graphic image of menorah with a book in front. It's probably supposed to be the torah or something but I'm pretending it's a romanceIt’s the seventh night of the Extrava-Hanukkah Giveaway! Only two nights left – so let’s get this one going, eh?

I hope you’ve been having a lovely holiday and are surrounded by warm and delicious things, and possibly warm and delicious people, if you’re into that kind of thing (I hope not. Warm people are good. Eating people… not so much.)

So that took a turn.

Anyway, perhaps you’re surrounded by everyone and everything you love, or perhaps you need some time to yourself to recharge and read. Or both! (I really hope you’re not surrounded by cannibals.)

Today’s giveaway:

A Kindle Paperwhite WiFi with Special Offers!

And you’re going to want to put books on it, I presume, so we’ll add a $25 gift card to go with it. Woo!

All you need to do to enter is tell us where is your favorite place to read? Even if it’s not real, or if it’s far away, share one of your favorite locations to read and relax, and you’re entered to win.

Standard disclaimers apply:  I’m not being compensated for this giveaway. Void where prohibited. Must be 18 years of age and ready to turn up your Paperwhite brightness to eleven. Unless it hurts your eyes. Then do whatever is most comfortable for you! Open to international residents where permitted by applicable law. 1. Brit says:

I can read anywhere but a big bathtub is nice for a short read.

  2. Nailah says:

My favorite place to read in addition to place to be in general, is my bed. It is perfect for a cycle of reading and napping.

  3. Patti says:

I like to read by the water, doesn’t have to be in the sun but having the water around me is so relaxing and allows me to really immerse myself in the story.

  4. Karin says:

Even though they say the bedroom should be reserved for sleeping only, especially when you suffer from insomnia, my favorite place to read is in bed. In second place is by back patio, when the weather is nice.

  5. Janine says:

On my couch, surrounded by lots of pillows and blankets!

  6. Mimi says:

In bed is best followed by (in better weather) a rocking chair on the porch.

  7. Kay says:

My favorite place to read is a place from childhood—my grandparents’ house. They had some woods, and if you walked down the hill, there was a little creek. The water would flow over the rocks so thinly in some parts, it was translucent as glass. It was the perfect place to read something high-fantasy ^_^

  8. Nanda says:

When I was much younger, you’d find me and Laura Ingalls up in the tree in our front yard. These days one of my favorite places (I have cozy reading spaces in almost every room – as one does) is curled up in the papasan chair under a blanket with the light shining down – almost incubatorish.

  9. Carrie-Anne says:

My favorite place to read is curled up on my couch with my cat, a comfy blanket, and a fire in the fireplace.

  10. Nancy C says:

Anywhere with peace and quiet! But really, my bed, or the loveseat in my office (during lunch on a work day), or the hammock in my yard (during summer when I have a day off). Always need a beverage, perhaps a blanket or shawl to drape over me, and chocolate is always welcome.

  11. Dawn L says:

My husband’s recliner; the living room is a little dark so I had to purchase book light to make reading easier.

  12. Brooding Bibliophile says:

    In bed, under a quilt.

  13. Vasha says:

There’s a picnic table in an apple orchard in my town, on top of a hill overlooking the lake, and on a sunny, breezy, fresh day it’s the best reading place on Earth.

  14. Jen M. says:

I love reading in bed. It’s so cozy and quiet — no TV in the bedroom!

  15. Suze R. says:

Favorite place to read is in my chair facing the patio window that looks out onto a busy street on which I abide.

  16. Suze R. says:

Favorite place to read is in my chair facing my apartment patio window that looks out onto a busy street on which I abide.

  17. Sarah Y. says:

My bed. I love being snuggled up with a good book!

  18. Kathleen says:

Anywhere! However my favourite fantasy place is the roof of Raphael’s house with Bluebell bringing me drinks and discussing my reading choices with me.

  19. Vern Davis-Showell says:

In my special rocking chair made for me by my FIL out of an old metal glider and car seats. He gave it to me when I was pregnant with my first child. I love it beacause it was such a thoughtful gift and it is one of a kind. It’s perfect for sitting in the sun and rocking the day away with a good (trashy) book.

  20. Lori says:

I used to have a glider that I bought before my daughter was born. It used to be my favorite place to read because I could gently rock while I was reading. Sadly we had to get rid of it recently as it was falling apart but I hope to be able to get another one soon because that is my ideal reading space.

  21. Katharine says:

I will and do read anywhere and everywhere, but if I could choose any place at all to read, it would be in a hammock in the mountain town where I used to live in Costa Rica- a hammock with a view, of course, and a person to bring me refreshments.

  22. LML says:

At the dining table when the work of the day is done. Or when I’m done with the work of the day – whichever comes first.

  23. Ana says:

    Indoor – bed.
Outdoor- a hanging chair, with my feet randomly petting the dog.
    Bliss!

  24. Hannah says:

My favorite place to read is in bed. I’d enjoy reading on the beach more but so often I’m minding my kids and am unable to relax.

  25. Shannon Vitale-Wilson says:

I love to read curled up on the couch under a blanket with a hot cup of coffee or tea! But really…as long as I have a book (which I always do) I can read anywhere!

  26. Carrie says:

    Beach!

  27. Tibicina says:

Big comfy chair with a warm funny blanket in front of a fire while it’s raining or snowing outside. (Bonus points for warm mug of hot cider or cocoa or tea.)

  28. Lizabeth Tucker says:

My absolute FAVORITE place to read is at the beach. The sound of the waves, the cries of seagulls, a distant radio playing oldies, all make a great ambiance to lose myself in whatever book that I’m reading.

  29. Ashley Morris says:

In bed so I can be warm and wrapped in blankets while I read. It also happens to be one of the best lit places in the whole house, filled with lots of natural light.

  30. Susan says:

Every night before I sleep, I lie in bed and read several chapters, or one chapter of different books. Reading is the best way for me to relax and unwind, unless I get so caught up that I can’t fall asleep until I finish!

  31. maggie says:

in bed with the cat in the winter and on the sunporch with the cst if its summer

  32. Jen says:

Ha, anywhere the kids will let me? But if I’m more specific, I love reading in my bed, but only during the daytime so it feels luxuriously self indulgent!

  33. Stephanie says:

    In bed!

  34. Laura says:

reading in a nice warm bath is perfect

  35. Shelley Dodge says:

I read everywhere, but currently my favorite place is in bed. I love being cozy and being able to lose mystery in the story.

  36. Kristi says:

Sitting in the swing on our front porch. I spend hours there in the summer.

  37. LJ Paige says:

    In bed!

  38. Brooke says:

My favorite place is on my sofa with my cat curled up against me. Or on the back of a giant turtle. Or in Regency England. 🙂

  39. Janet says:

Favorite place to read is in bed. Lots of pillows, good light and the rest of the family watching tv.

  40. Sue C says:

I love reading on the beach. It’s kind of funny because you go all the way to the beach, just to stick your nose in a book (or in an ereader), but there you go. In everyday life, I like reading in bed, way too late into the night.
