I hope you’ve been having a lovely holiday and are surrounded by warm and delicious things, and possibly warm and delicious people, if you’re into that kind of thing (I hope not. Warm people are good. Eating people… not so much.)

So that took a turn.

Anyway, perhaps you’re surrounded by everyone and everything you love, or perhaps you need some time to yourself to recharge and read. Or both! (I really hope you’re not surrounded by cannibals.)

Today’s giveaway:

And you’re going to want to put books on it, I presume, so we’ll add a $25 gift card to go with it. Woo!

All you need to do to enter is tell us where is your favorite place to read? Even if it’s not real, or if it’s far away, share one of your favorite locations to read and relax, and you’re entered to win.

Standard disclaimers apply:  I’m not being compensated for this giveaway. Void where prohibited. Must be 18 years of age and ready to turn up your Paperwhite brightness to eleven. In bed in my pajamas. Thanks for the giveaway!

  4. MarieC says:

ah, I love to read in bed. Nothing like reading when it’s cozy.

  5. Kris L. says:

Our small town library had a super comfy padded chair that was the perfect spot to spend an entire afternoon reading when I was a kid. It was the best reading chair I’ve ever known.

  6. Cat C says:

Easy–curled up in bed with a plush blanket.

  7. Jenny P says:

When it gets even the slightest bit cold, I love reading with a heater blowing on my feet and/or back … which often involves sitting/lying on a cushy rug or a heater on a stepstool next to the foot of my bed. It’s a hold over from my childhood (beginning when I was like 4 years old) when I’d read next to a furnace vent with a blanket over my lap to capture the warm air. 🙂

  8. kkw says:

I love to read anywhere. Probably my favorite place to read is on the beach, because the beach is my favorite place. But maybe the best place to read is really a crowded subway, because that’s when you need it the most.

  9. Erin says:

Favorite is on the beach, but at home it’s definitely my bed.

  10. Kathy L. says:

The red chair in the corner of my bedroom. Cat in lap, tea on side table, book in hand. Ahhhh

  11. Crystal says:

My grandparents live on a farm with no wi-fi, so when I am fortunate enough to visit them, I get a crapload of reading done, usually in their den or out in the barn looking at the back fields. Other than that, I love to read in bed.

  12. naomi says:

The couch in my living room, with my cat leaning on me, is just about perfect for reading.

  13. April says:

My favorite reading place is in bed.

  14. Heidi says:

My fav has always been and still is — in bed with covers pulled up to my neck!

  15. Jamie says:

I’ve always most preferred curling up in a corner of the couch with a blanket and a cup of tea (now that I’m older sometimes that’s a glass of wine!)

    Thanks for the fun giveaway!

  16. Aliyah says:

Reading under the covers in bed or on the couch with a glass of wine… nothing is happier making.

  17. Make Kay says:

I love to read at the beach. Also on the sofa with a cat on my lap!

  18. Psycgirl says:

My favorite place to read is on my couch with a cozy blanket, a hot beverage, and a cat or two.

  19. Jill says:

Curled up on my bed in a pile of pillows is a favorite spot…just give me some tea and something sweet to accompany and I am planted for hours!

  20. Claudia says:

Outside- porch, deck or in the yard. Love glancing up to see the bids at the feeders or in the baths and being surrounded by greenery during the day. At night love to mark the time by noting where the moon is.

  21. eleine c says:

Definitely in bed! With the ac on and a blanket to snuggle in, it’s the perfect place to dive into a book.

  22. Barb says:

On the couch in my mom’s living room, with the sun shining in on me through the window.

  23. Simmi says:

I love to read in bed. But all I really need to be able to read is a warm place, and even that’s a preference rather than a requirement.

  24. Hera says:

    Bathtub.

  25. Lisa M says:

Two blocks from my house is a botanical gardens and they have a large indoor conservatory with waterfall, pond, birds, and tropical plants. It’s always at least in the upper 70s in there and has that warm humid air. In the winter I love to visit there on a weekend midday and camp on a bench to read in the sun, breathe in that nice air, and pretend I’m not in cold cold Wisconsin.

  26. Livia Maftei says:

In the train. If I’m at home there’d be the “mooom, whrere’s my..” – even if I’m in the bathroom. Kids ruined all my reading places. But the train – it’s travelling and speed and a book.

  27. Diane Mc. says:

    In my swing outside.

  28. PSJ says:

Mostly, I read on my couch (surrounded with tea, blankets, chocolate) — but also while waiting in lines (the pre-holiday post office lines were great for reading, and car inspection gave me an hour of reading this week) or for meetings…

  29. StacieD73 says:

I do most of my reading on the couch with my dog sleeping in my lap. I always take something to read when I go to bed. I’ve dealt with insomnia since the election so I like to have something to read nearby.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  30. Rebecca says:

I like to read at bars/lounges or other places with live music.

  31. Vicki says:

As a teen, I would bicycle over to Smiley Library in Redlands, CA, on hot summer afternoons and read in the coolness of the library stacks. I loved that place and was saddened when they changed the rules so only Redlands residents could check books out.

Currently, my favorite place to read is in the hospital cafeteria in the ten minutes I take to have coffee (better coffee than that famous brand….and only 10 cents) between nursery time and clinic time. That little break and the time spent with a book make my day so much better.

  32. Michelle says:

    In bed

  33. Kim W. says:

Normally it is our front room, which has extremely comfy couches and cathedral windows. But during winter it is SITTING DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE FIREPLACE.

  34. ultragotha says:

    Bed, bed, glorious bed!
Nothing quite like always reading in bed.

  35. Lisa says:

On my boat while the kids swim.

  36. Amber says:

In bed under my comfy covers.

  37. Sure Thing says:

A patch of sunlight in winter and the shade of a porch in summer.

  38. Xanda says:

My favorite place to read is the front porch on my mom’s house in upstate New York. It’s best when it’s summer, there’s a cool breeze and it’s raining. Don’t worry, there’s no water getting on the books. Her porch has a tin roof. The sound of rain on a tin roof is one of my favorites.

  39. My favorite place to read is wherever I am. I was always the kid walking along with her nose in a book, the college student standing in line with her nose in a book, and the mom cooking with her nose in a book. Now I blend in better because I’m reading books on my cellphone during my daughter’s music lessons or while hidden away in my office at lunch break.

My absolute favorite place, though, is in a cozy chair, with a blanket on my lap, and my little dog and maybe one of my cats curled up there with me.

  40. Turophile says:

Snuggled in my bed with my boy.
