous stressed out road rage reactions.

  34. Stefanie Magura says:

I don’t have a favorite place now, but my most common reading spot is at my desk where I keep my computer. As a child though, I would sit on the sofa in our living room and listen to my audio books. It was the best and most comfortable place to keep my cassette player which was somewhat portable but very heavy for a child, and which I needed to listen to books recorded for the blind. At the time, I didn’t realize that I should be using headphones, so everyone got to listen to the cassettes of Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing and Superfudge and the Ramona Quimby books I listened to over and over again. There were other books, but these are the ones which stick out in my memory, and I have used these same recordings, which have since been digitized, as entertainment for my niece and nephew. At the time, I also felt the need to listen to them on car trips. I still sometimes do the same with books I currently read, but I have since started using headphones.

  35. lorenet says:

    Sitting in my recliner

  36. Dee says:

On my bed before I go to bed and cuddled up with my dog.

  37. Michelle says:

My favorite place to read is in the hammock if the weather is nice and there aren’t too many bugs around. If that’s not an option, I read every night in bed before I go to sleep. Eventually, I’d love to turn my second bedroom into a library, complete with the most comfortable chair I can find. 🙂

  38. library addict says:

Anywhere when I can sit down and just sink into the book.

  39. April says:

My favorite place to read is in my closet lol. I have 3 boys at home. 6, 10, & 12 years old. They never think to look in my closet. I learned early on that the bathroom was a no go and if I’m reading and the boys see… Well they always need me.
