2016 Smart Bitches Extrava-Hanukkah Giveaway, Part 1

Time for our annual eight straight days of giveaways to celebrate Hanukkah! We have so much fun planning these, and we’ve been working on each gift pack for months.

As we did last year, each night celebrates reading, along with some themed prize packs that celebrates the different interests of the Smart Bitches crew. I hope you like them!

Ready for the prize for the first night of Extrava-Hanukkah?

Today we’re giving away a prize pack celebrating everything RedHeadedGirl loves — good television and movies, cooking, baking, and of course, Outlander!

The first night prize pack includes:

A copy of Outlander Kitchen!

A DVD copy of Outlander: Season One, Volume One

A Penzey's spices mini baker gift set including cinnamon, ginger, cocoa and nutbeg

So you can watch everything will baking pretty much all the things! Someone’s home will smell delicious very soon.

    Ever since I was a kid, I have loved eating potato chips while I read. I just turned 56, and it is still my favorite reading snack. A close second during this time of year, is my homemade spritz cookies. Happy Holidays to everyone in the SBTB community!

    In my fantasy, I’m always eating homemade scones while reading. In reality, I will stuff my face with whatever is at hand.

    Something my mom & aunt always baked that I bake now is “chocolate walnut cake” which is really yellow cake with walnuts and a chocolate frosting. Simple and good and often the breakfast of champions!

    Well, I love making licorice root tea when I read, especially during the winter. And when I was younger, before I gave up junk food, Keebler’s fudge sticks were my go-to.

    Anything peppermint!! I remember buying the 3 pound peppermint stick. We would break a chunk off with a hammer, then crush it for tea, cookies or candy. I miss those huge candy canes!!

    Tea cookies! Best recipe I ever found was in a cookbook that has recipes from (or based from) novels called The Book Lover’s Cookbook. They are divine 🙂

  33. My own version of Chex mix that includes extra Worcestershire and baked french fried onions (add them after baking or they get soggy). I have to put it in snack sized plastic bags to control portions or I’ll eat the whole gallon bag before I know it when I’m reading.

    Torta Alemã! It’s a Brazilian sweet and buttered dessert and it literally means “German Pie”. German descendants in Brazil created this dessert and it’s good as hell!! I love to eat a slice of it when I’m reading around this Christmas time <3

    Anything with dark chocolate — Dove makes a really fabulous raspberry sorbet on a stick coated with dark chocolate — it’s messy but fabulous.
