This is so! Much! Fun!
Ahem. Lemme put down this latke (curried sweet potato – YUM) and set up a giveaway, since it’s the middle of Hanukkah and we’ve got candles, latkes, chocolate to spare!
Time for the fourth night of our annual eight straight days of giveaways to celebrate Hanukkah!
Today?
A Kate Spade tote big enough to hold everything you need for an excellent reading day in any season, any weather!
The Kate Spade Grant Street in Jules is a large striped tote bag. It’s about 15.6″ long, 11.3″ high, and 6.2″ wide (~39cm x 28cm x 15cm), and has a handle drop of about 9.1″ – so you can put this over your shoulder, no problem. It has a recessed top zipper that goes the length of the bag, so your necessities stay inside.
The Jules pattern is cream and black stripes, so this bag will go with everything.
And you might need to put some books in it, so we’re adding a $25 gift card to Amazon!
You should be able to fit most of the books you buy in the bag, too. WOO!
Plus, we have some creative ideas, too!
Included with the bag we have:

- A spiral bound copy of the What Lifts You: Uplifting Designs to Color and Create coloring book by Kelsey Montague
- A limited edition lined hardcover journal celebrating the Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh.
- I Laughed, I Cried paper bookmarks

Thanks to all who participated in the comments, and don’t forget to have a book with you wherever you go.

I keep three books with me. A notebook for writing down thoughts that need to be remembered, a historical romance for entertainment and a magazine for when I only need to be entertained for a few minutes!
I always have my kindle, but my comfort read would have to be Julie Garwood Prince Charming
Lord of scoundrels and Scandal Wears Satin by Loretta Chase. A Week to Be Wicked and Any Duchess Will Do by Tessa Dare. Act Like It by Lucy Parker. So many others–it’s a good thing I can carry these all on my phone!
I would say a book I return to and enjoy for many years is Kathleen Woodiwiss’s Shanna! I know, I know…old timey romance….but the heroine of this book was one of the first heroines, that I read, that was still conventional in some ways but was hell on wheels! Through the years I’ve ranged from tsk, tsking her for her unladylike actions to laughing because her hero deserved every rotten thing that happened to him for chasing a woman based mostly on her looks! Woodiwiss’s writing though a little overblown at times is lush and her story is extremely entertaining!
Devil in Winter!!!
I like to have my Kindle nearby–Persuasion, Sherry Thomas’ books (especially the Heart of Blade duology), and most Agatha Christies.
I carry my ereader with me everywhere so I have a choice of reads depending on my mood. Sometimes I re-read one of JD Robb’s mysteries, one of my favorite SF, love Gaudy Night by Sayers or Busman’s Honeymoon, Sunshine is a favorite re-read…oh so many that I hardly let my reader out of my hand.
Anything by Jane Austen is always nearby. If I’m feeling darker or saucier, it’s DH Lawrence. 😉
I’ve never thought of this question-I don’t have a specific book, but always have to have some worth of reading material. Luckily, my kindle or iPad (or phone in a pinch) makes that easy!
My kindle with the Kate Daniels series. 🙂
I always have my Kindle with me so that I have options!
I hope this counts…I’ve always got my Kindle w/ me because I never know whether I’m going to be in the mood for a romance, historical, or mystery.
I always have some Jeeves and Wooster by P.G. Wodehouse stored on the kindle in case I find myself somewhere without a current read. I don’t read it often, but it is there if I need to. I think that having watched the series with Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry really helps my comprehension of the stories especially with Wodehouse’s language at times. In the book version, Jeeves is a lot more scheme-y and a bit older than in the television series.
“On Writing Romance” because I’m OBSESSED!
I can’t narrow it down to just one book, but I always have my Kindle with me with plenty of old favorites along with TBRs. 🙂
Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, because I’m forever giving copies to people who haven’t read it, and then I buy myself a new copy to re-read, and then the cycle repeats.
I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith
I always have books with me but Nalini Singh’s reads need to be in hands reach, those are my go-to books 😀
An Arthurian legend. ANY Arthurian legend!
Naked in Death by JD Robb and Chase in Shadow by Amy Lane are always on my kindle…
101 Famous Poems- the old leather bound edition
It’s changed over time, and more than any specific book, I always like some uplifting poetry on hand (usually Mary Oliver or Daniel Ladinsky!) I also try to have at least a couple of Betty Neels on hands–they too work wonderfully as soothing drafts! 😛
Nice tote!
Surprisingly, I typically like to keep my Kindle (or Kindle app on my phone) loaded with at least two stout non-fiction books, usually history or biography, in addition to the romance TBR pile.
On the other hand, if we’re talking comfort books: I have several copies of Robin McKinley’s The Hero and the Crown – one in every room and one on Kindle, and despite having read it probably 20 times, it’s never far from me. Just in case, you know?
Too hard to pick one book so I just carry my Kindle!
Jane Eyre! When we moved to Hong Kong 8 years ago, we only had 5 suitcases. I only brough 5 PB books with me and JE was on the top of that short stack. 🙂
The Kindle goes everywhere and has a flavor of book for every mood.
Like others, I keep my e-reader close at hand, with a huge variety of books ready to read. But when it comes to books that I return to time and again (kept mentally”on hand” when no other books appeal) it would be the series I read as a young teen: Mercedes Lackey’s Valdemar books and Anne McCaffrey’s Pern series.
And chocolate. I always have chocolate.
Usually whatever is due back at the library next!
I don’t have a specific book that has to be with me, but I feel uncomfortable if I don’t have a book that I’m in the middle of, or starting. Nalini Singh’s books have become comfort reads, and thank god for ebooks that can be read on a phone/ipad!
_The Silmarillion_ by J R R Tolkien
Beautiful Bastard and Lord of Scoundrels.
I have my kindle with me so I’m never far from a book!
Thanks to the joy of my kindle, I never just carry one book. Always have the kindle and a backup charger on hand.
A knitting project, the latest book I’m reading, and my phone. If I’m so lucky as to have my diet Dr Pepper, too, it’s a magical time!
Courting Morrow Little by Laura Frantz has got to be the book I’d take everywhere if I had a bigger purse! It’s definitely a romance I’ll never forget!
Julie Garwood’s Saving Grace. I first read it at 15, and now it’s like a comfy old friend.
I read pretty much exclusively on my phone, so I have my favorites at my fingertips through the Kindle app.
Pride and Prejudice, Anne of Green Gables, and Agatha Christie are always on hand
I keep a copy of The Kraken King by Meljean Brook on my phone and I put all my ebooks on a SD card so that they are always within reach on my Kindle. Thanks and happy holidays!
