  • Prince’s Gambit

    Prince’s Gambit by C.S. Pacat

RECOMMENDED: Prince’s Gambit by C.S. Pacat is $1.99! This is the second book in the Captive Prince trilogy and it’s definitely imperative that you read them in order. But if you’re looking to round out your digital collection, this is a steal. Elyse has called the series “cracktastic.”

The second novel in the critically acclaimed trilogy from global phenomenon C. S. Pacat—with an all-new chapter exclusive to the print edition.

With their countries on the brink of war, Damen and his new master, Prince Laurent, must exchange the intrigues of the palace for the sweeping might of the battlefield as they travel to the border to avert a lethal plot.

Forced to hide his identity, Damen finds himself increasingly drawn to the dangerous, charismatic Laurent. But as the fledgling trust between the two men deepens, the truth of secrets from both their pasts is poised to deal them the crowning death blow…

  • Skye O’Malley

    Skye O’Malley by Bertrice Small

Skye O’Malley by Bertrice Small is $1.99! If you’ve been needing some Old Skool crazysauce in your life, look no further. Redheadedgirl gave this one a read and gave it a B-:

So the important thing to remember about Bertrice Small is just what Sarah said in her tribute last month: all those taboos the erotica writers are thinking they’re the first to break? Someday, they will find Ms. Small, and she will laugh gently and say, “Oh, darling, these butt plugs? They’re vintage.” There quite a lot of kinky sex in this book, and there are strengths and weaknesses to that. First, Skye isn’t shamed for having had quite a lot of sex with seven men. No one shames her for being a rape victim. Enjoying a variety of consensual sexual experiences makes people happy! That’s great Buuuuuuut (and you knew there was a butt) (not a typo) the people who are into the butt stuff? They are bad bad people. There is a point where “insatiable sexuality” is a character flaw.

There has never been a woman like luscious, raven-haired, hot-tempered Skye O’Malley. She is the courageous seafaring captain of her own mighty fleet, and intelligent enough to win a battle of wits with Queen Elizabeth herself. Follow along as Skye O’Malley is swept up in a journey filled with romance and passion that takes her from glittering Ireland, to lush Algeria, to the heart of London in pursuit of a unique and eternal love…..

  • One Scandalous Kiss

One Scandalous Kiss by Christy Carlyle

One Scandalous Kiss by Christy Carlyle is 99c or $1.99 depending on the vendor! This is the first book in the Accidental Heirs series and features a suffragette heroine who owns a bookstore. Some readers found the book a bit slow, while others loved the writing. It also looks like all three books in the series are on sale!

When a scheming marquess’ daughter offers her one hundred pounds to publicly kiss a nobleman, a desperate Jessamin Wright agrees. She believes the money will save her failing bookstore and finally free her from her father’s debts. But when Jess bursts into an aristocratic party and shocks the entire ton, she never expects to enjoy the outrageous embrace she shares with a grim viscount.

Lucius Crawford, Viscount Grimsby, has never met, or kissed, anyone like the beautiful suffragette who unsettles him with a single touch. He has always strived for control and avoided passion at all costs. Lucius is determined to protect his title and restore the estate he’s unexpectedly inherited, but Jess’ appearance in his life poses a threat to his plans and his heart. After a country house party brings them together once more, neither can resist temptation, and both find that one scandalous kiss just isn’t enough.

  • His Diamond Queen

His Diamond Queen by Lena Hart

His Diamond Queen by Lena Hart is 99c! I first heard about Hart after attended a panel at RT in Vegas and I immediately added all her books to my Goodreads account. This romance has some bodyguard and mafia elements, which may be a turn off to some people. But many say it’s a rollercoaster of a romance. It has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads.

In this seductive series, four lives collide in a riveting tale ofsecrets, deception, betrayal, and revenge…and this story is about…

    The forbidden gem…

Rachelle Silva is used to getting what she wants. As the beloved secret daughter of a ruthless crime boss, she wants for nothing–except freedom from her overprotective father. But when her identity is compromised and her life is threatened, Rachelle is given the one thing she’s always hated most: an escort.

Former fighter Jay Price stays connected with Vegas’s criminal underbelly, and for the right price he’ll take on any job. But when he’s hired to babysit self-centered “princess” Rachelle, he finds himself captivated by the beautiful, spoiled socialite–and annoyed by his sudden attraction to her.

Confused by her own attraction to the tattooed “thug,” Rachelle sets out to make Jay as aware of her as she is of him. Unfortunately the threats to her life are all too real, and Jay is forced to bring her into “his world” until the threat is…dealt with. But he has an even bigger fight on his hands–his desire for the one woman he’s forbidden to have.

  1. Dora says:

I am so tempted by that Skye O’Malley book, even if the quotes in one of the Amazon user reviews are pretty terrible. (“Ahh…Skye, your little honey-oven is made for me.”) I also found it really, really funny after reading ReadHeadedGirl’s plot-recap review that someone else is calling it “realistic” and that the lives of the characters in the book are “common for the time”… I think the reviewer is trying to defend the amount of sex and rape in the book, but all I can think is, dang, the history books left out how frequently women became amnesiac pirate Sultan brides who shoot out babies like t-shirt cannons.

  2. Dora says:

Decided to compromise. Checked out both Skye O’Malley and the first book in the Captive Prince trilogy from the digital library. Technology is wonderful.

  3. Lostshadows says:

It’s Talk Like a Pirate Day, so I suppose I should buy Skye O’Malley for the piracy. (Never read any Smalls.)

  4. Christine says:

I think Bertrice Small is very interesting to look at in terms of her books and the time they were published. Her earlier works (which is where I would categorize 99% of them) are full of rape, forced seduction etc. But they are also full of “taboo” stuff at the time, which would fall under erotica today and never ever would have gotten published if the women weren’t “unwilling” (even though they are often forced to like it against their will). In her last few books published before she passed, she changed to a modern setting where there was a “tv channel” women would literally travel into to live out their fantasies. In the last books her heroines (who are all older women- no more teenagers) are willingly choosing to do things her former heroines had to be kidnapped and forced to enjoy. They also take gleeful revenge on the men who done them wrong and end up powerful and often without one certain partner. It’s quite a change and very dramatic when to note compared to her older books like Skye O’Malley.

  5. Susan says:

I own several Small books, but don’t think I’ve ever actually read one. LOL. Part of me is intrigued–they sound like all those Angelique books I read in my teens–but part also thinks they’re best left in the past.

I bought Captive Prince 1 & 2 back when they were self-pubbed under the SU Pacat name (which I love mentally saying as supa cat). The problem is, Amazon doesn’t show that I own them whenever I click on the book link (altho it’s definitely in my library). But I always compulsively doublecheck because I don’t want to miss a sale. I know that one day I’ll just buy a duplicate copy because I’ve forgotten or I think it’s vol 3 (which I’m still waiting to go on sale). This is the long way of saying it stinks being so forgetful, and that I can’t rely on Amazon to help me remember.

  6. Debbie F. says:

On a completely different note…I just noticed that several of Dorothy L. Sayers Lord Peter Wimsey novels are on sale for $1.99 on Amazon.
