    Does anyone have any good recommendations for any good PNR/UF/etc books from Harlequin? The only one I remember reading is Nalini Singh’s part in the Royal House of Shadows (I think?) anthology. (I really liked it!)

    I really like Harlequin Presents and here are some of the books I remember really liking:

    Bonds of Hatred by Lynne Graham — if anyone is in the mood for a super angry heroine and an angsty story. It’s a 1990’s Presents so it’s rather old school but I enjoyed anyway? She definitely was not intimidated by the hero.

    High-Society Wife by Helen Bianchin — Marriage of convenience, suddenly, feelings! I remember really liking this but I don’t remember the angst level. Probably not that angsty if I can’t remember it though.

    The Scorsolini Marriage Bargain by Lucy Monroe — Story about a fictional small country’s king and his wife. This one isn’t for everyone because it deals with difficulties in conceiving and so on. (Not a spoiler, it’s alluded to in the last sentence of the synopsis.) I liked the angstiness of it but I felt pretty “meh” about the ending. Mentioning it in case anyone might be in the mood for it.

  2. Konst. says:

    @NT
    Many, many thanks for recommending the “Mergers and matrimony”!!!
    I started reading it yesterday on the metro and nearly missed my stop.
    ALL kind of catnip: mature heroes, enemies to lovers, forbidden romance and… Japan!!! Didn’t finish yet, but I hope it’ll keep the level till the end.

  3. @NT, thanks so much for those recs! I’ve already bought, read and *loved* Allison Leigh’s Mergers and Matrimony – and since she didn’t write any of the other books in that particular series, it’s definitely not her fault if the next one (about the hero’s daughter) wasn’t as memorable. I really appreciate getting pointed to her books!

  4. (But whoops, I meant to say – I bought it on @NT’s recommendation, and I’ve already read it SINCE then, devouring it really quickly. Thanks so much for sharing that rec here!)

  5. NT says:

    @Konst. and Stephanie,
    I’m glad you liked it. You all are making me feel pretty good about my taste in books right now!

  6. NT says:

    Oh, and Leigh did write the sequel. I found it, The Boss’s Christmas Proposal. http://www.amazon.com/Bosss-Christmas-Proposal-Back-Business-ebook/dp/B001SLM2GK/

    Mergers and Matrimony was part of a 6-book series, Family Business, each by a different author. It was the only one I read, for the reasons mentioned. Then there was a sequel series, Back in Business, also by different authors, with Leigh writing the last book again. Also again, it was the only one I read. Looking at the description, I can see why it probably wasn’t my thing. Instead of mature characters, it has the very young heroine trying to prove herself to daddy. Which, meh. But that’s probably someone else’s catnip like the first one was mine.

  7. Julie says:

    Thanks for the Nicole Helm rec(s). Quite an angsty set of stories!

    Actually started with book #2 in the Farmer’s Market series (PTSD hero), then book #3 (ONS pregnancy) then onto the half nekkid farmer in book #1 because Amazon’s blurb didn’t make the book sound interesting to me (clearly should’ve read Elyse’s review instead of the blurb!). 🙂

  8. Carol S says:

    Christine, thank you so much for the Carla Kelly rec! Blew through The Admiral’s Wife and Miss Grimbsy’s Oxford Career and loved them. Nothing makes me happier than discovering an author with a nice full backlist.

  9. @SB Sarah says:

    Oh, Carla Kelly is really, really wonderful. Her Regencies are some of my favorite comfort reads. And yes, her backlist is epic! That is the best.

  10. Marci says:

    Don’t forget to upload your ebook receipts to Harlequin’s My Rewards program. I believe purchases from Amazon/NOOK/iBooks will get you 1000 points for each ebook purchase. (I wish I would have noticed that sooner. I purchased most of my books from KOBO or All Romance Ebooks. I uploaded receipts but don’t know yet if they will earn the 1000 points each.)
