  • Idol

    Idol by Kristen Callihan

Idol by Kristen Callihan is 99c! This was my pick for June’s Hide Your Wallet. I haven’t gotten around to reading it, but if you have, let me know what you think in the comments. For readers who like rockstar romances, this comes recommended, while other readers thought there was perhaps too much focus on sex. It has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads.

    Libby

I found Killian drunk and sprawled out on my lawn like some lost prince. With the face of a god and the arrogance to match, the pest won’t leave. Sexy, charming, and just a little bit dirty, he’s slowly wearing me down, making me crave more.

He could be mine if I dare to claim him. Problem is, the world thinks he’s theirs. How do you keep an idol when everyone is intent on taking him away?

    Killian

As lead singer for the biggest rock band in the world, I lived a life of dreams. It all fell apart with one fateful decision. Now everything is in shambles.

Until Liberty. She’s grouchy, a recluse —and kind of cute. Scratch that. When I get my hands on her, she is scorching hot and more addictive than all the fans who’ve screamed my name.

The world is clamoring for me to get back on stage, but I’m not willing to leave her. I’ve got to find a way to coax the hermit from her shell and keep her with me. Because, with Libby, everything has changed. Everything.

  • Cold Iron

    Cold Iron by D.L. McDermott

Cold Iron by D.L. McDermott is 99c! This is also the first book in McDermott’s paranormal romance series of the same name. Cold Iron has fae, archeology, and ancient Celts, so you know it’s going to be good. Though the heroine and plot were interesting, a few readers found the secondary characters more exciting to read about than the hero and heroine. The other books in the series are also on sale, and you can grab all four books for less than $9.

The Fae, the Good Neighbors, the Fair Folk, the Aes Sídhe, creatures of preternatural beauty and seduction. Archaeologist Beth Carter doesn’t believe in them. She’s always credited her extraordinary ability to identify ancient Celtic sites to hard work and intuition—until she discovers a tomb filled with ancient treasure but missing a body. Her ex-husband, the scholar who stifled her career to advance his own, is unconcerned. Corpses don’t fetch much on the antiquities market. Gold does. Beth knows from past experience that if she isn’t vigilant, Frank will make off with the hoard.

So when a man—tall, broad shouldered, and impossibly handsome—turns up in her bedroom claiming to be the tomb’s inhabitant, one of mythic god-kings of old Ireland, Beth believes it is a ploy cooked up by her ex-husband to scare her away from the excavation.

But Conn is all too real. Ancient, alien, irresistible, the Fae are the stuff of dreams and nightmares, their attentions so addictive their abandoned human lovers wither and die. And this one has fixed his supernatural desire on Beth.

  • One Lucky Hero

One Lucky Hero by Codi Gary

One Lucky Hero by Codi Gary is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance that starts as a one night stand. It’s also the first book in the Men in Uniform series, the rest of which are also on sale. Some readers found the romance to have too much angst and drama for their liking, but others loved the broody hero and the snarky heroine. It has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads.

he was looking for a little fun…

Violet Douglas wants one night where she can be normal. Where she can do something for herself and not be just her sibling’s guardian. So when she spies a tall, dark and sexy stranger, she’s ready to let her wild side roar. The last thing she expects is to see her one night stand one week later, when she drags her delinquent kid brother to the Alpha Dog Training Program.

    He wasn’t looking for a commitment…

Sgt. Dean Sparks is used to keeping women at a distance, and yet he can’t resist Violet’s snapping wit or smile. So when he suggests a friends-with-benefits arrangement, it seems like the perfect solution to their undeniable attraction. No emotional entanglement, just mind-blowing sex.

But with their lives becoming more and more entwined, Dean realizes that casual isn’t enough for him anymore. And as Violet finds herself leaning on Dean in a way she never has, will her fears put more distance between them? Or can she let go of the past, and take a chance on happily ever after?

  1. Anne says:

The Winter Crown by Elizabeth Chadwick is a Kindle Daily Deal, on sale for 1.99. It is the second in her series (I think a trilogy) about Eleanor of Aquitaine. Chadwick’s books are usually expensive (around 10.00 in digital format), so this is a good deal, especially if you like historical fiction.

  2. Judy W. says:

I read Cold Iron a bit ago and honestly can’t remember it all. I did give it only two stars though so a definite “meh”

  3. Katie Lynn says:

Idol was just okay for me, and I like rock star romances. The book has an ominous beginning (it is basically revealed in the prologue that they’re not together any more), then we start from the beginning, catch up with the prologue time at about 80% through and then barrel through to the ending so quickly I didn’t feel like there was adequate time for the two to put aside their differences. The next book, Managed, is supposed to be out soon and looks more promising.

  4. DonnaMarie says:

Quite goldmine today! Luckily, I already read Idol. Devoured it like the dark chocolate treat it is and eagerly awaiting book two.

The real deal here is The Pie and Pastry Bible. Rose Levy Berenbaum writes the best cookbooks. And the chocolate pie – to die for! I can’t recommend it more.

  5. chacha1 says:

“Idol” was my second sale romance purchased today. It’s gonna be about the comfort reading for a little while. :/

  6. Shana says:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the “Cold Iron” series. Love as in I paid full price because I couldn’t wait for the next book to go on sale kind of love. Wonderful mix of snarky/independent women, non-asshole alphas, great dialogue, humor, magic, history, Celtic legend…sigh. CATNIP.

  7. I also really liked the Cold Iron series. Here’s to hoping that the price of book 3 drops for me!

  8. Gigi says:

Yay! I’ve been book stalking Idol forever. My patience has been rewarded. It’s all about the little things right now 🙁

  9. Mary says:

Okay, the comments have convinced me to try Idol and Cold Iron!!!need some comfort reads.
