It’s the seventh night of the Extrava-Hanukkah Giveaway! Only two nights left – so let’s get this one going, eh?
I hope you’ve been having a lovely holiday and are surrounded by warm and delicious things, and possibly warm and delicious people, if you’re into that kind of thing (I hope not. Warm people are good. Eating people… not so much.)
So that took a turn.
Anyway, perhaps you’re surrounded by everyone and everything you love, or perhaps you need some time to yourself to recharge and read. Or both! (I really hope you’re not surrounded by cannibals.)
Today’s giveaway:
A Kindle Paperwhite WiFi with Special Offers!
And you’re going to want to put books on it, I presume, so we’ll add a $25 gift card to go with it. Woo!
All you need to do to enter is tell us where is your favorite place to read? Even if it’s not real, or if it’s far away, share one of your favorite locations to read and relax, and you’re entered to win.
Standard disclaimers apply: I’m not being compensated for this giveaway. Void where prohibited. Must be 18 years of age and ready to turn up your Paperwhite brightness to eleven. Unless it hurts your eyes. Then do whatever is most comfortable for you! Open to international residents where permitted by applicable law. Comments will close at or near 12pm ET on Saturday 31 December 2016 and winners will be announced shortly afterward.
Update: Jamie is our winner! We have one more giveaway left! Best of luck!

My favorite place to read is in bed with my cats. But in the late spring/summer/early fall it’s in my swing in the yard beneath a huge old oak tree with my dog.
On the recliner in my living room, with a glass of wine to hand and Pandora playing in the background.
My favorite place to read is in my bed all snuggled into my blankets.
I always read on one end of the sofa, next to the coffee table where I can stage my coffee and perhaps a little snack. It’s important to have a home-made quilt to snuggle under. I find that I often have to compete for space with the cat, who really likes a warm quilt to shed on! But, as long as the cat isn’t too determined to lay on the actual book, we manage just fine.
My favorite place to read is in bed.
Anywhere & everywhere! 🙂
In bed. With snacks. Depending on the time of day, tea and cookies or a nice, single malt scotch and some cheese and crackers. Mmmmmmm.
On the porch overlooking the at our summer lake house rental.
My favorite place to read is in my recliner with a pot of tea and my two cats on my lap.
But I’ll read anywhere and always have a book with because who knows when traffic will jam up due to a high-speed car chase? I’ve been in one and the traffic jam took two hours to clear.
My favourite place to read a in bed or audiobooks while running.
in bed
In bed, once the kids are (finally) asleep. Quiet and peaceful.
Outdoors in the shade on a nice warm day with a breeze- actual location may vary, but I love being near water or in a garden.
Alternatively, indoors in the cold weather with a hot beverage and some nice music playing!
My favorite place is lying on my face on a flat surface of some kind (usually a sofa). My grandmother, when she sees me do this, despairs. “Don’t you know that is bad for your eyes. I read on wechat that your eyes will fall out.”
And then I demand reliable sources and Chinese language news is many things but largely state run–except for the Taiwanese side of things but my grandma is a patriot. Lately I’ve been escaping into the world of romance because anything unexpected feels fraught like poking a boil, lately my grandmother has been telling me everything will be okay, it’s not like we’re getting bombed like she has or anything.
I love reading in bed. Unfortunately if the book is exciting I might just stay up until 4am just to read more.
When I moved out of my parents’ house I bought a la-z-boy recliner of my very own. Now it is the best place to read with a blanket and all three of my cats curled up around me.
On the train. Almost a hour where no one talks to me.
In bed or on my living room couch.
Curled up at my favorite end of the couch with a pile of books on the coffee table on my left, with only the table lamp providing light to read by. If it’s a rainy day and I’m snuggled under a big throw with a big mug of cocoa and a grilled cheese sandwich on the table too and something like Miles Davis’s KIND OF BLUE playing in the background, then it’s just perfect!
My favorite place to read is lying under the covers in bed, with some tea to drink.
I would love to have a window seat to read in (maybe next house!) But my favorite place is the rocking chair I used to nurse my babies in – especially when it’s hidden behind the Christmas tree! 🙂
My couch with my cozy blanket and a drink on the side
My absolute favorite place to read is on the beach. I’m in a beach chair with an umbrella blocking out the sun. Ah, listening to the waves and the seagulls. Perfection! Since I am only able to do this on vacation, my everyday real life favorite place is on my sofa with my fuzzy blanket.
[girl with the dead Kindle looks at the photo with goo-goo eyes] I like reading on the couch, in bed, or on a bus or train…
I mostly read in my bed, I guess. Sometimes at the sofa but my bed is my favourite place to read 😀
My favorite place to read is curled up in a comfy chair with a warm blanket on the covered porch of my grandparent’s country cottage during a long rumbling rainstorm in fall. This place doesn’t exist anywhere but in my mind as it describes this rainstorm sound track I have on my phone that I play frequently to help me relax during reading.
I’m a traditionalist; I love reading on the couch with my dog next to me. If I could find some really comfortable seating, I would love to read on my patio on nice days.
I read everywhere, but my favorite is curled up on the lazy boy chair with a mug of tea, a cat and a good book.
In my broken down recliner that fits my body perfectly – new chairs feel so stiff!
Definitely in bed. Preferably with a bag of peanut butter cups and a cold can of Coke nearby.
In the bathtub. I don’t do this very often now because getting in and out is harder than I like, given the state of my joints, but I used to love doing it.
When I was a kid, I liked climbing a tree (a specific tree that is now gone) and reading while perched there.
In my reading nook (which is shoved into the corner of my kids’ maker space), under a thick wool blanket.
I read pretty much anywhere, but my favorite place is my couch at home. We have a sectional couch and one part is a chaise – that is my favorite place to read.
So perfect for traveling. I can load my books to read en route.
At the Old Monastery Hostel, in Letterfrack Ireland. In front of the turf fire, with pouring rain coming down outside…
I love to read in bed…even in the daytime. I may or may not turn on a heating pad, grab a hot coffee, and surround myself with pillows.
Anywhere I can! Or the beach…i love the beach!
At the beach! Warm sun, cool breeze, waves lapping and a good book.
These days I’m all about my over sized chair that I bought at a consignment store post divorce. I love it and it’s all mine. And it’s great for reading
I really enjoy reading while flying. There’s not much else to do, I know it’s alone time and it means I’m heading on an adventure somewhere!
