2016 Smart Bitches Extrava-Hanukkah Giveaway, Part 1

Time for our annual eight straight days of giveaways to celebrate Hanukkah! We have so much fun planning these, and we’ve been working on each gift pack for months.

As we did last year, each night celebrates reading, along with some themed prize packs that celebrates the different interests of the Smart Bitches crew. I hope you like them!

Ready for the prize for the first night of Extrava-Hanukkah?

Today we’re giving away a prize pack celebrating everything RedHeadedGirl loves — good television and movies, cooking, baking, and of course, Outlander!

The first night prize pack includes:

A DVD copy of Outlander: Season One, Volume One

A Penzey's spices mini baker gift set including cinnamon, ginger, cocoa and nutbeg

So you can watch everything will baking pretty much all the things! Someone’s home will smell delicious very soon.

    Cranberry chocolate chip cookies from Rose Levy Berenbaum’s Christmas cookie book. I have a batch baking as I type and a tray of dough freezing for baking at a later date. Annual reread of A Christmas Gone Perfectly Wrong with cookies and Penzy’s cocoa scheduled for midnight.

    I never get tired of eating a simple, plain cake donut with a good, hot cup of coffee while I read, it’s nothing fancy, but it sure tastes incredible to me!!

    brownies! the more fudgy the better! my favorite has to be Nigella Lawson’s dense chocolate cake which is a cake, i know, but it’s more brownie like than any brownie I have ever eaten!

    Cookies. Lots of different kinds. Preferably not toooo crumbly or flaky or sticy. Rice Krispy Treats are actually really good for this. (The secret to really good ones is browning the butter and adding a little sea salt. If you want to get fancy, you can also add sage or rosemary or other herbs/spices. We’ve done Indonesian curry ones which were amazing.)

    I never get tired of croissants. I would eat one every day if I could! And of course, reading and snacking is never complete without a nice cup of coffee. Happy Hanukkah!

    Gotta mix the salty with the sweet, so it’s usually Walker’s shortbread cookies, followed by Lay’s potato chips. Which then leads to another cookies, which then has to be balanced with some more Lay’s potato chips. It’s a never-ending, stretch pants cycle.
