I have learned to not let people who have hurt me to control my life. I am learning to let that person go and follow what they choose for themselves. Whereas. I am going to be free from all that negativity of that person. No, this person is not my husband. It is my dad!

This year I learned that I have a great time when I travel alone – Rome was wonderful on my terms!

  17. Katie C. says:

That you don’t always know what you might like to read. I had never read urban fantasy before (which I very sheepishly admit sounded like so not my thing), but I gave Burn for Me a try in May and absolutely loved it! So much so that depending on how much I love the next two books in the series coming out in 2017, I may recommend it to my husband although he has never expressed any interest in reading either urban fantasy or romance. I was so taken in my the world that I want to discuss it with him!

  26. Melanie says:

I learned to read Old English this year. It was my first time in a classroom since 2004, though I’d taken online classes in the interim. I loved it. Strange as it may sound, taking the class and doing my homework helped me deal with election-related stress and personal health issues this fall, by giving me something else to concentrate on.

  27. Sue says:

At 57 years old I moved states, started a new job and mourned having my grown kids far away. I learned that sometimes you just have to ” put your big girl pants on” and accept a new chapter in life with grace, thankfulness for the past and an openness for possible future joys.

I learned that nothing is ever guaranteed. I lost a lot of friebds and family members this year, and it reminds me tbat life is too short.

This year I learned that when you have a four-month-old kitten, you’d better tie the Christmas tree to the wall.

This year I learned how to take a vacation. Most trips I have taken and pto has always been family or roller derby related, so this was actually an adjustment for me, especially feeling guilty for not spending the time more “productively” until I was able to accept how productive it is.

  33. erinf1 says:

  39. Ulrike says:

I started a new job 1 year ago, so I’ve learned a LOT this year, but one thing that I’m still really appreciating is How to Customize the View on Google Calendar.
